U-505,  You went through non-sub phases to get where you are currently.  Why sweat the next phases?  Just consider yourself a “stealthy submariner” disguised as something else entirely! :-D

Sounds like a game worth looking into!  I plan to upgrade computers pretty soon, so that might be a good graphics test   Thanks for the tip MW.

    • RE: Axis & Allies Guadalcanal

Unless there is more information than a major battle in the Pacific, it could be any number of the islands or sea battles (Iwo Jima, Guadacanal, Saipan, Tinian, Battle of the Coral Sea, The Marianas Turkey Shoot, Okinawa, and many others)  How about a fictionalized invasion of the Japanese home islands?  The battle plans for the invasion and Japan’s defense are available, now from archives.  Secret weapons available for the Japanese could even the balance of power (without the A-bomb).

There are several interesting possibilities.  It should be an interesting game. :-D

Great analysis, akreider2.  This is generally called “straffing”, and it is very useful in certain game situatiions.

Interesting!  In English comp class, we were assigned to make a logical sentence starting with the word “that” five times consecutively.  Same theory of construction. :-P

Yanny, what do you think of the movement controls?  That’s the thing that intrigued me.  I tend to use “body english”, when I play games, anyway.  This way, maybe it will help.  lol

lol  Can people really believe this stuff?!  I had an uncle that talked like that once, and the men in white coats took him away.  These are the relatives nobody talks about.  Great stuff!

    • RE: Kramer loses his cool

He was allowed to perform the next night at the same club, because he said he would apologize on stage.  He failed to do so, and was not allowed to perform there again.

But keep in mind that a transport can pick up troops from different zones for unloading at a common departure point.  Sometimes this is overlooked.

Very interesting, Switch, especially with the German player’s option for sub placement.  I’m anxious to hear of any test games results. :-D

    • RE: Time Traveling

I think that if time travel were possible, it would be impossible to detect any changes you made in the past, because you would have lived to the point of your time travel departure knowing about the change as history.  An impartial and spatial time removed observer would be the only intelligence that would notice any time line change.

Since you’re from the timeline that you’re affecting, as soon as the change is made, to you it would always have been that way.

As for the werewolf question the individual would never become a werewolf, because he would have no moonlight (full or otherwise) to be the change catalyst.

By the way…How does Stephen Hawkings know that we aren’t flooded with future tourists?  It stands to reason they would try to blend in with society.  We probably wouldn’t know a future tourist if we spoke with one.

    • RE: Atari

If I’m recalling correctly, it will be different.  It’s a real-time sim/strategy instead of turn-based.
And Switch is right…it isn’t very expensive.

    • RE: Do you take Astralia/NZ/Hawaii as Japan?

Unless you’re trying to divert US forces from the European theater, Hawaii is too big a gamble.  AUS and NZ are later round acquisitions, since your trns are better utilized getting troops into Asia early on. :-D

Yes, Band of Brothers was a really good series.  For Christmas I bought the series for my son, when it came out on DVD’s.  He’s enjoyed it as much as I did.  I’ll be looking forward to the new one.  Hope it measures up.

    • RE: Help me secure an Allied victory?

It will make it tougher.  You should push into Asia hard with Japan to force Russia into a 2-front war.  Try to disallow the Allies shuck-shuck assistance.  Consider a Japanese attack to take the African IC (I assume in South Africa).  If you take SA and the IC, you can gain the IPC’s for Africa for Japan and place that much more pressure on Russia.  Remember you have 3 paths to Moscow.  You can go primarily for one, or you can use a combination.  You get more forces in place quickly, if you don’t try to use all three.  Don’t forget to get the IPC’s for Australia and New Zealand, and remember that you can reach Alaska in one move from EJS.  Most of the time that’s just a thorn in the side for the US, but it can’t be ignored, either.

That’s a pretty jumbled answer, but maybe you can glean something from it.  Good-luck. :-D

    • RE: Napoleon and alexander

I think it really depends on your views of what makes a great general.  Is it the strategy, tactics, methodology, diplomacy, or combinations of these?  I think Kahn is overlooked by many, because he was considered more of a raider than a general.  If he had the same army and technology, I believe he could hold his own with any of the generals mentioned.  Just my opinion, of course.
