      Thank you Deaths Head 420!

I don’t know if you’ve ever played the game “Hearts of Iron”, but your map reminds me of a lite version of it in AA form: it allows so much freedom of movement and multitude of strategy.

Excellent design and concept and flawless presentation.

Look forward to playing a game in the coming fortnight

      ONE MORE QUESTION:

I’ve been browsing through this thread, and I want a quick clarification: Are the setups listed on the first post the ones I should use? There seems to be an awful lot of “don’t put Factory on Hawaii” or “Where are the setups?”.

Is there a clear and concise list of the setups that I can just print off and start having a mess around with?

    • Printable Axis & Allies Game Boards?

I have pretty much every version from 2nd Edition right the way to 1942, but would really like to start expanding the size of my game boards. I know of a number of companies that can do this but will first require a large image (in PDF format preferably).

Has anyone produced any large sized images of the game boards for printing? If so where can I procure them??

    • RE: When "playing by forum"?

I too would also like some clarification on playing by forum rules:

      Is there an FAQ?

Are built-in forum dice used? (I know these are available on forums powered by Vbulletin).

      Thanks!

      @Jermofoot:

Bruno Ganz is probably the best Hitler I’ve come across.  I never thought I’d use “best” in a sentence with Hitler, but there you go.

Also, I would have a sex change just to have Diane Kruger’s babies.

Bruno Ganz is the best German speaking portrayal of Hitler, but for an English speaking audience that wants to get a an understanding of the character of Hitler and his speaking style from an English perspective then I would have to recommend Derek Jacobi in “Inside the Third Reich”:

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjh0Ukuzc3o

Unlike most English portrayals, which make Hitler’s speaking style resemble that of a raving madman, Jacobi portrays Hitler’s speaking style as it’s been described by Germans of the period - starting slowly, almost hesitant until it starts building itself into a euphoric crescendo. Excellent imo, since it gives more depth to a man that helped change the course of 20th Century History. It also allows the audience to perhaps understand why the German people followed willingly this eccentric little man into the abyss.

Alex Guiness also does a very amusing Hitler, and looks more like the genuine article than any I’ve ever came across:

As for Robert Carlyle’s performance in “Hitler: The Rise of Evil”, I couldn’t watch more than two minutes of it to be honest. Everything about it was pure trash, painting Hitler out to be evil from his very conception: they even tried to suggest, without any historical basis at all, that young Adolf Hitler probably murdered  his own father via poisoning. WTF? Such two dimensional and shallow portrayals do not truly address the subject in my opinion, and merely brush over what is otherwise a very important historical event in the course of human affairs.

    • RE: Global War 1940/41

      Greetings.

I’ve read through this thread and came to the conclusion that I’d like to get a print out of this board.

What is the recommended printing size for someone who intends to use standard AA size figures? Axis & Allies Miniatures look a bit too… well I just don’t like the idea of using them, and I have so many copies of various AA board games editions that there’s more than enough plastic to fill this map.

What would be a good recommended PRACTICAL printing size?

      Thanks,
      Starke.

PS - What is the most current and up to date version of this map, and where can I obtain it? Is there a PDF version?

    • Bigger Game Boards?

Have you made a bigger game board?

If so, how did you go about it? What methods did you employ?

I am looking for inspiration and ideas before I set off making my own larger map.

    • RE: TripleA still up and running! Many players online.

TripleA is a fantastic program, and I’ve had more games this week of Classic 2nd Edition than I have had in my entire gaming life!

I was dismayed when it was closed down by those squalid obtuse mediocrities at WOTC, but am so glad that it’s working again. I’ve been using it to introduce my girlfriend to AA2E, and we’ll be having a game on the actual board later this afternoon  :-D
