    • RE: My 3rd playtest Turns 1-8 review

      Turn 4 Review:

The CP’s are at the gates of Moscow but a revolution will occur before I will be able to take the city. That means they will have to capture Rome and Paris. At this rate, I don’t believe they will capture Paris. Rome will be taken in 2 turns by Austria. However, Germany is very thin on the Western front and USA has 12 troops in route to Belgium. I don’t see the Germans holding off USA, UK, and France. On the other hand, the ottomans have 26 IPCS and are kicking the crap out of the Russians and Indian troops. UK has been forced to build navy and has all but abandoned building troops for India. Bombay will be taken in 2 turns. I wish this counted as a victory city. Because the CP’s would be well on their way to victory. I don’t know if I should attempt to build an ottoman navy to try and take some IPCS from Africa. This would really slow down the UK and might allow me to get the upper hand on the Western Front. It is all up in the air at the moment, and we will have to see how the US troops fair against  the battle hardened German troopers.

      Turn 5 Review:

The Germans are all pushed back to their borders (with the exception of Switzerland). They still have 44 IPCS, but they are now fighting USA, UK, and France in the Western front. Austria is still stuck in Tuscany with little chance for that to change (super slow supply lines from Vienna on land). The Ottomans seem to be the only Cp’s doing any work (due to the fact that UK can’t afford to supply India).  I feel the game will be over for with an allied win in 3-4 turns. Even with the factory in Munich, and the extra cruiser for Austria , the supply lines were still too slow for Germany and Austria. The only thing that will make sense is some sort of rail system. I mean, come on I had France begging for mercy (they were crying in their homes). However, troops ran low and I had to halt my offensive. Now the Americans have come to save the day. It seems to be a trend. Right as the Germans are getting ready to crush the French; the Americans jump in and thwart it all. It is also near to impossible to invade UK. If the UK wanted, they could spend all their money on navy and still not allow Paris to fall. Supply lines are too slow and it pisses me off. The central powers have no chance of winning. Making Russia revolt is very easy for the Central powers. Other than that, everything is all uphill for the allies.

      Turn 1 Review

Well the factory in Munich really adds an intimidation factor for France. I found myself holding most of my units on defence, where I went on the attack without the Munich factory. The added cruiser to the Austrian navy really helps them hold their own in the Mediterranean. I feel who ever attacks first will get lots of casualties. Russia is faring well against the CP because most of Austria went towards Italy. I would give the edge to the CP’s after turn 1. No need to go into much detail about turn 1. Most of you guys know all the opening moves by now.

      Turn 2 Review

Germany is winning in the Western front and Italy is being pushed into Tuscany (both northern TT taken). Ottomans are winning in the Middle-east. Germany is about even in the Battle for Africa. With the sinking of the Austrian navy, I feel that will put a little more pressure on Austria’s southern TT’s. It will also be harder to keep supplies coming in for the Assault on Rome. I feel the Axis needs to capture Rome and be close to Paris before USA enters the war. Russia is holding its own against the CP’s but it will fall in 2 turns. Turn 3 Review

The Germans are at the Gates of Paris but are running low on troops. I don’t feel I will be able to capture it before US A comes to war. I was also at the gates of Rome but they destroyed the Austrian army in Tuscany. It will take me 2-3 turns to get within range of Rome. The Ottomans are kicking serious but right now are have a solid 26 IPCS. They are 3 turns from taking India and then they will be able to go cash in on some needed African IPC’s. The Russians are still holding ground, but since Poland fell, Moscow will soon be in ruins. I will try to avoid a Revolution so I can capture Moscow for the Victory city. Allies have been beaten thus far, but I don’t know if they can keep the steam against the USA troops arriving turn 5. They will be able to land a solid 12 troops into northern Europe or the Balkans. I feel they would be better used to protect Rome and to play with Ottomans. We will see how the next German turn goes before I make an rash decisions on USA placement.

    • RE: How often are the Central Powers winning?

Flashman is right. I am currently at the gates of Paris. Have troops in Picardy, and burgundy. However the bulk of my men are in Munich and Ruhr. It will be 2 turns until I get them there. Meanwhile the USA is going to land a solid 12 troops into Picardy, Belgium or Piedmont.

