    • RE: Axis & Allies Experience level?

      Started playing with guys from work the summer before senior year (1987), got some other HS friends into it the last year and played very little in college.  Just started playing again this year.  I don’t have the atention span for PBF, but love playing on the triplea forum, so long as you don’t get some jerk who drops out without warning/reason.

    • RE: Japanese first turn

      @Romulus:

      I like the plan of becoming involved in Africa after about 4 turns, that are about the turn in wich Allied had completed freed it!

      I like the idea even more with a free S. Afrikan IC.

    • RE: Attacking the Med fleet

      I learned plenty of what not to do with UK on that turn.  Of course, circumstances are always different.

    • RE: Attacking the Med fleet

      Last night i had the opportunity to attack the German BB & tran in SZ 15 with the Indian fleet, Egypt fig and bomber on UK1 thinking i could get to them in a couple of rounds.  I instead chose to pester Japan by invading Borneo and East Indies, hit the tran and sub.  Results, lost DD taking out tran, lost the sub, took the islands, lost all but 2 figs on the counter because japan didn’t need to hit the DD and sub, if those survived would have been able to maintain the carrier.

      Needless to say, i never got another good opportunity to hit the Med fleet until the end of the game which drew out a game that would have been done in 6 rounds to about 9.  Had i taken the med fleet on UK one, probably could have done so only loosing the tranny, leaving a loaded carrier and DD safe in the med wichi could hook up with other support on UK 2 and had unfettered control of Afrika by T3, allowing full shuck into Karelia from there on out.

    • Triplea - Online

      Wondering if there is anyone who would like to schedule to play a game on TripleA, either tonight starting at about 10 Eastern or tomorrow morning?

    • RE: Triple A Glitches

      RJ

      I downloaded the current stable version of TripleA about 3 weeks ago.  i don’t see any edit features.  Is that only on the version you are testing or is it also on the unstable version listed on the triplea website?

      Thanks

      Never heard of your version of it :|

      I probably shouldn’t have read these boards after smoking crack.  :evil:

    • RE: Low Luck Dice

      Apparently I did not know what LL was.  I thought I had read that with LL, if you attacked with 6 inf, 6 Arm., you roll 12 dice.  If you got 3 - 1’s, 3 - 2’s, 2-3’s & 4-4’s, you would count the 1’s as hits by the Inf’s, 2’s & 3’s as hits by the Tanks - 8 hits total, where those roles could have resulted in as few as 3 hits total.

      Did I dream this up myself, or am I confusing terms?

    • Low Luck Dice

      I played a game on TripleA last night - After my opponenet conceded after the annilation of Germany, he suggested that I should have used the LL feature (I had hosted the game).  I understand the concept of LL, but in practice, how does it effect the game?  What type of battles seem to favor the attacker/defender more?  My assuption would be that this would be particularly good for Germany holding out as its capital defense would be stacked with 2’s 3’s and 4’s, insufficient numbers of each to get extra hits.  In smaller battles, 1 Fig, 1 inf v 1 inf, that advantage would be with the attacker as he gets 2d6 @3, essentially, while Defender odds unchanged.

      This thread appears dead, but I am also looking for live players in the Brighton - Metro Detroit area.

    • ABattlemap - Help

      I downloaded ABattlemap.  How can a move through the map?  I am looking at the screen showing basically about 50% of the map from the upper left-hand corner.  I can’t move the cursor into japan, pacific, australia.  Any ideas?

      Gracias.

    • RE: Combat Sims

      From my other post it is clear that I hadn’t played A&A in a long time, but got a game in last night - first since Dec '98.  I used the estimater on triplea to check a battle for my opponent and a couple myself.  I actually though about how cool it would be to have the simulator as a hand-held.  Too bad the market isn’t big enough.

    • Fair Bid for Novices/Sleepers

      I haven’t played in quite a while, never played AAR.  I have had AA2d & W@W and haven’t played for 10 years.  Bought AAR for a game this week with a new friend with some experience with AA2d and some of the variants I believe, in addition to other strategy games. Axis is about the only one I have ever played.

      I am looking for some suggestions for what is a fair bid amount, that we can set and then flip a quarter to see who plays which side first. We can then do a second game on the same terms, and bid on the rubber match if there is one.  I read some of the GIP threads, and it doesn’t seem like the $8 makes much difference.

      Also, I downloaded tripleaaa last night, so i will try in the near future to figure out how to do PBF game.

    • RE: Rules Questions

      @Jennifer:

      Though, that would be an interesting HOUSE RULE.  You can only load OR unload a transport in a turn.  Would stop a lot of the transport fodder issues and make it more viable to transport allied troops.

      Wasn’t this the rule in earlier versions (80’s).  I always thought that troops had to load in NCM, but everyone played as though you could load/unload same turn.
