      Whoo-hooo, ANZAC arrived AND I won the Japan bid, 17 bids later and its mine!  :D … All I need now is to find Italy, which I have a bid on another one (lost the first one).

      @Wolfshanze:

      Maybe you could get/find a small cloth US Flag and fold/cut it into ribbon size, so you could either get the stripes and or the blue star field to show?

      well, I have a pin on the way, lets hope it pans out. Still waiting for my over seas shipments to continue this project. ANZAC was the first one I ordered, damn, still not here :(

    • RE: Tip for Cleaning Paint off A & A Game Pieces

      When I painted my units, I had issues with Britain, I originally made 2 schemes, then decided I only wanted the tan, not green… On my painting, I used a combo of lacquer Enamel and acrylic, it was at the enamel stage, but I soaked them in paint thinner (in all preparation to consider them toast and order new units)… but they came clean, they soaked for 10 min or so, and I used my tooth brush (yes mine lol, bristle’s turned green, and yes, I still use it, the green faded away HAHA) to scrub away the paint film.

      Thanks for all the great feedback! Ill be finishing up Europe today (its done, just not the sea zones/ territory names). Also, about Africa, the Northern territories will be as large as I can make them without totally distorting Africa.

      I hope to have another pic up tonight, if not, tomorrow then.

      Again, thanks for the feedback, lets get this thing right the first time! Don’t want to pay 200 bucks for a print, to go “F*CK!, should have done that!” lol.

      Here is a quick progress pic, Africa is good to go. Sea zone lines have been adjusted to meet up where they are supposed to, with no changes to the original game play.

      The interior lines may be more adjusted later, I just need some guidelines, once those are 100% I can place the names/ roundels/ IPCs.

      I left the layer of the original size, so you can see the diff. In addition, the same font/size/spacing/Font FX were replicated.

      Thanks for the more feedback! Gibraltar has been made a tad bigger. Im having trouble with the sea zones, its time consuming (more then I thought) to keep them all in check, but Africa is done (with a tad more sea one at the bottom, and all its sea zones have been properly redone. Im currently in the Med.

      Ill look into SZ80, Idk where that is without cheating and taking a peak lol

      Thanks for all the links, I had no idea the USSR names were bunked up, ill have to do research prior to any name changes…. I will though for sure, thanks.

      @Mallery29:

      I will be up there for around Christmas for family, but not sure if spending an additional day up there for gaming.

      Don’t want to waste your holiday time, hit me up when you have free time, maybe there is an in-between spot we can meet.

      Thanks for the comment rasater, great idea! In addition to increasing the water in those areas, I’ve also already increased the water between Europe and Britain. If work goes ok today, as I plan to be home by noonish, I’ll get a first look pic up today, otherwise it’ll be tomorrow.

      Thanks again for the great ideas! These ideas are not just for me, it’s for everyone as when done the map will be made available.

    • Sired's Map project - Updated- 4/16 - files available see first post

      Project is complete, see bottom pic.

      Video on map:
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mabYTEqvzKc

      Map file is print ready for 32x70 size shown in the vid.
      File is 250dpi, plenty enough to blow it up, you can zoom in to 300x and still looks flawless.

      Map file is 20.00 (US)

      For you 20 bucks, youll get 2 versions of the map, my version with changes, and OOB version. Files are in .tiff and .psd.

      See video for more details

      original post:

      Units are painted, Battle Boxes on hold till I get parts, custom pieces on hold till Jan,… so its map time finally.

      Overall I really like the map, but unfortunately some things bother me enough, so I might as well redo it with my own art. I have almost 20 years in digital art and have made many terrain’s for 3d games so this should be a breeze.

      First things I need to change are some of the sizes, Britain and Europe in the yellow outline will be enlarged, while Africa will be reduced in size. Areas in red I just want different roundels to match my painted units, example Italy uses the Fascist roundel.

      New epic water, new painted terrians, adding mountain ranges, deserts, etc.

