Given the new capital ship repair rules, I think cruisers are a better build in this game. Sure, they don’t have the same hitting power as a battleship, but you also don’t have to worry about trying to get to a naval base to repair after taking the hit on the battleship (assuming you buy the cruiser/destroyer combo on the same (or maybe separate) turns). I’m still not sure if the cruisers are really worth what you pay for them (and I like the house rule that’s been suggested elsewhere of giving cruisers AA fire in the opening round), but then, I’m a fan of the cruiser and buy them regardless of whether or not they’re “worth it.”

RE: Greece and Yugoslavia… National Objective?
I don’t know how likely it would be for such a rule to be included, but it would certainly be interesting. If nothing else, it would make a compelling house rule. Create some political tension, plus an incentive for the US and UK to want to go into the Mediterranean (something I’ve rarely seen, from Europe to Revised to AAA50). I like the sound of it. :-D

RE: What will be wrong with AAAE: 1940?
Well I can imagine the tech system will have some flaws, seeing as they delved away from it for a whole game, thus becoming rusty. Germany will surely be short mech infantry (although they can confiscate Frances when they take her out of the game lol). Honestly I think you guys are missing the scariest part. The NEXT game is when it is going to go to hell in a hand basket. I figure the next axis and allies will have no plastic pieces with only cardboard tokens, but we may get lucky i guess as this cost reduction may allow them to add the paper money back in. Or to throw us for a loop an abbacus.
Well, if we’re honest with ourselves, if WOTC produces the next game, chances are they’ll charge MORE for the version that has all cardboard tokens then they charged us for the ones with the nice plastic playing pieces. But, if this turns out to be the case, FMG will end up with plenty of business from disgruntled fans buying up scores of their sets of plastic pieces for the game. :-P

RE: Accurate Miniature Equivalents for Custom Painting your 1940 E&P
I’m actually rather curious to see UK next, just because I’d like to see how our glorious painter makes them distinct from the ANZAC forces. Though I doubt anyone here would complain if US comes next, because these paint jobs are INCREDIBLE.
Makes me wish I had the time, patience, and fine motor skills to paint my own A&A pieces. But no, all I’ve got is pieces envy. :-P
