    • RE: Your Japan Strategy

      Thank you, everyone. I always send some Armor into USSR and the mainland to support the units already there, but since I’ve never played a game against another person with me playing Axis (I’ve only done it against either AI or myself), it’s more difficult to get a feel for it, you know?

      And MADDOGG… Please, just leave me alone. I am generally a nice and respectful guy, unless you do something to annoy me, as you did. The second response was fine, but just forgive and forget, alright?

    • Your Japan Strategy

      I was curious on what other people typically did for Japan. Do others primarily focus on preventing America from aiding Russia and Britain, or is your primary concern invading Asia and helping Germany finish off the USSR? In my games, Japan tends to be the weak link, and I want to know your strategies for dealing the most damage with it.

    • RE: US 1 Purchases

      In my opinion, you need to take the initiative in the west first. Attack, attack, attack with UK and US, and defend, defend, defend with Russia. The pressure from Japan is more or less irrelevent, as long as you defend well in Russia, unless either you’re playing too poorly or the Axis player is too good.

      MADDOGG is exactly right. By splitting up UK’s forces, you’re giving Germany more time to build up, and more of a chance to hurt Russia. The Soviet Union can last just fine with a few friendly fighters in Karelia and Russia, and Germany pressured into defending, rather than attacking.

      I Am The Walrus was on Magical Mystery Tour, I think.

      I only just discovered Maxwell’s Silver Hammer recently, actually; a friend of mine mentioned it, and I had to listen to it (I have all of the Beatles albums, but I typically only listen to a song or two at a time, not the whole thing).

      2)  As Russia attack his baltic fleet with your 2 ftrs.

      This will kill the transport and make a G1 landing impossible.

      I disagree with using both fighters. From my experience, one should be more than enough, unless you’re extremely unlucky. It’s only about a one in five chance that you won’t win the combat, and the second fighter could be better served putting pressure on Germany in the opening move.

      The only problem with ALWAYS buy an IC for india on turn 1 is this. If I’m japan, I will devote many resources to making that a jap IC. And while you’re laughing as you purchase the last 2 IC’s, I will be snickering at the fact that uk is blowing all that money and producing no pressure on ger, and very little on japan!!

      Agreed. I’ve only played three games against human opponents, but in the games I’ve played, India ICs aren’t terribly useful. It’s best to take out Germany as quickly as possible, and then prepare for an Eastern assault. In all of the Allies games I’ve played, except for the first two, Russia’s been able to hold up to a Japanese assault before Germany was taken (with assistance from Britain and America, of course), and that lowers the importance of the Eastern front (don’t just give up without a fight, though!).

      Just remember: After Germany’s gone, you have all the time in the world to build an IC out East.

      As Ronald Reagan use to say “well there you go again”. Here’s a verse from an old Beatles tune that I love. See if you can guess the title……“back in school again, Maxwell plays the fool again, teacher get’s annoyed”.

      Maxwell’s Silver Hammer. One of my favorites (although under “I Am The Walrus,” of course), in fact. I can assure you, though, that I’m not at all homicidal, or even an angry person. I tend to be laid back, unless someone takes the initiative and angers me.

      I’m not trying to be offensive, and I’m not trying to argue. That was not a “shot” at MADDOGG, despite what you may take it to be.

      Solo,
      An observation:  Don’t try to be Billy Bada$$, when you’ve never won a game.

      At this point, I have won a game, actually. ;-)

      I was only saying that because of the fact that MADDOGG says he has never won a game, and he has most likely played many more than I have. Most likely, I am a better player.

      Solo,

      My advice to you is:  stop playing that opponent.

      If they are THAT unforgiving, even when helping someone new learn, then you are dealing with an A-hole of major degree.

      Nah, he’s not really that bad a guy. He only did that because he knew that I was going to beat him unless he enforced the turn sequence rules.

      Besides, it’s a lot more convenient for me, since he’s the one that owns the board, and he lives with me.

      God, I’m surprised you haven’t been banned yet. You bring nothing to this forum, from what I’ve seen of your other posts, and just flame people.

      I was distracted, and playing against an unforgiving player that wouldn’t let me rectify my error once I began to move a piece. This was all played past midnight; I’d like to see you even try to touch me when I’m at top game.

    • I feel sad because of this game. ;_;

      So far, I’ve played this game twice, both times as Allies, and I’ve lost both times. I’m playing against a much more experienced player, so the advantage I get as the Allies is more or less negated. I haven’t thought of a good Russia strategy (I haven’t really looked online much for the game, and  I’m not nearly experienced enough), so Russia was taken both times.

      The first game, Germany was dominating. It had control of all of the former Russia territory and Africa, while Japan had taken out the two American China territories. The only territories that the Allies had gained from the Axis were Malaysia and Indochina. This was because of my mistaken strategy: rushing with Infantry and Infantry only would be good, since you can make so many so fast. If we hadn’t been doing no economic victory, he would’ve won a while before.

      Anyway, I had been hoping to get America and Britain to take out Japan, so I could liberate Germany’s Russian territories easier. I was getting pretty close; victory was a possibility, despite my previous whomping. I had focused all of America’s resources West so I could take out Japan as fast as possible (each turn without taking Japan out improved Germany’s position). Finally, at 6:30 in the morning, after nine hours of the game, my opponent said “Alright, you’re getting to be a threat again. Time to finish this.” He then used a Transport to ship a single Infantry from Spain to Eastern US. I hadn’t realized he could do that in one turn, so his second turn was conquered, and he won.

      Second game, I was doing pretty decent. Britain controlled all of Africa, and America was getting more and more of Asia each turn. America had about eight or nine Super Bombers, and a few transports with Infantry at Midway Island, ready to be shipped over to Japan and take it over on America’s next turn. After that, I would’ve placed an American factory in the Eastern Europe area, and pump out Super Bombers each turn to wear down Germany, while Britain built up tanks and infantry in Western or Southern Europe. The game was as good as mine at that point.

      Except one thing. On each of Britain’s turns, I forgot to buy stuff. Why I would forget something so obvious and important so many times, I don’t know. All it had to defend it were two infantry and a tank (from original placement). My opponent transported four tanks over, and won the game.

      Britain had over 150 IPCs to spend at the end. I could’ve purchased so much with that, and dominated so much, but I lost because I’m so stupid.

      All that time wasted on those games because I’m an idiot and overlook the obvious. ;_;
