      Just about to wrap up the map water/Sea zones/Convoy, etc …. I noticed on my 1999 Europe map, it has ocean names on the map, im toying with the idea, what do you guys think?

      Anyway, I may have a pic up tonight of the progress, if not, tomorrow for sure. I have my scheduled cleared for the next 8hrs, so its map time, along with some rum and redbull :)

      @IWillNeverGrowUp:

      Looking great. Can’t wait to see the physical product.
      I guess we should discuss pricing at some point too.  :-D

      Ill know my cost soon, I have few scenarios going atm.

      1. Injection mold - (which is being a hassle, as my 3ds Max (a 5k program) wont save in STEP, but will open them lol. Which means I need a new program, AUTO CAD (same company who makes 3ds MAX!)…. why I need STEP? Well, I decided I want this to be painless for me, so I need that format to get an aluminum mold done made for the injection molding. (highest startup cost, no my production time)

      2. I 3d print the masters, then make silicone molds, and pour, which would be a huge hassle, but doable. (cheapest for startup, Huge production time for me to do)

      3. There is a print shop near me that specializes in 3d printing, need to get a quote from them for say 400 pieces at a time (100 each) (print cost is high,  0 my time)

      I prefer to go 1, spend the cash for the injection molding, ya it will be up there for me in cost, Unfortunately I need the files from Auto CAD to get the quote, so im going to get the quote from the print shop tomorrow, start there. I already know I can do option 2, just trying to find a better solution for myself.

      If they end up being injection molded, the detail will go through the roof!.. casted, unfortunately they need to be smooth as much as possible to keep the molds from breaking down.

      I also met a guy last weekend while I was playing Axis and Allies at a game store, apparently hes made a few minis and had them tooled for injection, ill be talking to him again next weekend about his sources.

      The land mass in that pic don’t show the country lines, as it was a water pic of the convoy (which is way batter now, same design method though)

      My goal, in less I fk it up, keep the gameplay 100% in tact (which I thank  for helping me do so) im not trying to change values or lines, if I do, its on accident and needs to be fixed.

      Thanks again for keeping me in check, ill post an updated pic prior to the weekend. I still have lots of crap im trying to do, one of which is the vid for the painted units flyover… time just slips away :( I need 50hr day cycles!

      @R:

      Graphics look awesome

      Thanks bro! I went through several styles before arriving here. These are designed to fit into the piece boxes that come with the game in case I release the files, but there are so many cards already available from other members, I don’t want to step on toes offering yet another one lol, and I would have used ones already available, but I can never pass up an opportunity to do art, in addition, I wanted more cards for this/that.  :)

      Ill continue to update this topic as I make them, finished the submarine and bombing card layout his morning :)

      A couple more, Japan and China are done, I also added the star to US. My UK one arrived, but it was larger then described by a 1/4 inch, which made it too large, but I have another one on the way, and still waiting for Italy to arrive… I hate waiting :)

      With China not really needing a lot of space, most of the space goes to other items, cash, dice, etc. France holds all the facilities.

      @rasater:

      Looks great, Sired! Can’t wait to see the land zones painted!

      One thing I noticed is that some of the seazone borders don’t line up as they do in the OOB map. I found two in particular:

      Border between SZ97 and SZ99 connects with land in Albania rather than Greece, meaning that Greece is completely surrounded by SZ99 whereas in the OOB map it borders both SZ97 and SZ99.

      Border between SZ93 and SZ95 doesn’t line up with the border between Northern Italy and Southern France, meaning that Northern Italy has access to SZ93 and SZ95, which is different to the OOB map where it only has access to SZ95.

      You might have noticed this already, but I just wanted to make sure.  :-D

      I think this is going to be a great improvement to gameplay. Central Europe always gets so congested!  :-)

      Keep up the good work. Happy new year!

      awesome thanks, I was hoping if there were flaws they would be pointed out! Thanks again!

    • RE: Custom Facilities Project

      Here are the wips for the facilities, I didn’t want to 100% copy the complex from the older game, but I like it lol, so I just moved the stacks.

      Any suggestions, just let me know. These are basic and smooth as it will be better for the mold.

