    • RE: Quick question

In WWII most fighters did not carry a large quantity of bombs, so their damage was from rocket pods or strafing with machine guns and cannon.  A soldier with a sub-machine gun or mounted 50 cal. could shoot down a low flying plane on a strafing run.

Thanks for the tip, cystic crypt.  I’ll keep an eye out for the touring production. :-)

    • RE: Third time in a row!!!

Maybe not surprising, ajgundam5, but certainly deserving of praise.  The US invented the game of basketball, but now struggles for dominance…point of reference.

Cystic Crypt, congratulations to the gold medal winners.  Their hard work paid off! :-D

    • RE: Clarification needed on artillery

The infantry has an enhanced attack when supported by artillery.  If the artillery is lost, the infantry is no longer supported by the artillery; therefore, it reverts to its normal attack of “1”.

    • RE: Rule question: Trading.

Trading would be the same as giving loans in monopoly.  It would destroy the essence of the game.  Management of your resources is part and parcel with the combat management of the game IMHO.

    • RE: A question.

Hitler had a lot of ‘quiet time’ in prison, and he organized his thoughts on seizing power and raising Germany’s power and prestige in the world view.  He set this up as a guideline, and he followed it.  People who read it at that time didn’t believe it, I guess.

No, Jensen, it is we who should thank you.  Thanks for all your work in getting this site up and running and keeping it humming along!  Kudos.

    • RE: Hostile sea zone AC build question

I agree with U-505’s reasoning.  The combat phase of that turn is completed prior to unit placement.  The hostile forces still have the option to engage or remove themselves from the disputed sea zone during their turn.

It allows Russia to fortify itself, but it takes away the preemtive strike.

    • RE: Fgt movement & landing question

Clay, you had the correct interpretation of my answer.  When I said the AC move was optional, that was only if the ftr was destroyed.  Then the AC can be moved wherever you wish or not moved at all.  If the ftr survives the attack, a save landing must be provided (AC, island, shoreline), unless you’re playing kamikazee rules.

    • RE: Two Rules Questions

      fouriercrux,

The AA guns can fire once per turn at each airplane attacking their residence country or crossing that country in an attack movement.  They do not fire during non-combat moves.

Fighters on an AC that is a battle casualty may land on an island within or shoreline adjacent to the seazone in which the AC sunk.  Basically, the fighters have a 1 square move to land safely.

      Hope this helps.

    • RE: Fgt movement & landing question

The AC move is required only if the ftr needs the AC to land safely.  If the ftr is shot down or if there is another landing possibility (friendly territory/island), the AC move is optional, but is not required. :-D

    • RE: Fighter/Carrier Movement Question

Nor does it count as a move to “take off” from a carrier to the occupied sea zone.  If the ftr is on a carrier, it can move 3 spaces maximum from the carrier, if it intends to land on the same carrier.  The carrier must then move 2 spaces toward the ftr in the non-combat move, while the ftr returns 1 space to land.  (It’s a lot easier to understand looking at the board.)
