    • RE: What are the most effective units?

      @DFlynSqrl:

      I tried the transporting the Bazooka with the Jeep tonight.  Worked really well.  I just wish the Jeep had an attack to go along with that .50 Cal sitting on the back of it.  :)

      its a .30 cal machine gun. i have added some house rules to that little jeep, it can now fire, but with a low dice roll, basically you if roll perfect you can take one infrantry solider out
      YES! the KV-1 is great, i had two of them go up against two tigers and an SS panther, the KV-1’s rained supreme!!
      the Mortar M2’S and the Type 89 Mortar’s are great too for their shrapnel very effective against soliders and armor alike.
      got to love that “hulking mass”!!!

      You can’t board AT gun…

      Actually there is nothing in the rulebook that I know of that prevents an AT Gun from boarding any vehicle with Transport. It IS considered a ‘Soldier’ on the card and therefore can be in affect ‘towed’ using the Transport ability of the vehicle.

      i agree!!! but like i said in my other post about this, in the Sd Kfz 251, the anti tank “solider” should not be allowed to fire while in transport mode.

    • RE: Transporting Artillery

      hey if its in the rules! how else do you think they moved those things around. the only stipulation that i would have is this. the German Sd Kfz 251 has a feature called “Fighting Platform” this means that a soldier carried by this unit can attack during your assult phase if that unit doesn’t move during that phase. I don’t think i would let the anti tank guns fire from this thing like that, otherwise you just have another tank, one fast tank with very little armor at that.

      no problem. these guys made a mistake with my order, but a good one. i ordered 10 M4A1 Shermans for about$1.50 each, what I got was 10 M4A3E8 Sherman “Easy Eights”. for the same price, I was real happy about that, i only has one of those previously.

    • RE: D-Day Scenario Issue

      i go along with that, splitting these up into differant groups would be the best way to go about it. and if you want to be true to the events of June 6th then you cant even add any armor until you take the beach, it would just have to be a butt load of infrantry chargin a bunch of mg-42’s and a lot of German infrantry, and don’t for get the motors. the germans would have to get all sorts of cover +'s, their all in pill box’s and such. the advantage of the allied invasion was sheer numbers, the axis army would have to be MUCH smaller to the allies. the paratroopers made the first wave of the allied push, so they would have to go first to take out the artillery focused on the beach heads, and lets just say that they fail that, then when it comes time for the beach part of the game you have to take into account that those guns are still there and shelling the crap out of the allies.

      i thought about setting one of these up, infact i thought at some point i might just go through the whole war. but i was planing on starting in Italy and Africa. a lot of work, but i think it will be fun. allthough i always roll better dice when I’m the axis, so the allies might just get the crap kicked out of them, oh well, I’m just happy its not real. otherwise i might be speaking German now :|

      @djensen:

      Nazi related graphics, particularly the swastika, although historical, are offensive symbols of hate. And personally, I would not buy a game that used the swastika in it’s product. If I found out after buying it, I would demand a full refund of my money.

      the swastika is not an evil symbol. don’t get me wrong, i am no fan of the Nazi’s in any shape or form, as far as I’m concerned those to A-bombs were wasted on japan and should have been dropped much more to the west. but the swastika was borrowed by the Nazis from Buddhism, the swastika stands for unity and overall peace, things that Hitler promised germany when he came to power, allthough his modes of thinking changed for the very worst, the symbol remained the same. besides, i always thought that fearing something, or hating something gave that “something” even more power

      my old man served with the 1st in Nam, he said if he was with any other unit he probably wouldn’t be alive today, which means i wouldn’t be writting this right now, so i have a place for the 1st in my heart, even though i did my time in the core.

      i have always found that its best to just go over the ground rules, then just start palying and have them learn as you go. with in a few games (unless they are really stupid) they should have it. 8-)

    • RE: Firearms anyone????

      if your grandfather shorsun is 100 years old it must be a simple break open, single, maybe two shot. if i am right, then there is no reason it shouldnt work, maybe clean it ALOT, and check to see if the firing pins are still there and in good condition. if all the above is right, then you have the rifle you need to protect your family, its loud, and people are more accurate with a shot gun (if your using bird shoot that is) a shot gun can really mess a person up, but most people survive it. so you can shoot someone with out the fear of killing them, that seems to be a bouns to them.

      im drunk right now too, i dont know what i just wrote hope it helps or makes sence.

