    • Territory Re-Capture (UK - Italy - UK - Germany or Italy?)

I suspect this has been covered but I could not find.

      Scenario:

      1. Italy captures Egypt from the UK and collects IPC/$ each turn
      2. UK re-captures Egypt from Italy reverting it to UK original control
      3. Germany captures Egypt from the UK

Does Egypt revert back to Italian control since they were the first/“original” to capture it or does Germany now control it and collect the IPC/$?

      Thank you,
      SJ

    • RE: Should we make better rules for invadable neutrals? (1940)

I combine these neutral rules with the CDG 1939 v3 setup (which is really great btw).

My questions are in regards to the Islamic alliance.

      1)  What is the house rule for the fortification mentioned in the Turkey setup?
      2)  The rule states Islamic Alliance is worth 5 IPCs (2 Turkey, 2 Saudi Arable, 1 Bosporus) but that is Allies only.  Axis would get 7 if Saudi Arabia NO is included?

      Thank you…

No worries, that is how we played.  Axis lost.  Still cannot compete with 52 non-war and 72+ was $ for USA.

      Good set-up…Thanks!

Basic question here.  Are UK/France and Germany at war at the beginning?  Poland has not been invaded yet.

    • RE: Global War 36 Seperate Board. Wahoo.

Don’t want to be a broken record but wish HBG would open source the map so others could work on it too.  Lots of good ideas out there and some people with great Photoshop skills (i.e Sireblood/etc.).  HBG could still print them or perhaps offer one-time use licensing if one wants to print elsewhere (hard to get and control a copyright though, I understand).  Allows people to print different sizes too and on different materials.

      My 2 cents.

    • RE: Future Expansions

Expansions are always cool but some additional focus on the base unites would be nice.  Would be good to see some new sculps to replace the tokens/chips (i.e. heavy artillery, advanced subs, etc.).

$200 to ship…darn.  You can probably find a printer where you are or do a road trip to the Bay Area!

      Hi,

So we use trucks to count for 3 inf (instead of chips) so that is why you see the trucks in China and elsewhere.  There are some smaller 75 Veld artillery in China too for the art.

I have a few more units to add, mostly neutrals.  If you see any other errors let me know.  I will scan through the set-up again.

Oh yeah…the big BB sitting in Canada is what we use for fleet markers. That is for America (ordered from http://www.panzerschiffe.com/index.html).  It isn’t in play or part of the set-up, just a holding place for it.

    • RE: Beginning to paint our set - and some questions

      Just a few suggestions:

      • I use Model Masters Super Fine Grey primer (gets expensive - about $7 or $8 a can and waste a lot)
      • I usually wash the sculps first with dish soap (I think I saw in Dtroy’s vid).  Not sure if it helps but makes sense and I will try anything if it helps keep the paint on the Japanese infantry
      • I now mark my spray paint cans clearly with P for Primer, etc.  I once intended to spray some newly painted German inf with clear coat but picked up the wrong can and sprayed them with primer…ugh.
      • Don’t use airbrush but would like to learn
      • If you can spray paints planes, sure speeds up the process
      • As mentioned above a lit magnifying glass greatly helps
      • Good brushes help too (less stray hairs, more control, etc.)
      • Buy good scuplts - hard plastic
      • Decals are not too bad, just takes practice.  Sometimes I dab them with clear coat of a jar when dry before spray clear coat.  Sometimes the spay clear folds them or destroys the decal.  Combat Miniatures has a nice selection of decals.  GHQ has a few too.  Always eBay as well.
      • As Sireblood says in his videos, choose a theme and try to stick to it.  One basic color/theme for each faction.
      • Vallejo paints good, model masters also good.  Sometimes I use enamel.  I use Model Masters Blue Angels Enamel for corsairs.
      • You might try Tap Plastics for bases.  They sell 1/2" clear discs.  I think one could cut off the cheap/small/square bases off the non-HBG and non_A&A scupls (Revel, Airfix, Hat, etc.) and super glue them to the Tap Plastic discs.  Or just glue them with their own base.

      Cheers…SJ

    • RE: Printing a map

Not sure where you live but I use AlphaGraphics in Sunnyvale, CA.  They have printed two boards for me 1942 v2 and 1940 on cold rolled steel.  It is probably double what vinyl costs.  I am sure they can/will print on just about material you want, however.

They do good work and had to learn how to print on steel so they had to print it a few times…they didn’t charge me for that.  They even sourced the steel.  The owner is Alejandro.  Best thing, the whole crew was into the printing.  The had me bring sculps to see how they looked on the board and wanted to know how it is played.  The front desk person’s (Suzan Pearson csr462@alphagraphics.com) was going to boot camp she wanted some pictures.  I think the owner’s son is in the Navy or Air Force.

Anyway, they are one potential source and I am sure they would ship and be happy to work with you.

Let me know if any questions…SJ

Unlike Global 1940 where India/FEC move and fight together, in HBG 1936 the two are totally separate, correct?

    • RE: Global/Europe/Pacific 1939 for 1940 2nd Editon

      Thanks for the clarification.

      A few more Qs:

      1. Persia, Vyorg and  few other spaces are printed either Pro-Allies or Russian.  In the 1939, however, they are Pro-Axis.  You mention that the 1940 map sets the $ collection.  So if Russia occupies Persia, Vyborg, etc, even though they are listed as Pro-Axis, Russia does not get the 3 IPC bonus for occupying Pro-Axis spaces (in war time) because they are printed on the board as Pro-Allies?

      2)  Under Vichy “expansion”, French Guinea goes Vichy?

Thanks…Oh Yeah…will have to put on the neutrals …waiting for HBG order or will use Axis/Allies/Unpainted units until then. :-D.  Also need a French BB, a German AA, few other minor things.

Makes sense Charles DG.  General HG uses armored cars as artillery scouts.  Could do something similar.

The Jeep.  Not sure what rules could be applied.  Perhaps could be motorized or type of scout, artillery spotter.  It is just so iconic, strange it is missing.

    • RE: HBG Markers Magnetized, troops with Washers…what think?

Here is what I did with magnets (some videos).  Had my board printed on steel.  Has worked well.  I think I will might do flags instead of the chips/tokens.  I kinda went overboard but once I began…well…

It makes playing easier, no chips to deal with.

    • RE: Air Base & Naval Bases (HBG, Shapeways?)

      Nice!

Some kind one piece combo of Airbase & Naval (and maybe even some IPC combo) might work well too.  It would make setup easier and hopefully reduce the footprint.  There a good number of Airbase/Navalbase (IPC) locations.  In Global 1936/39 too.

Hi….yes, because this setup puts a few Russian ships in 100 so just checking the strait is still closed in this 1939 v3 setup.

Vichy rules might also be fun/good.
