Yo. I am not telling you what to do but I think your last post was not necessary. You made your point in last 2 previous posts. Just saying
I’ve seen greater vitriol over chess clocks. :)

RE: 1940 vs anniversary balanceposted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
Give each country $50 extra a turn. There will certainly be more units all over the board. But it doesn’t make the game itself better. Just longer.
The lack of income forces choices among the players. Japan must choose navy vs infantry. These strategic choices make the game better. JMHO.

RE: We need an allied playbook.posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I am not a fan of Gibraltar. I know that some people do not like Taranto. But if there is no Taranto then shouldn’t the units at least be going to Tobruk? Leaving Italy alone can make them a monster. I agree with a sub bid in the med and doing Taranto.
My sea lion concern would be a carrier build on G1 and transports on G2 or G3. That may include transports on G1 or just sub and destroyer. If Germany goes G3 and Japan is at India G3 then you cannot build for the Persia factory you built Uk2.
As I said, my alternate would be using the SA factory. Transport units from the factory directly to the mid east. Doesnt require the early 15 ipc investment. That’s 5 more units for London. Once London is safe, then you can have 3 factories to churn out units.
Try a slower version. UK1 stage all troops in trans Jordan to attack Iraq uk2. Purchase for London and SA.
Uk2 take iraq and activate Persia. Still build in SA and London.
Uk3 you can place a complex in either Iraq or Persia depending on the game situation.

RE: 1940 vs anniversary balanceposted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
There are several FTF tournaments during the year. Origins in Columbus, Gencon in Indianapolis, three CA tournaments, and many others. You should find good competition at many conventions, though I think the cream of the crop attend Gencon.

Notably, Manchuria does not count as originally controlled. I have no idea why it doesnt, since you control that territory at the start of the game.

RE: Anniversary Errata Optional Rule: Escorts and Interceptorsposted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
Gencon has never used that rule during its tournaments. So I cant speak to that. Typically the 1942 bid is a single unit which really determines the side more than anything. Closing the straits might upset that balance.

I know what is in the rule book. But it’s still nonsense. Why are Norway and Romania considered original German territories? Because that makes no sense either…

RE: Bid with national objectives off?posted in 1942 Scenario

Hi all,
I used to play this with NOs on, but lately I’ve been wanting to give it another go without them. I know with them on I traditionally give the Allies a hefty bid, but considering how much the NOs favor the Axis, I’m curious if anyone on here has an idea of what a fair bid looks like when playing without the objectives enabled.Typical Gencon bids for the 42 version of AA50 is 3-5 to the Axis, without NO’s.

The largest problem with any AA game has been the bombers. Classic was simply luck. Buy bombers. Get heavy bomber tech as usa and you cant lose.
I’ve heard of this strategy, but in my many, many recent games against a variety of opponents, many on this forum, I have never seen anyone actually do this. Furthermore, I don’t feel the statistics bear this out as a game breaking strategy.
You would have thought people had learned by now. But nope. AA50 again required the optional rule. At least it was in the rulebook and Gencon adopted it for tournaments almost immediately.
Technically, its not in the rule book. It’s in the errata but this is hair splitting, of course.
I feel that classic and global did the best job with regards to SBR rules.
Perhaps you should get heavy bombers in classic as USA and see how game breaking it is first hand.
I prefer the AA50 fighter interceptors rule. Anything else is simply a worse option in my opinion.

@squirecam check out Sired Bloods map for face 2 face games. He kept all territorys in Sand colors. Maybe this is something for you to Look in.
He also realigned some territory connections. Very good made. Also i think Young Grashoppers maps are remodelt. If you are interested in these let us know and we provide the links or look for the house rule forum or the Customizing forum.
It’s not really the colors but the ic restriction I have an issue with.
Also the colors on the map make it easier to count up the ipc. But thanks and I’ve seen his map on youtube. People should check it out.

RE: National Objectives vs balanceposted in 1941 Scenario
@the_good_captain said in National Objectives vs balance:
Question for serious players of Anniversary:
Do you play with NOs? If you do what is the bid like?
I have found it pretty heavily in favor of the axis so generally leave this optional rule to the side but am still curious.
I play 42 no Objectives no tech and interceptor rule because it’s balanced. Playing with the NO would require a large bid.

RE: Help! American declaration of war privilegeposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Japan only gets the $10 if they dont declare war against the UK as well. So if they declared war against them USA can declare war at any time after that.
For this situation to “work” Japan could only ever declare war with China and Russia.
That being said, the special case is referring to the timing of the declaration. Normally you cant declare after combat ends.
I dont think it’s intended that USA can never declare war if it doesnt on turn 3. It’s intended that usa can declare war any time after turn 3, but can do so after combat on turn 3 in order to get the immediate bonus income.
I’m a lawyer and a rules lawyer. But your friends argument doesnt make sense.
