    • RE: John Brown's Painted Axis and Allies Pieces

My man! Gotta give props to all those variants, that takes time! They look great, I have yet to do any German, looking at your variants, I don’t know what scheme to use for mine lol.

I know what you mean about shaky hands, this is hard to do in our old age, my hands hurt from holding the micro brushes, I wrapped one in duct tape, so its WAY fatter, helps, but there is still pain there. I also know what you mean about seeing the board with the painted units, it is different. I was not even planning on painting the units, I just wanted an easier way to tell destroyers from cruisers… just the painted decks alone, was enough for me to know, it was paint time :)

      Keep the pics coming!

    • RE: MAPS - real or fake?

Thanks for the feedback guys, I hope by this weekend ill have some pics of the progress. Ill set up a few different border styles, all of which will be towards natural. I actually like the sea zones, so ill just keep that look… since ive also already recreated that look/layer anyway haha.

    • RE: These harbor pieces make great naval bases (see pic)

      @AlphaKappa:

I’ve been looking for a control tower for air bases.  Good luck with your molds!  Hope that comes out well.

Thanks! Ill be sure to post them, as well as offer them if anyone would be interested. I moved here (CA) from WA awhile back, I knew where to get all that casting stuff, ive looked here, cant seem to find anywhere locally… ordering online is murder, shipping jugs of liquid… in addition, not sure what im getting. I may end up using fiberglass resin, something this small, should be fine… just takes long to cure and I gotta make a grip, unlike the casting resins, takes like 30 seconds.

    • RE: The long road of painting the units - Updated 1/16 Vid added

Thanks! I was somewhat surprised as to the lack of effort that went into the French pieces. Ive began going through the remaining countries, was a little disappointed with British units, for one, they are wearing shorts lol. If this was Africa Edition, id get it…. sooo I ended up ordering new stuff, for one, infantry… ill still paint some of the infantry issued shorts. Orderd some tanks, I don’t like the quality of the mechanized, but I didn’t find anything I like better on HBG, so ill make due.

Russian mech/tanks were replaced with higher detailed ones from HBG

German mech/tanks were replaced with higher detailed ones from HBG

I know I just finished USA, but I ordered nice shermans, way better then stock… so, gotta do more US.

Have yet to inspect Anzac or Italy.

For some reason, im not picky about aircraft and naval ship detail, I guess the scale is so small, getting more detailed ones is border lined pointless… uness the ones from HBG are bigger… but then, don’t want bigger, sometimes a bomber and a dude is all you can fit on a space… but that is about to change for Europe, I finished my base map layer yesterday with the larger Europe/smaller Africa.

    • Lot for sale 450+ units + lots 'o chips

These pieces are from my 2 1999 Europe games, and stuff from 1940 SE.

This includes the 450+ units, and all the gray chips from 1940 SE, and all the gray/red chips form the 1999 game. No factories are in here, so don’t bother starring into the pic, like wheres waldo.

Some of these units are primed, some are primed/base coated.

There are no Japan/Anzac/Italy/China units…… very few France.

German tanks have 2 variant’s, the ones from 1940 se and 1999.

Any questions, feel free to ask, but the pic should suffice.

Send me a PM if interested. 40 bucks/includes shipping (within the 48 states). Or 25 bucks for 1/2 of it (no picking, ill put half into a box, whatever I grab, is what I grab… I just happen to have 2 boxes that 50/50 fills both to the top).

    • MAPS - real or fake?

Curious, what you prefer in a map “look” … real, or fake?

Me, real… not painting all these units to roll on a red Russia and a Blue France :) . Also, what are your ideas for borders? Color glow per territory, like it is now, or something more universal like the sea zones?

I come from a gaming background, texturing thousands of 3d models, and creating/texturing 3d terrains, however, ive never had to do a terrain with borders to represent spaces, not sure what I plan to do.

      Any feedback is welcomed, thanks.

Thanks for the file, makes redesigning a map way easier, especially for the sea zones.
