      Brilliant idea!

      Maybe this can be useful for you?

      Magnetic adhesive tape:
      http://www.custom-magnets.com/magnetic_tape.htm

      or here, but it is in dutch (but looks more like “real” scotch tape):

      Don’t know about ther thickness of it, or the strength, but it might be a way.

    • RE: UK1 @ SZ 95 scenario question

      @RogertheShrubber:

      With the German naval station in Western Germany you can bypass 110 and do a landing in seazone 109.

      That too, although such an attack (if survived) is easier to block the next turn, where they german fleet has to go all the way back again (while even if they take UK they cannot use the naval bases there)

    • RE: Germany True Neutral Crush G3

      as USA i will also gladly harvest the 6 extra IPC’s and a couple of inf. in South America.

      Attacking true neutrals sounds really insane, you’d have to attack all 3 major neutral countries succesfully at once (sweden, turkey and spain) and you’ll be giving up the obstacle that SPain always used to be for the allies.

      It does show a lot of axis balls ;)

    • RE: UK1 @ SZ 95 scenario question

      @Imperious:

      UK needs to buy 9 infantry AND move the block fleet to SZ 110 ( CV , DD, 2 fighters).

      Tactical bomber moves to UK with 3rd fighter.

      This saves UK, but also gets an exchange with German air making Sealion G3 much harder.

      But it at least saves the Italian fleet if Germany does buy 1 CV and 2 AP on G1

      Problem with blocking SZ110 is that Germany can take Scotland to stack for a joined attack on England in a next turn… i have found SZ12 to be the crucial zone to block (less easy since it is 1 more step away…). Local blocking just stops costals, no?

    • RE: AAE40 is a wonderful game like AAP40 ( edited out thanks to only 4 fighters)

      @Imperious:

      yes now i prefer the two step deal for sealion defense.

      UK blocks with CV,DD, 2 fighters on sea, and builds a 9 Inf land force. Germany cant take them both.

      Every turn UK can delay the sealion is very valuable, but is buying DD’s etc for that not worse in the long run? (meaning it is less land defence in the long run)

      Haven’t really counted it all out (and yeah, i have lost UK to Sealion without buying extra naval forces, i did go for the italian fleet and maybe i should have taken the planes from the Gibraltar AC to UK instead … )

      Edit: french fleet can be really valuable here too, by the way.

      Is there an option “i really don’t know” ?  :-D

      They were all turning points in a way. i suppose it is the combination of “kinda decisive battles” that did it.

    • RE: Seriously?

      i don’t agree that P40 is broken. I haven’t played that many times yet (i played both sides though), but not 1 time has Japan really won in our playing group.

      In the long run the allies always came back, sometimes they won (thanks to cunning combined tactics and/or a few japanese mistakes), and we also had some stalemates (japan having all the mainland but lost all naval force, while USA dominated all the seas, with Japan getting 1 VC short). Yes India falls, so what? that doesn’t mean japan has won. It can be even useful for the USA (capturing UK territory becoming american). Even though Japan might have more chances to win, doesn’t mean the game would be broken. just harder for the allies (who really have to synchronise and cooperate at their maximum potential)
      I really think some people give up too fast.

      As for Europe 40 (and global), it is too soon for me to have any opinion about it.

    • RE: E40 after action reports

      @calvinhobbesliker:

      @cond1024:

      @calvinhobbesliker:

      French inf liberating UK was WIN. Axis’s experience seemed to be decisove

      Win?? When?? If that was the question, France had 1 inf in scotland (moved there on F2) that retook London on F3.  Allies did make a few mistakes, like putting entire UK navy within range of german air force and navy and Russia not bringing large southern force back to protect stalingrad.  I think Russia didn’t think my Itialian force coming from the Mid East could take Stalingrad, but it did with pieces to spare.

      @UN:

      Did the French player stack up the 3 infantry in North Africa in Algeria? If not…well, that should be a textbook move. Three lone infantry is worse off than three combined infantry.

      They stacked 2 inf in algeria, tunisia inf was killed I1 with 2 inf and 1 tank

      When I said “WIN,” I meant it. It means, according to urban dictionary: The action or reaction to the direct opposite of a fail. A win is a moment of such epic sucess that it needs not be acknowledged with more than an understated “Win” which signifies the moments’ need to be granted the tag of a “Win” due to its importance in the History of Human existance.

      It’s funny how french units still can do great things. In my game i managed to squeeze a french cruiser in the middle of german fleets, blocking them to pick up units and thus delaying Sealion 1 turn. I lost UK later but that move was a WIN for me (and a fail for german deploying)

    • RE: Sea zone colors Europe vs Pacific

      @GrayBlaZe:

      Yes and I have even a bigger color difference between the two European boards.  So much so that when I show it off so far to three different people the first thing thay say is wow the size is impressive, the second thing is, “look how different the blue is in the sea between these two boards.” stands out big time.  Not a big deal to me but I can see how obvious it is when it keeps getting pointed out…

      Ours also has quite a color difference. There’s more yellow in the blue of the Pacific board - or the other way around, can’t check, don’t have the board here. It shows less in the land areas since abit more yellow in brownish colors won’t show that much.

      Also it shows so hard because there happens to be a LOT of ocean there. :)

      Doesn’t really bother me, though.

    • RE: Music

      For the musically curious here, i’ll give a short introduction to my rather obscure musical tastes. Warning: i suck in describing :)

      Darkambient.
      It’s ambient. And it’s dark. Obviously. Think of it as soundtracks for imaginary creepy movies. Often long tracks (which i like) going over 10 minutes. Or 20 minutes, And some CD’s are one 70 minute track. Usually no beats or vocals.

    • RE: A brief after action report of a (temporarily suspended) game between Blitz and

      @Imperious:

      I wish ports could protect naval units like they do in real life and not become food for larger fleets where they have no say in the matter and can’t retreat.

      I like that idea, if such protection can be knocked out for the turn by strategic bombing an enemy NB before attacking the fleet there. That would give some purpose to the risky/low-payoff SBR’s on AB/NB.

      More general, i think NB/AB should be repaired at the end of the players turn, not at the beginning, but that is really another issue…

      you can put a black dot with a marker on the bottom of the UK/US pieces of either Pacific or Europe box

      (or if you’re really strict about it: every time a UK or US units change board, you replace them with the similar units that came with that game.

      @the:

      I would consider leaving it alive a bit longer to weaken the defence of italy. IE any troops in Africa mean less to defeat on the mainland of europe.

      Indeed, i feel the same way about that (but sinking that fleet can be so tempting as well)

    • RE: My Allied Plan

      @Zhukov44:

      A 2 trn buy is a common purchase J1.  And in this case, a Russian stack in Manchuria is potentially a serious blunder.  So in that sense it’s important to adapt to what is happening.

      If Japan builds FIC J1, USA Pacific offensive and/or an India IC are more tempting.  Granted, FIC is useful for Japan’s naval defense, but its also a potential liability in that its one more spot Japan will have to defend and the factory is quite useful to the Allies if captured.

      But FIC is only 2 spaces away from japan, so it is easy to keep the IC safe. And hard for the allies to try and capture it (usually this end in - at best - trasing Birma for a long time, and even if the alles can break through, it is very hard to hold FIC, even with an india IC (where max. 3 units can spawn), FIC only 2, but 2 units from Japan are easily transported there. And often there is still a large japanese airforce around.

      One more question: since this is a KIF, sooner or later you will have to deal with the italian fleet, would you leave that a job for the US or the UK? (or is that decided as the game goes along?)