It was announced on the FAQ that USA can’t load transports until turn 4. So why would you even want to take your Warships out of port?

    • RE: Possible Rules Change

To be honest I never had any problem with that rule.
To be clear let me see what you mean by leap frog.

Scenario:  Ukraine is contested by 12 Austrian infantry and 3 art. They are fighting against 10 russian inf. On Austrias turn, instead of fighting the battle decides to push all of its units into British controlled Tarastan. Is this allowed?

    • RE: Got 1914\. Battle Report?

I don’t think attacking with the German navy is the best idea. It is better to buy 1 sub on both turn 1-2 and make the navy defend the home port. That way the UK can’t land units in Holland and Kiel.

My first game I attacked with the Germany fleet and I ended up losing it soon after. Having the mines really intimidates the Allies into not attacking the German fleet.

Uncrustable I will use all of your suggestions. I am also doing a battle report for this game so we will all know how the new rules feel.

Will post the first turn later today.

    • What should I do? 1914

I’m about to start a solo game. But I need the help of community.
I will be using many house rules to see balance issues.

What house rules should I implement?

I was thinking of putting a Production center in Munich that will allow up to 4 units built per turn.

I was also wanting to do the Ascaris thing, but Flashman can you give me more info it?

What other things should be changed. Should I change any of the starting naval setups?

Willing to try a few things to make the game more fun

So was your game lost in transit?
Don’t you have a tracking number to see where it is. Next time use FedEx when buying something this time sensitive

    • RE: Ended game after round 8

Well Austria took Serbia and Romania turn 1.

Took Ukraine turn 2, then Moscow turn 3. It was very great dice rolls.
I don’t see that happeneing in many games. And most of Russian troops were in Poland.

    • Ended game after round 8

Well we had our first play of 1914 last night. It lasted 5 hours and we got in 8 rounds.

      End result:

Central Powers Captured Moscow (Non RR rules).

Allies captured Constan with US help.

Western Front was still wide open and we could tell it would still be 3-4 rounds til the end. I do think the allies may have been winning. Austria and Germany were mainly playing defence against the hordes of British, French, and US troops. Italy was even beating up on Austria as well.

We played with tanks being built on turn 3. This really seemed to help them get the tanks into battle quickly, but the US was able to get them into battle T5, as Germany had to wait until turn 7.

Flashman may be right about having some sort of rails or supply line. Their movement was too slow.

Ie I captured Moscow on turn 3 and my Germany and Austrian units didn’t get back to western front until turn 7.

Their movement is way too slow, and the allies will ALWAYS control the oceans on this game.
The CP’s don’t have a massive sea power like Japan to keep the USA busy.

Would anyone be against giving Ausria 1 Cextra crusier upon start and giving germany a crusier and a sub in by Madagascar

    • RE: Tank in round 3

Well we played through round 5, and have built a total of 20 tanks. They have seen combat for USA, UK, Austria, and Germany.

So far The axis are ahead in Vicyory cities (took Moscow) but are slowly losing the western front.

I landed 4 troops into Albania on round 4 and it seems to be a good move, I then landed 4 more into Ottoman controlled Greece. ( had 2 tanks against Greece and got through the battle with 0 casualties). Will use the US troops and UK troops to double flank Constan and get a victory city.

Meanwhile France and uk are both over 32 ipcs and are pounding away against the Germany defense.

Austria is all but gone, lost most of its troops trying to kill Russia, and Italy had been a bug problem for them as well.

I feel it is an allied wok thus far, but I will cont to finish it out.

I didn’t use USPS, I upgraded to FedEx ground. The postal service are usually very slow. I suspect you will get it on Monday.

On another note. My game from CSI came in at 11 pm today, I live in Oklahoma.

Well all the games posted on the forums have ended in 6-7 turns. I think I will add tanks in round 3 for my first game.

Got my game this morning and got it all set up for a play tonight with 3 other friends.

    • Tank in round 3

Ok everyone, I was thinking of moving the construction of tanks to turn 3.
Seems like they don’t get much action starting on turn 4.

Could anyone tell me the pros and cons to this?

Would it throw off the balance?
