there are not 3 more destroyers to UK (compare with setup 6.1), there are the same 9 destroyers, only in other sea zones!!!

Are non-combat moves for german navy allowed in second impulse of “blitzkrieg” e.g. First impulse you use the german transport for attacking norway and in second impulse you use the transport for aktivating Finnland?!
Or is the second impulse only for German land and air units (Finnish troops???)

    • RE: Question about Germanys "Blitzkrieg"

      @Gargantua:

      From how we play.

#1.  YES you can land on a new Airbase you built, like you can land on a carrier, and in impulse #2, use it again.

#2.  YES you can have vichy ships end up in sea zones where there are other allied ships.  So long as the ships move according to the rule.  (Move 2 to nearest Vichy territory, or nearest axis fleet).

In the official 6.1. rules there is no restriction for a only 2 space move for Vichy ships. Vichy ships have only to move to nearest Vichy land territory. So if the nearest Vichy land territory is 3 spaces away you can/have to move there!
Thats our interpretation of the Vichy rule!

If not, the only Vichy land territory you can achieve is “Normandy” or “Bordeaux” because of the next territory for French Normandy Fleet, which maybe can get Vichy is Morocco (4 spaces away).

Give Dutch his 18 IPC at the beginning of turn 1, so if Germany do not conquer Holland, the Dutch can produce in turn 1. But if Holland is captured by Germany, all IPC’s are lost to the bank and not to Germany!

    • Question about Germanys "Blitzkrieg"

      Hi Tigerman,

if you play with the official optional air base rules you must have an air base for take off of all airplanes.

      1. Airbase in Western Germany
Is it possible to built an airbase in first blitzkrieg impulse in Western Germany and use this airbase for landing at the end of first impulse and in second impulse for take off.
Or is this newly built airbase only useable for landing the airplanes at the end of second impulse.

It is very important for an air strike with bombers (and optional fighters, if you built a carrier with Germany) against british Homefleet.

      2. Vichy Fleet
If the French fleet or some ships of this fleet in Sea zone 24 get Vichy after fall of Paris, and the next Vichy land territory is French Morrocco, can you move this ships into sea zone 35 (Gibraltar), although there are British ships?

We had this situation last game and the German player obtained to move the ships into Seazone 35. Was a very bad situation for British player.
Or have you to move the newly Vichy ships into empty Seazones?

    • Straits and Channels clarification

Is it possible to capture e.g. Gibraltar or Denmark in combat phase and move  your fleet through the strait in non combat movement phase in the same turn?
Or must you or one of your ally the owner of Gibraltar or Denmark since the beginning of the turn to move through in non combat movement phase?

The same Question to the other Straits/Channels!

    • RE: Is China restricted?

So Comm. China cannot attack Japan in turn 1,  if UDSSR did not declare war to Japan?
But when Japan attacks Comm. China? can they only defend or can it make an counterattack next turn, even if UDSSR is not at war yet?
The rules say, that Comm. China starts the game at war with Japan. The same rules say also:

Communist China may attack at the same time as Russia as long as both powers are at war with the Axis power to be attacked. So if there is no war between UDSSR an Japan, Comm China can never attack Japan.

    • RE: Why do the allies have such terrible dis-'advantages'?

In our games, 5 times the Axis won and only 1 time the Allies.

UK is strong in Mediteran theather, but cannot do anything against germany. Uk lost in all games his Home Fleet and it is not possible to built a new one until USA is at war, because of german subs and airforce combined with SBR`s on Great Britain to destroy the airfields. (We play with optional airbase and navalbase rules). Germany destroyed the airbases in London and Liverpool in one turn, and the 4 scrambled UK fighters were lost because of having no landing zones in range.

Last game Japan took San Francisco with his sneak attack in turn 3 (no way to block for USA). And with having a range of 4 with his fleet in non combat movement phase, is was possible for Japan in the following turns to reinforce San Francisco for the next 2 turns.
So USA was out of the game.

The Eastern front is also always in german hands. German tanks with the cost of 5 (and also subs) are to cheap.
6 IPC’s for subs and tanks would be a solution for game balance.
With building an airbase in first impulse in Western germany you can use the bombers and by building an carrier also two fighters additionally to minimum 6 subs and the Balstic fleet to destroy the Home Fleet in North Sea.
Maybe the Danish Straight should be closed if you are not the owner of Denmark.

    • RE: Overpowered German Navy

      Hi SS,

thanks for answering, your houserule is an option, but there should be an official clarification, because of in the 6.1 rules you can see:

“The straights are open to all countries as long as Denmark remains neutral.”

So in first impulse of Germanys turn 1 you can move with your german Baltic fleet into North Sea and overtake Denmark in second impulse.

    • Overpowered German Navy

      | In my opinion there are too much german submarines on board at the start of the game.

There are 11 german subs, which can all attack the british navy in the second impulse of turn one, because you can drive through the danish channel in first impulse, when Danmark is still neutral.
Especially the 4 subs in Baltic Sea are too much.
In 1939 there were only 57 germans subs built, but in the game there are 11 subs vs Italien navy had 100 subs in 1939, but in the game there are “only” 5 subs.

Or give the British navy more destroyers (or stronger navy) at the beginnig of the game to get a chance to survive.
German subs are also a litte bit too havy in combination of 5 IPC cost and an attack value of 5, if they operate in Wolfpacks.

In my opinion the german subs (and also the tanks) should cost 6 IPC`s.

Would be fine to get any feedback! |

And if you join a commando, a marine or a japanese SNLF with an artillery during amphibious assaults you can attack with 5 or less?!

      Naval Base (Optional) Rule!?

If you play with that rule and there is a sea battle before the amphibious assault, does the naval base base fire before the sea battle, or can the base only fire at the transports after sea battle.

      E.g.
      1.  there is one destroyer (defender) in sea zone, and the attacker moves into that sea zone with two destroyer, one cruiser, one battleship and 3 loaded transports. Can the defenders naval base fire on the complete attackers navy before the sea battle takes place or only on the transports because the cruiser and battleship cannot make a shore bombardement after sea battle?

      2. If the defender has the option to scramble 2 figters but does not (Uses the figters to defend land territory), can the naval base fire on the complete attackers navy or only on the cruiser and batteship, which want to make a shore bombardement and the transports?

Can you use the naval base first strike, if the japanese make a sneak attack?

Is there -1 for the naval base first strike if germans use the “Eastern front” special rule? (Leningrad naval base)

      Air base (Optional) rule ?!

Can you launche figters to defend against an strategic bombing raid from an adjacent land territory which has an airbase (scramble rule) if yes, only 3 per adjacent air base? Or can you only launch figters by an strategic bombing raid, if the airbase is in the same territory as the factory?
