    • How to incent Chinese Civil War battles in 2-play?

Have tried multiple approaches to incent an actual civil war and battles with 2-players. The best solution so far is to let the Japanese control the CCP until: 1) Either side is defeated and the civil war ends or, 2) The Japanese declare war on the CCP or KMT. If the Japanese declare war on either the CCP or KMT then control of the CCP reverts back to Russia.

It worked for a while until now the KMT will attack the Warlords to 1) die 2) turn control over to CCP. KMT buys nothing but just hoards $IPPS and waits for the Japanese to attack. Then build mountain troops, etc.

The CCP wants to deplete as many troops as possible and leave as many spaces open for the Japanese, but not at the expense of 1) becoming a major power (13 IPP) or defeating the KMT entirely.

Perhaps some random “bot” type of attacks. Roll a die and have to attack a region, in a direction or something.

Any suggestions, ideas or has anyone overcome this in a 2-player game?

    • Bloodbath Rules Victory Conditions (convert to GW36?)

Just wondering if anyone has adapted the BBR victory condition to GW1936 successfully? We are going to try since the 2-player version of GW36 just doesn’t seem to be working quite right.

The cities should map pretty well. The resources (Netherlands PAC Islands, Iraq, Iran, Caucaus, etc.) should map okay. The Atlanitic Wall pretty close. Africa for the Italians, China, etc should be convertible. The IPP levels are similar (can GW36 levels)

      Add Madrid as a VP.

We are thinking, start in 1936 still but the 12 VP by Turn 8 might convert to 1943, 13 VP by Turn 9 = 1944, etc.

@noneshallpass Or both. Some more printed Player Aides or Playbook would greatly enhance understanding. Videos are a great compliment to written examples and rule clarifications.

    • RE: Are Heavy Carriers not very good?

@insanehoshi Many of the techs appear to be too little too late. We generally focus on Economic, Fighter, Bomber and Artillery. Subs too late for Germany, ships in general too late to the game. Fighters are probably best bang for buck, IMHO.

@manincellv More charts in general would help with many rule searches, questions, etc.

@trig Doesn’t Abyssinia become Free French when France falls, regardless of Abyssinian victory or not?

    • Forts/Bases - Declare location when beginning construction?

Does one have to declare where the fort will be placed at the beginning of construction? Same question for bases.

@noneshallpass All excellent points and provide a new perspective on what has been an overlooked unit in our games. Thanks!

@captainnapalm Okay, so bypasses the factory requirement to build regular infantry. One could also just build 1 Colonial if in build chart for same as Militia + Upgrade

    • RE: Militia Purchases?

@captainnapalm Why not just purchase regular infantry outright and bypass the upgrade process?

    • Militia Purchases?

Does anyone purchase or see much purchasing of Militia? Trying to scale how many I need to paint. Just paint what goes on the board at set-up or more for additional purchasing.

    • MAP - Can all types of aircraft fly MAP?

Can all types of aircraft fly MAP, even strategic bombers? If yes, then Strategic Bombers could spot but not attack.

@hbg-gw-enthusiast 3rd. Should specify which sea zones to teleport to, if that was the case.

    • RE: GW1936 v3 2-Player Rules?

@caesar-seriona Actually, it works well. Japan gets CCP until the Chinese Civil War ends or they declare war on China. Creates a real war. The CCP is trying to kill as many troops on either side. The Nationalists are trying to preserve as many. We play the long-game but I understand why Japan may leave China alone (same in G40).

    • RE: Commonwealth militia upgrade limits

@ol-degenerate We have played allowing the UK, FEC and ANZAC to all upgrade one militia to Regular Infantry.

We also do not limit specialist infantry for the entire CW, so UK could build 2 Airborne, but so could FEC and ANZAC. Sounds like that is incorrect. However, each National Reference Sheet says 2 per turn.

The National Reference Sheets also state “CW share the same turn war status, technology marker, per-turn limits on technology development, per turn lend-lease limits as well as strategic rail and strategic naval limits.” The sheets do not mention build limits on specialist infantry nor on militia upgrades.
