      i only play with those rules. They are great.

      Nice mate.

      What are you finding the CP need for a bid?

      Are you playing with the time limit?

      Hey Team,

      Is anyone playing 1914 with the tournament rules either live, PBEM, forum etc?

      Is anyone hoping to play 1914 at Origins or Gen Con?

      Hey mate,

      What tourny are you playing in/played in?

      Would be interested in your session report/summary of how it went for you.

      Thanks

      @DoManMacgee I reckon you post this on BGG as well mate. Might as well cover as many places as possible to keep Revised at WBC alive.

      Hey Guys,

      I am looking for any results from either Origins and/or Gen Con for 1914, specifically Bid Amounts, How many turns a game lasted, victors and bid placements.

      Any information anyone could provide would be awesome.

      Thanks Heaps

    • RE: Bidding with OOB Rules

      Thanks mate.

      I think the set up from the FAQ was what I was thinking of. After posting I also found Saburo Sakai’s recommendation of using the OOB set up, 24 VPs for Japanese Victory and giving the Allies an extra 12-16 IPCs to spend on turn one.

      My group hasn’t had many plays of this version and to keep it in rotation keeping it as balanced as possible is a priority.

    • Bidding with OOB Rules

      Hey Guys,

      When playing competitively and using the OOB set up, what bid/bid range do people believe the Allies need to balance this game?

      Alternatively was there a set up variant which balanced the game where no bid was used?

      Thanks heaps, hoping to brush the dust off this version as it is one of my favourites.

    • RE: Read & try this to balance this game :-)

      @SS:

      @Slip:

      Maybe go 2 infantry if you are going to do it by amount of units not cost of units. We tried a bid of 9 (3 inf were placed) and the axis got steam rolled each time.

      So your saying with fortune cards not in game Allies win 40% of the time without 2 inf but 60% with the 2 inf bid?

      Negative. I am saying a bid of 6 where the allies placed 2 inf resulted in balanced matches whereas a bid of 9 where the Allies placed 3 infantry lead to strong allied victories.

      Obviously, skill, dice and players use of the tactics cards all contribute to the end game result however if you are using a bid for the first time I am just making the suggestion that a bid of 6-7 is a good starting point. That way your group can play a few games and work out if you need more or less.

      Using the Smorey Swamp tournaments rules (linked below) we have found the game evens out if the Allies get a bid of 6-7. We are still trying different amounts but maybe you could try a bid as opposed to changing any rules.

    • RE: Face-to-Face tournament rules

      Hey guys,

      Did anyone play in the Tournament at Gen Con last year?

      Keen for feedback on the tournament rules?

      How many rounds on average a game lasted?

      What was the average bid and who did the bid go to?

      Looking at purchasing this version but doing my home work first so any information will be quite helpful as my play group is time poor and games with set time limits work in nicely.

      Thanks heaps!

    • RE: Can the UK prevent Pearl Harbor?

      @DouchemanMacgee:

      Necrobump I know.

      Don’t know if you’re still out there TripleA, but I’ve been practicing with your strategy and have found that it works pretty well as a bait for a J1 Pearl Harbor.

      The extra casualties Japan suffers due to the second FTR (the one that flies in from SZ35 to help with the Solomon Islands Sub) renders them vulnerable (pretty good odds, depending on how the dice went on J1) to a counterattack from the USA (with the BB+TT from W. US, the FTR from W. US, the FTR from Hawaii, and the BMB from E. US.).

      Thanks for the great strategy! I’ll definitely be giving it a try at the next tournament or face-to-face game I play in.

      Are you finding this is working under WBC rules?

      What is a common J1 response to this strategy, combat, NCM and purchases?

      What have you found are the impacts of Germany running free in Africa?

      P.s. All questions relate to WBC rules :)
