Well, you could ask what the point is for any house rules. In this case it is added realism, if you refer to my initial post.

I am really only expecting for France/Dutch to be the only new power. We will still have Italy, but I would bet that Canada will be part of the commonwealth, part of the Anglo’s control.

I just don’t like seeing P-38s on carriers.
I am with you on that, unless of course they are cargo.

Seperation for Naval and Land Air forces.posted in House Rules
“Feel Free to move this thread to the house rules”
What do you guys think about separating land air forces from naval air forces?
For example, all the aircraft that start out on carriers (TAC bombers and Fighters) are Naval air units which can operate on carriers. The Naval units can also operate on land, but the Land units cannot operate on carriers reflecting the special training required for fleet air operations. I don’t see any reason to make them cost any different, although if one did I suppose the naval variety ought to be pricier since it is more versatile.
This might help keep Japan from getting such an advantage in air power since they would no longer be able to throw down carrier after carrier for defense in later turns, but would now need to build the naval air forces required.
Just a thought. -

I downloaded it. Good job so far. Cannot wait till they get it finished. Many thanks to all the hard work.

RE: Missing U.S. unit typesposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
The p-38 is not a single engined fighter, it has two turbocharged engines. I would have preferred a P-40 warhawk mold or like you said, a hellcat or wildcat, to better reflect America’s equipment in 1940. A b-25 as the Tactical bomber might have been cool as well.

RE: New Guineaposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
But you can put ports or airbases on Islands, including New guinea correct?
IF New guinea is considered an Island, it doesn’t have the IC ability to place a factory anyway, plus being an Island makes that impossible. Is New Zealand considered an Island even though it is not fully surrounded by water on all sides, since it runs off the board?
Did they split up new guinea that way so you specifically could not utilize the scramble feature there? It is a pretty critical area for ANZAC if they want to get their bonus money. I have had decent success with using the Solomans as an airbase to defend the fleet around it. It is defend able against the Carolines and also has plenty of routes through the back to Western US and Australia. It does require ANZAC to cough up 15$ for it though, which could be a destroyer and a transport, also very important.

My only request is that they do a little more proofreading and pre flight checks!

RE: Triple A is AWESOMEposted in TripleA Support
My mac version has been giving me an java error. I am thinking of re downloading it and reinstalling it, which usually fixes the problem.
Does anybody know how to get the Pacific 1940 file to work on TripleA? What folder do you unpack it in?? Will it work on the Mac version?
Thanks to any with info.

USA all the way, I have preferred them ever since the original version of the game. Still love em.

New Guineaposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I a have tried to search the forum, but couldn’t find any info on this. If it is already on here, then blame the search engine, not me (kidding, this is actually a really great forum)
Can I get an official answer on whether or not an airfield placed on either of the new guinea territories can scramble fighters or not?
I know the rulebook states that an Island is one territory, surrounded by 1 sea zone, but Japan has special rules, and I don’t have to explain to you all how poorly the rules were issued. Also thanks to all the hard work that everyone is doing in updating and improving the rules.
Krieghund?
Imperious Leader?
Whats the official score on New Guinea airfield? -
RE: Do you want canada as a powerposted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
In the Pacific 1940 game, Canadian Territories have a different roundel so doesn’t that hint that they will be a seperate power?
The main problem with adding in new countries in the global A&A game is that there are way more allied nations than axis and you quickly have 10 on the allied side and only really 4 I can think of on the Axis (Germany and Japan obviously with Italy and the minor allies {Bulgaria, Finland, Romania, Spain}) -
RE: If Sealion was successful, would India have rebelled?posted in World War II History
I believe that The Nazi’s did try to coup British Rule in India before and during the war and also attempted to form the Tiger Legion http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indische_Legion
India would definitely gone independent. They had 10 million plus die in famine that was a result of Britain having to feed home England first before her colonial subjects. I would say the Indians would have been pretty pissed about that.

RE: Naval Base in Alaska wins the gameposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
makes me wonder how much the game was actually “playtested” honestly. The errata is going to be bigger than the rulebook.
Maher C.
I think that they should re-issue a second edition and provide it to those who bought this shabbily tested game (don’t get me wrong, I like it and it has potential). The should as least give those that purchased the disaster version with some sort of coupon or rebate. Yeah right, like that’s ever gonna happen.

RE: Kill USA Firstposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I think Vareel is totally correct. For Japan to attack the USA is not a sound strategy, even if your playing against a complete greenhorn. I tried it playing myself and the US can totally block your invasion, even if not they can still plop down defensive infantry once you are within range.

Yes there was exposure to the Enigma machine, how do you explain the quickness with which the Japanese code was cracked?
-
RE: Russia 1 attacksposted in 1942 Scenario
Be aggressive as Russia but not too much so, Move all infantry in the east westward because those territories are not very valuable and Japan will just slaughter you if they want to. build at least one or tow more fighters and a Tech a turn. You gotta figure that all the units Russia begins the game with are as good as dead already.

RE: U.S & Germanyposted in World War II History
being at “war” officially is only meaningful in semantics. The U.S. was already at War with Germany as soon as they invaded France and the Netherlands. For a short time we were attempting to recruit them as anti-commie buddies but that obviously was not going to work out.
Both US and Germany had multiple spies operating against each other, especially when it came to Atomic research, which was already well under way in 1941. There were politicians and citizens who were lied to about the deaths of Americans on merchant shipping that uboats were sinking. There were many begging Roosevelt for war in the US for a long time before Pearl Harbor.
We were already at war with Japan before Pearl Harbor, we were operating the flying tigers (totally against the geneva convention) in China against Japan (a clear stance of War) while supporting our puppet Chaing. We were also enforcing an embargo against Japan’s oil to bait them into aggression to make it look like they started it, a plan that eventually worked in what we call “Pearl Harbor” a wonderfully planned (by the US) event to get us into the war which the wall street big boys desperately wanted.
Whats up with the codes we cracked for both Japan and Germany? Does anybody really believe we were just able to magically crack them because we were smarter and they were inferior? The ruskies never cracked them, and we weren’t about to provide them with that information. Please!, its obvious the bankers knew who was going to win and geared us up for it. They placed most of their bets on us, while draining our enemies dry and came out rich as all hell. Look at Switzerland if you want proof. A small, defenseless country with the most international banks at the time. Notice this country is NEVER touched by any side in either WWI or WWII despite untold carnage raging all around it. Think about it, its a no brainer.
Think about it, we went from a pretty rural and slightly militarized nation to becoming the largest and most powerful economic and military power the world had ever seen, ONLY because of our involvement in WWII. We just needed some time to gear up and decide who our enemies would be.

RE: ANZAC Tactics/New Guineeaposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
its tough to make purchases as Anzac. When you could really use an airbase on New guinea you just can’t really afford one. That’s my major complaint anyhow.

RE: Cruisers?posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
In house rules you could always have two seperate units, light cruisers and heavy cruisers or battlecruisers.
Light cruisers could be 3/2 move 3 and cost 10 where battlecruisers could be 4/3 move 3 and cost 12. no double hit though since in reality battlecruisers had battleship firepower but sacrificed armor for speed.
