More USAF olive drab
Complete Russian ground forces, followed by complete Luftwaffe
Winter scheme Russian airforce, followed by gray scheme, then complete Russian airforce.
Hey guys- Here’s some pics of my painted Europe 1940 set (as much of it as I have finished) More pics will come when I paint the pieces. Any feedback or comments are welcome!
These are the Olive Drab Russian Airforce.
Framk T- Wow, sweet plan!! It reads like a political thriller or the end of the world… Japan and Germany teaming up to attack the East Coast?!?! Unheard of!
Overall, I agree with everyone else in that it would be very risky, but A&A is about having fun, so I would say go for it!! Have some fun, it’s just a game. Great idea… don’t know if it will succeed, but it’s worth a shot. :-D
haha thanks. I’ll make a new forum in the Europe board (this is my Europe 1940 set) with the pics of all the things I’ve done. I’ve finished the American infantry, Russian ground vehicles, American airforce, British fleet, German airforce, and some more Italian planes…
Here are my Italian greyhound fighters… I’ll upload some pics of the rest of the Italian airforce later. Any thoughts greatly appreciated!!
Once I start the US ships, I’ll make a video of ink washing…ships are the best example.
Can anyone tell me how to put a link up or post pics on here? I’ve been having problems.
I plan on making a series of posts with helpful vid clips/& pics on painting A&A minis, I’ll be using FMG’s new line. It is really a lot easier than most people imagine.
Yes, I’ve found that it is mostly just a matter of practice and experience. My first pieces weren’t that great, but after painting my whole 1942 set, my Europe set is looking awesome! I’ve been thinking about making a video about ink washing/dark washing pieces…it really makes everything pop, especially ships. We’ll see.
By the way, I’ve been trying to post a link to the flickr account with my pics, but I can’t seem to do that, even with the hyperlink tool…anyone know how? Thanks!
Hey, I like those house rules!
Do you have any pics of the RAF? Thanks
Bombers are generally a waste of money if you’re playing the Russian strategy- hold em n the ground. To make a bomber effective on the front lines, you must attack with a buffer so you don’t lose it in the 2nd round of combat… So yeah, theyre pretty good on offense. However, to go behind enemy lines and pester the weak inf and tanks… The odds are bad. Either pair your bomber with fighters and tactical bombers (which Russia can’t spare) or risk a bomber getting shot down by a tank or inf… The odds are poor for you :| overall, they are a bad use of money. Useful in some situations? Yes. But overall, go with mech infantry or something.
Yep. 2 bombers is standard. Both historically and realistically, Russia did not have need of many bombers… their war was mainly a ground war (with fighters and tactical bombers of course). Russian bombing never really played a huge role in the war. Also, in the actual board game, a good German opponent will force you to spend money on ground forces… any time you can purchase bombers frequently, especially as Russia, your enemy isn’t threatening you very much. So, in MOST games, Russia won’t need more than 2 bombers.
@special:
Edit: one time i had considered an airbase at Malta so the US could move their fleet in (and land some extra planes on Malta for scrambling), but finally it never got built.
Yes, I’ve considered the Malta airbase as well. If you’re not a hardcore “I must win no matter what” person, than it is a really fun strategy and can pay off. If you have an allied fleet in the Med to provide a little bit of support, then a Malta full of fighters can be deadly for Axis fleets, as well as North Africa and Southern Germany/ parts of Russia and France. It would definitely be a great idea to support the American landing in North Africa and/or Italy.
