RE: HBG's Global War 1939 FAQposted in Global War
Some Questions about the optional Airbase rule!
1. Lets say you make an strategic bombing raid on an airbase and the defender scrambles with his fighters. The SBR is successfully and the airbase is destroyed. Is there the same rule as if an aircraft carrier is destroyed or damaged, the fighters have one space for landing?
2. The airbases have now no defends value, so can an Anti Aircraft gun in the same country defend against the SBR and what happens if both the AA-gun and the airbase are under attack by SBR?
3. Can airplanes defend if there is an ground attack on the country they are inside (they haven’t scrambled before) but the airbase was destroyed before in the same turn by SBR
4. Can you built airplanes in countries that have no airbase, or does it work the same way like ships (you must have both, factory + naval base; factory + air base)?
5. For Landing at the end of the turn, must you have an air base since the beginning of the round, or can you land on a newly built airbase (built in the same turn the airplane takes off)? Because if you built a new carrier, you can land on them
One Question about fortresses, can you build more than one per country?
And what about coastel ships? If e.g. the norway battleships can escape and get british, where can they move? Only at the Great Britain coast? Or have they to stay by Norway coast?

RE: 6.1 setup chartsposted in Global War
Now That the UK navy will last past the second round i figured Germany could use a little boost…
I do not think, that the UK Homefleet (in Seazone 14) will survive the first turn of Germany! You can use this 4 subs + the rest of the “Kriegsmarine” in Seazone 18 + newly built sea units in first impulse of turn 1 to make a massively attack on them in second impulse of the “Blitz” because of the harbor in Stettin, which allows you to move 3 spaces. And the Denmark navy isn’t a block.

Hi Tigerman,
Can you built more than 3 german ships in seazone 18 (Stettin)? Because of the adjacent industriel complex of western Germany, which is also connected to seazone 18 and the harbor in Stettin!
If you can, the new Position of the UK Home Fleet in seazone 14 is not save against german attacks in second Impulse of turn 1.
If you cannot, UK e.g. can only built ships in seazone 47 (if built an Minor IC in Cairo) but not in seazone 64 (Red Sea). Is that correct??? -

Some Questions about Setup 6.0!
What is the change in setup 6.0 in London/Fighter? It is red, but there are the same two figters then in setup 5.0!
And is there now any reason to buy german “SS Panzer Grenadiers”? They cost the same IPC`s than a german armor! I think the armor should cost 6 IPC! -

RE: 1939 Mapposted in Global War
“Die in Europa”
That sounds like quite the new game you’re working on there Tigerman? :PSorry Gargantua, this was a misunderstanding  8-)
There is no new map with this name.ok i get an answer from HGB Europe, they have the new map revised, only the picture on the website is the old one! But the big map is only available in the USA.
@Star of Africa: from where have you all the units and roundels for global 1939, from HGB too?
Hi Babubaer,
I have the minor Axis from HGB Europe, an the painted pieces for global war 1939 from USA. The ground pieces I have from my 7 different Axis & Allies Versions.

RE: 1939 Mapposted in Global War
Thanks, going to order one in Holland :-)
Haben die die grosse dort auch?
I don`t think so, for the big one you have to order in USA!
But you need a very large table to play the big map! -
RE: 1939 Mapposted in Global War
Habe meine schon Ende letzten Jahres erhalten. -
RE: 1939 Mapposted in Global War
Is the latest version of the map (the one w/o Harbours and Airfield) available for download somewhere? I’m living in Germany and would like to print the newest version on self-adhesive Vinyl here locally.
Thank you!
Hi Andy,

RE: House Rulesposted in Global War
Your neutral troops are very good, but there should be also one infantry in Corinth and one in Crete, (Operation Merkur)
-
RE: SUBS Overpowered -and- SUB Clarificaitonsposted in Global War
Since the subs fired they are detected and any remaining units may return fire…
Does this also mean battleships and air units ???
Transports and aircraft carriers cannot fire back, because of the restriction to fire only at air units!?

RE: NOTHING TO DO IN THE PACIFIC :Sposted in Global War
Hi,
No, if Germany takes Holland it gets only the 2 IPC for Holland (IPC’s are lost to the bank), the DEI immediately taken over by FEC. But only the Income, not the troops. So the dutch infantry on the DEI can only defend. The dutch navy is, like all Dutch countries allied with UK (incl. Canada, South Africa, Anzac, FEC) and France since the beginnig of the game. Is not really historical accurate, I know.
So Japan is forced to attack the Dutch DEI or Germany gets a problem with Holland home Guard.

RE: NOTHING TO DO IN THE PACIFIC :Sposted in Global War
Hi,
Already posted, but
an other solution,
you can play, that The Dutch can produce with the half of its territory income (should be 18 [Holland + DEI]) in Holland.
So The Dutch can Produce with 9 IPC’s. So if I were Germany, I would attack Holland as early as possible.
The rest of Holland rules in 5.1 are ok.
In the rules, you can read, that Holland is not a Pro-Allied, it is an Allied, so the Dutch navy can be used together with e.g. ANZAC Navy, but not for attack, but for Protection. -
