      True Story:

      Years ago I went into a card shop in Seattle, WA., and saw a box of cards labeled $1.00 Box.
      Inside I found a Brian Piccolo card. When I went to pay, the guy behind the counter looked at me and asked, “Where’d you find this?”
      When I told him, “In the dollar box.” He quickly replied, “Son, it’s you’re lucky day. I’m going to honor that price. Did you know that card is his Rookie?” I had no real idea what he was talking about and just went home. The very next day, that store would cease to be in existence. To this day, that card is one of my favorite cards in my collection.

      To those that may not know the history of BRIAN’S SONG, Gale Sayer’s Rocked. But better yet, Barry Sanders was a true friend of Gale and promised to never break his record. To these legends, $ had no hold. That’s another reason I voted for Barry over Gale. Again, too many greats to pick just one. But you made me. :evil:

      @thoes426:

      Con Call with Factory last night.  Production samples of Italy will be finished today and shipped to me for inspection and approval!  We are getting close!

      Final COMBAT DICE samples will also be included in this package.

      Thats really great to hear, cant wait to get my hands on the Italians and with luck the two new dice sets as well!
      Thoes426 :evil:

      That is wonderful news! So far I have on pre-order: E40, Combat Dice, and tower, now if I can just land FMG’s Italian Army, and the new dice I’ll be all caught up. Hopefully one day I can get an Ammo Box.

      @knp7765:

      Hey Stickman,
      Have you heard news on the ANZAC and French dice?  I have been wondering about those as well but haven’t seen or heard anything.

      Hi there knp7765,

      Here is the latest news regarding the new additions to the Combat Dice;

      “P.S. You’ll love the combat dice there simply amazing. Anzac and France are expected to arrive shortly so keep watch, the’ll likely sell out quite fast like Italy and China did.”

      WooHoo, great news, can’t wait. It sounds like within the next few weeks we’ll be able to pre-order Italy. I can’t wait!
      It also sounds like the new dice additions will be close behind.

    • RE: Discussion about unit colors, sculps and map improvements

      I agree the map doesn’t need to be larger but possibly more accurate. I own a Peter’s Map of the World and it looks like it could work well but the SZ would all have to be redone for movements sake as Hawaii is more than 3SZ away from Japan.

      It would still be nice to split the Americas so they are on both sides of the map. This would allow both theaters to be more easily managed.

      Here’s a picture and description of the product taken from Amazon.com

      Which is bigger, Greenland or China? With the traditional Mercator map Greenland and China look to be the same size but in reality China is almost 4 times larger! In response to such discrepancies, Dr. Arno Peters created an equal area map, a new world map that dramatically improves the accuracy of how we see the Earth.

      The Peters Projection World Map is an equal area projection.
      That means that one square inch anywhere on the map is an equal number of square miles. All the countries of the world are represented at true size and true proportion. This is one of the few commercially available maps that is fair to all peoples. Most maps drastically enlarge the size of the Northern hemisphere countries and diminish the size of the Southern hemisphere countries. This traditional bias leads most people to overestimate the importance of the developed nations based on their inflated appearance. The 1999 Peters map comes laminated

    • RE: Any good American Civil War games out there?

      Very cool. I will keep a sharp eye out for it.

      Would an American Civil War themed game based off of A&A’s system work?  I think it could. An USA map with all the major cities of the time, with their rivers and railways could really lend themselves to creating some interesting conflicts. Ironclads would be a nice addition. Everything in the way A&A plays could carry over with almost all the same pieces except air, unless lookout balloons could work.(?)

      General - Key player (like conquest of Empires?)
      Infantry - Infantry
      Artillery - Cannon/Parrot gun
      Tank    -  Cavalry
      siege weapons & mortars
      Battleship - Ironclad
      Transports -
      gunboats
      mines
      wagons
      surgical hospitals or ambulance corps?  :-)

      Maybe campaign oriented? Viksburg would be a great start!  :-D

      I can’t wait. 47+ days to go. I’m thinking of canceling my trip back east so I can be home when the game comes out. LOL

      Wow, thank you so much Brain Damaged, those all look very interesting. I’ve not heard of any of them  :-(. I will have to investigate further  :-), (thank you very much.)

      Have you tried any of these games?

      I must admit that I’m a little discouraged about BATTLE CRY as it could be easily OVER within half an hour. I like gaming, but don’t want the fun to end within an hour. Heck, this war lasted almost as long as either World Wars, and it happened right here in the States, which included many, many different heritages and tactics. I’m a big CW buff and WWII comes second on my list of necessary wars. Maybe it’s because the ACW was so complex like; territories, tactics, technology, philosophical viewpoints, and weaponry that make this a tough topic to nail? I see something in A&A that could carry over to pre-19th century innovation.

      Here is a sample of some of my 1:6 figures that commemorate the ACW

      my collection has grown so much since these pics, so please excuse.

    • RE: Problems with Field Marshal games

      Hi there FMG’s. I have a quick question for you if you don’t mind.

      I pre-ordered A&A Europe 40 through you as well as the wooden Dice Turret, and combat dice set and paid via PAYPAL 6/03/2010 and was wondering if the Turret and Dice will ship with Europe 40 as I never received any info? I’m a little anxious to use the tower and dice with my new Pac 40 game but could wait for everything to ship together if that’s the plan. I’m just not sure what the shipping game plan is, any further info would be much appreciated. Thank you.

      NICE! That is great news, thanks guys. I’ve read some positive things about this game, but when I looked it up on Amazon I saw that it’s going for $170. +

      Yikes!!

      I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled. Here’s to something new in 2011. It’s going to be a big year.

    • RE: Fmg pieces price

      I’m very much interested in new pieces. I recently purchased Pac 40 9just last month) and was very dismayed with lack of Japanese Bombers, paper IPC’s, dice, and the battle board, and paper tokens didn’t help either. I have recently found FMG’s website and am very excited about any possibility of newly molded pieces. Any more info on release date, or pre-order info? Are these new pieces still coming? when can we expect to get an update? I have Europe 40 on pre-order through FMG’s as well as a wooded Dice Tower and combat dice set. Will the new team dice (Anzac, and French) be released soon, or with Europe 40 in late August? Any news update would be much appreciated. Thank you FMG for making this possible (crosses finger). WOTC surely need to pass the reins to FMG.

    • Any good American Civil War games out there?

      Hello Everyone, I was wondering if there are any good board games out there that revolve around the American Civil War? Growing up I truly loved Conquest of Empires, and Axis & Allies because of their game pieces as well as game play. I tend to stay away from flat, topographical grid games that use flat cardboard tokens.

      Anyway, I think this topic has been grossly under-appreciated or given real credence for gamers, and with the 150th anniversary rolling around this could be a great new topic for designers, any thought?