      If all goes well, within the next 2-3 weeks I should be able to ship out the first batch to James.

      Original Post:

      Now that my Battle Boxes are coming to an end, finally had time and something to base the theme off of. Being old looking boxes to match my old looking game table, wanted old looking cards lol, and not so generic. You can see in the pic, the old card, just generic in color/theme.

      Its a pretty huge deck, about 100 or so cards, never counted but that’s a good estimate (some are duplicates, example, every country has its own Combined Arms, Turn sequence, Research, subs, bombing raids, convoy, unit profiles, etc, etc.) on top of the national objective for Pacific, Europe, G40, and will have G42 if any are needed (haven’t looked).

      I know by now you guys must wonder, wtf, does this guy have a life? …. uh, nope… I don’t :P

      EDIT 1/13 -here is the vid, if interested in this deck post here or there.

      @Wolfshanze:

      If I was a New Zealander, I would be offended by the ANZAC box!   :wink:

      Ha! You have no idea how much I tried to get anything with ANZAC on it, I finally found 1 that would have worked for this project, but I missed it, was already sold :(

      Good news though, my China medal arrived yesterday, so ill have that lid wrapped up today :)

      @IWillNeverGrowUp:

      Those convoy markers look great. They fit in really well.

      Thanks! Ive actually modded them slightly, I replaced the ship silhouette with a transport, the same transport art used from HBG convoy marker (as I use those)

      Water painting went well yesterday, should have updated pic Friday

      Sorry for the delay, too many A&A crap going on :)

      I am pleased to announce Ive talked with James, IwillNeverGrowUp, and he will be providing his services to allow these pieces to be purchased from his site www.iwillnevergrowup.com.

      Along with these, there will be major/minor factories also available, as well as rail/train units. We hope for this to be going by Jan 31st.

      My current air/naval base are not perfect, but they worked for me. However, the ones available will be copied from masters out of a 3d printer ( I should have next week)

      I will be taking crits on the pieces prior to the final print and welcome change requests. Ill have the 3d renders (Facilities) up this week (probably Friday)

      Im pretty stoked, I love having pieces, im telling you, once you have pieces, youll never want to look/play at/with the cardboard again haha.

      This is what I came up with, I like the idea of the silhouette as its what it does for the standing army, which ill probably use (just make my own style). I left the one YG used on his map to show the size is still the same.

      Painting didn’t get too far, as I spent most of the time of trying different convoy ideas. The sea zone lines, I mimicked the original, as though its my map, I want it to have the look of the original.

      Thanks for al the feedback! All the above was taken care of (with the exception of the US lining up, I scratched that) The entire Europe map lines, layers are complete and I started painting the water, ive noticed im not too happy with the default convoy icons, so ive decided to toy with new ideas.

      I hope to have a pic up later today sometime.

      Oh, another question, I noticed when you put the US together, it don’t line up, say you want America to be stage center. Is this an issue for anyone? I don’t mind making it line up, if anyone would prefer America in the middle, this would make the sea zone numbers flow correctly. Me personally, I don’t know if I would like it better/less/same.

      Anyway just a thought as ill be getting the rest of the map ready for paint.

      Thanks for the replies!

      I don’t have the medals on hand yet for Japan/Italy, they are both on the way from over seas, so who knows when ill get them, ANZAC was the first I ordered, and I just got it.

      With that, here is ANZAC!

      Thanks for the replies!

      I agree Egypt should be larger, im going to shift all the upper Africa territory lines left. Never thought about making the marshes smaller, good call!… ill look more into other impassable areas as well now.

      As for Findland and such, I was going for larger sea zones, ive never had a game where those countries were over crowded. Could be just my games though, is it more active then I thought?

      The resize is complete, please look around at the boarders and point out any errors if you see any. Pay no attention to the roundels/name placements, ill zero them in when I paint the terrain. Ive matched the OOB font for zone names and water, still need to match the IPC value (why they are not on)

      Also, im going to setup the board tomorrow to make my vid of the painted units, at that time, ill address any more territory border adjustments.

      Thanks for looking and the feedback, the rest of the map needs little work, just a repaint now :)