      What I don’t want–

      • No border changes
      • No IPC value changes
      • No adding country roundels that are not a playable country, while I see many who have done this, and yes it looks epic, but I just want to see whos playing. *Main reason- every so often we take 5, and count our countries to verify income (youd be surprised how many times the dude on chart duty fked up), I just want to see roundels of playable countries.
      • No charts/graphs, just a clean map. *Reason- I have a custom Portable Game table, which has crap built in (income tracker, turn tracker, turn sequence, and R&D, in addition, every country has its own set of cards which shows, combined arms, unit profiles, etc.
      • Don’t want Facility icons, I like my air/naval base pieces.

      So aside from those, im open for other ideas/changes. Hopefully this is done in the next couple weeks, as I got other things (customizations) to attend to :P

      Ill update this post with progress pics along the way, so far all I have is the map in its proper layers to make them adjustable, I have finished Britian though (not painted yet, just resized) which ill post a pic as soon as all the resizing is done.

      PRPJECT COMPLETED :)

    • RE: Railways for G-40

      One of the interesting things I’m finding out with the railways is I’m constantly thinking " I should’ve put them here instead". That’s what I was hoping for though, a way to change them every game instead of having them the same every time.

      That’s the best part about this, im pretty sure ill be taking this mod as I truly think it could speed up attacks and get the ball rolling in some slow areas…. one difference though, ill be making/casting train units to act as the transports.

      Good work, I love how players can customize their railways. All around great idea, thanks for sharing.

    • RE: Railways for G-40

      I like the railway for the most part, not a fan of the hospital (im not a fan of anything to prolong the game, same with the spy, more rolling, more waiting for players to decide/do things). Railways I believe could speed up the game, which I am a fan of. Though I would make several changes, but your rules work for you, and that’s whats important.

      I tried 3 times to paint a proper star, and im so OCD, that my stars were not acceptable lol, SO, I went with solid blue.

      United States, France, and Soviet Union are done! I have British, ANZAC (still waiting shipment from Australia), and China medals bought and should be here soon. I had a bid on Italy, but was outbid lol. Japan is still looking grim, I do have a bid out, but I feel it will fail.

      I did a few edits to my setup chart layout, added the turn sequence for both 1940 and 42, and figured out what I wanted to do to cover the ribbon tab (see Germany, was old way).

      France requiring less space, got the honor of housing all the facilities :)

      Last is a pic of all 9 cases, China houses mostly game components, chips, dice, money etc, will provide pic when lid is done. Now while im awaiting medals, ill be designing the leather travel case for these. BUT not today, today im working on my map, which I hope to start a topic on soon.

      Thanks everyone for the feedback, ill keep updating this thread as the lids are completed!

      @Wolfshanze:

      Ty, I love my vinly maps… got em stored in map tubes when not in use… I love using these maps over the game boards, it adds so much more to the gaming experience (plus extra room for units, since I do my best never to “chit” units).

      What was the cost of the vinyl? I still use the boards for now, i have some mods to do before im ready for a print.

      Also, I hate chits too, unless its aircraft, as they move as a squadron ( i love the look of 20 bombers stacked up with singles muhaha) , land units, who knows where they are going/splitting up, I hate unchipping.

    • RE: My new project "National Battle Boxes" -updated 1/7

      @Wolfshanze:

      Random thought… painting the wood boxes the color of the nation’s default units in-game?  Black box for Germany, Tan box for UK, Green box for US, Orange box for Japan, Maroon box for USSR?  Just a thought.

      When I started the project (not this, but my game table/board thing) I went though color choices, the 2 I liked best were this, and green… just imagine a dark green, distressed and aged.

      The deciding factor was the game board colors next to the paint color. So the boxed followed in theme, as I want the wood work to have the same theme.

      I wasn’t interested for me to have them all different colors, but if I was contracted to do so, im sure it would be epic.

      As for the medals, I went though designing options for the lids, my alt was painting the entire lid, example, imagine the rising sun for Japan running across the entire lid, which I like. But the idea of having medals and using its ribbon as the pull tab won for me.

      I still think painted lids would be pretty damn cool too!

      Unfortunately I had a busy week, and failed to post/do much I planned :( Oh well there is the weekend, well Sunday, I have a game Sat, im Japan :P
