Sounds good in theory seeing it will show a lot, like even a quick video on a turn run through once u have a concept. I think simple is best. I like the idea of axis and allies in space if it isn’t anymore complex. Others may feel differently.

Personally having too many unit choices would turn me off unless when playing you can clearly see why you would purchase one over the other. IE you would chose unit ABC to protect a base as XYZ is for attacking a base.

@dsumner said in Sci-fi themed A&A like games?:
Just out of curiosity, would any of you guys be interested in a a sci-fi themed game similar in play to A&A? I’ve got some really rough ideas for two separate games. One would be smaller scale and focus on ship to ship combat, and the other would be a larger game with “planetary systems” replacing land zones.
Sounds cool.

Hey Mate,What version do you like to play?
I have previously played Revised on Triple A using the WBC Tournament rules.

RE: Game Lengthposted in Axis & Allies 1914
You def need to give the tournament rules a run. Play for 6 full rounds and then check it who the economic and winner is. If Entente still win, try the CP +12 and play some more.
@DoManMacgee and I can give u idea for bid placement depending on starting strat and where CP are failing you.

@nishav said in Game Length:
My group plays standard OOB rules (no Russian Revolution) and we have yet to have a game go past 10-12 turns, most of our battles fall in 3 categories (several 2-3 unit per side battles, mostly 10-14 unit per side battles, rarely 40-50 units per side) so we’ve never had any of these 100-200 unit mega battles I’ve read about, and Central Powers have a win ratio of 1:8. Typically our air superiority battles are 2:2 or 2:1. Is this more typical and I’m just reading outliers in the forums or are our games unusually small scale?
P.S. tournament rules have been refused by the group because they “unfairly advantage the Central Powers”
Well I was going to suggest tournament rules.
Really can’t see how the tournament rules advantages the central powers unless the Entente are bad players. Also interesting they are refusing to play due to an imbalance when OOB the CP have no chance at all.
@DoManMacgee and I did some testing and if the Entente are decent players the CP still need a bid of at least 12 to balance the game with tournament rules.
Maybe try tournament rules again and have your best players use the entente and have no bid.

Is it possible to save the game state on TTS and send a link or something between players?
Thinking about this option for non-tripleA versions.

Hi! I just got the Axis And Allies D-day game at an amazing 35 US dollars, and I just finished my first game and started by second one with the advanced rules. Any ideas for strategy for both sides? Thank you!
Not strategy but I would recommend NOT using the fortune cards.

Ah ok, that’s a shame. Thanks for the help!
I wish it was on here there also, I have played games across email once and it was hard work. Had the board set up on the pool table, would have to send images and territory stats. Was well worth it just took commitment.

@slip-capone Then this is to be in the smorey swamp section, they are his rules alone
They were used at both Gen Con and Origins.
I am just happy they are on the boards to share.

Thats this? This is from Larry Harris?
I believe this is the end product of the ‘possible 1914 tournament rules’ that is a sticky. I took these screen shots from the Smorey Swamp tournament rules.

RE: 1914 Gen Con Rulesposted in Axis & Allies 1914
For those interested my play group plays for 6 full rounds instead of the time limit to allow for flexibility.
Below is a helpful quick reference for the tournament movement rules:
Land units leaving a friendly territory, may:
Move 2 into another friendly territory
Move 2 into a contested territory.
Move 1 into a hostile territory.
Move 1 into a neutral territory when moving into that neutral territory for the first time.
Land Units leaving a contested territory, may:
Move 1 into another contested territory which has units belonging to your power.
Move 1 into a friendly territory.Land Units must end their movement when:
Entering a contested territory.
Entering a hostile territory.
Entering a friendly minor aligned power’s territory for the first time.Naval units can:
Move into a hostile sea zone and NOT conduct combat.
Move out of a hostile sea zone.
Move 3 sea zones (Cruisers can move 4) if they begin their turn in a sea zone that has a friendly Naval base.
Naval units must:
Stop in a hostile sea zone.
Stop when entering a sea zone mined by the enemy. -

You could also have it as a smaller african campaign like they did with D day. 2-3 different campaigns in the one box would be good OR have it more of Africa with it set up like Europe or Pacific.

What kind of map you had in mind? Only Libya/Tunesia/Egypt?
Or the broader Med aereaMainly where you said in North Africa, nothing Naval. I guess where all the desert Fox action took place.

@thrasher1 I would like an African Campaign with maybe 2-3 different set up AND OR alternate history ie Germany and Japan won WW2.