    • Firearms anyone????

      after reading the whole 2nd AMD. deal i thought that i might ask if anyone in here actually owns a firearm, and if so what kind, or kinds?

      i own an M-4, an M1-A, M1 Garand, 1911 A1 in .45, a Savage bolt action 30.06, an over under and a side by side 12 G, a combat shootgun and a breeching shotgun both in 12 G and both built by me. an HK G3, and an HK USP tactical in .45. and soon i will own a single shot bolt action .50 BMG rifle, very nice.
      i was asst. range master in the core, not bad for my age, and while on ship i taught classes on the breacher ( shotgun).
      well thats me, what do any of you got, i know at least one of you owns something.

      PS i don’t hunt, i am a target shooter only, if that makes a difference to you animal friendly people in here.  :mrgreen:

    • RE: Map Question

      since my last post i did a few new things. i went to kinkos and had to large pster sized hex grids printed up. i kept it just black and white. you can do color but it isnt cheap. i then scaned in all the different types of terrein theier is (ie swamps, water, trees, crap like that) i printed about 10 pages of each in color, and cut them up into hex’s. some as singles and some as groupings. the point is that i can cjange them when ever i want. i then got a peice of plexyglass that fit over this thing. after a while with that i bought a bunch of diff. colored dry erase markers, i use them to show disruption/damage/destroyed. its a hell of alot easier than pciking up those little dots all the time. and when donw just wipe it off. its easy and very effective.

      @DFlynSqrl:

      Where did you buy your individual units?  I have seen some on eBay, but don’t know anywhere else you can buy them outside of booster packs.

    • RE: MOD

      one thing i have noticed in games like this is the whole “PC” aspect of it. for some reason they are afraid to show nazi realted graphics, sure they have the cross but that was more the german army, not the actual nazi’s. one really simple thing that bugged me was that the panzer IV’s didnt have the first SS symbol “aka the mystical key” on it. so i just put them on, its simple, and easy, and it makes each little war i have in my living room that much more personal. I have also gone as far as selecting some of my M1 Garand guys and adding a BIG RED 1 to thier right arms, i also made me stat card for them, nothing speical, but i gave them the special power to feed off of eachother, one guy gets dirupted and the other guys take it away, pretty much need to rool a 2 hit deal to waste them. i thought it was cool.

      @Otto_Skorzeny:

      Major Konings, you have three Tigers ??? Man, you’re truly lucky. So far, I have bought the starter kit and 11 boosters and I haven’t got even one.

      My rares are:
      1 Renault R-35
      1 KV-1
      1 T-34/76
      2 Churchill Crocodile
      2 Crusader II
      2 M18 Hellcat
      1 sIG 33
      1 Carro Armato
      1 Type 95 Ha-Go

      Plus I’ve got all the Uncommon (minus the Type 92 Machine-Gun Team) and almost all the Commons (minus the SMLE No.4 Rifle). In my starter, I think I got my loosy Renault R-35…

      i got lucky, but i also bought some alone, i like tigers, not just for thier playability, but, well, they rock. i have found though the the KV-1 is one hard nut to crack if you want to take that literally, the whole negate the first damage speical ability has saved me so many times. i want more of those, more more more!!

    • RE: The French Resistance

      well concidering that this first set was focused on the western front of the european campian, and the next set is big into the eastern campain, i would think that the third set, if there ever is one will be on the pacific campain. probley have alot more japenese, maybe some aussie’s, china, philippines, singapore, it could be a very good set if thats what they do.

      true, but it is something i might do personally, i am willing to keep more records and throw more dice to keep it as accurate and realistic as possible. those paratroopers, if used properly could be devasating, so i think it only far to even the odds for the defender. but hey, thats just me.

    • The French Resistance

      does anyone else think that they should throw a  few french resistance pieces in with the next wave of pieces? as far as WWII is concerned they were the only french people that mattered (in favor of the allies anyway, the rest helped the germans). there could be a few differeant ones, sappers, or just some civi car with a machine gun. am i stupid, or does that sound like a good idea?

      in the first starter set i bought i got the standard panzer 4 and the sherman, but i also got a tiger 1, very cool!!! in the many booster packs i have bought since then i have acumalated 5 shermans, 4 panzer 4’s, 3 tigers, 4 KV-1, and 6 carro armato m13/40’s. plus a whole bunch of anti tank guns, and multipules of every infrantry man, including commanders. i think i got lucky, but i did spend alot of money.

    • RE: Axis & Allies Miniatures Set II Previews

      @Pzer:

      :-) I think that paratroopers should have had a “possiblity of mis-drop”. such as

      Identify target drop hex, on a roll of 5 or 6 the paratroop has misdropped. Oppossing player may
      relocate target drop hex one hex  ajacent to orginial drop hex.

      This would similate the many misdrops that occurred  during the war.

      i think this should be taken a step further, as proven on the Normandy drops many paratroopers landed with out there weapons, or with out ammo. there should be rolls to figure out how well equiped these guys land, and if they land in the right hex or not.
