    • RE: Axis and Allies Europe 1940 2nd Edition ( AAE40.2) FAQ/question

okay but what does this mean

Attacking transports … If they cant retreat, they are treated the same as defending transports. Destroying defenseless transports in this way still counts as combat for the purpose

when would an attacking transport not be able to retreat?

    • RE: Axis and Allies Europe 1940 2nd Edition ( AAE40.2) FAQ/question

okay question about amphibious assaults and scrambling.

      europe map.

USA lands in Denmark and opens up the straight. Large navy accompaning US transports.

3 german planes in western germany did not scramble.

UK’s turn. Moves one transport loaded with land units from sea zone 110 has 3 movement.
transport moves into 112 and 113 wants to land in Germany when their are only anti aircraft in territory.
      Note 1 movement left.
      Western Germany scramble a plane.

I have always played that the transport is sunk.

      Amphibious Assault Sequence
      1. Sea combat
      2. Battleship and cruiser bombardment
      3. Land combat

Sea combat occured when the planes scrambled and made it a hostile zone.
Combat occurs. The defensless transport kicks in and the battle is over.

      Defenseless Transports
In a sea battle, if the defender has only transports remaining and the attacker still has units capable
of attacking, the defending transports are all destroyed, along with their cargo. You don’t have
to continue rolling dice until all the transports receive hits. This will speed up combats. This also occurs if the only combat units remaining can’t hit each other. For example, if the defender has only transports and submarines remaining, and the attacker has only air units remaining, the air units and submarines can’t hit each other, so the transports are defenseless. At this point, defenseless transports are all destroyed, along with
their cargo. Attacking transports are not usually considered defenseless, since they generally have the option of retreating. If they can’t retreat, they are treated the same as defending transports. Destroying defenseless transports in this way still counts as combat for the purpose

      So two questions?

      1. Is the transport destroyed by the scrambled airplane since their was no naval support for it?

      2. Can the transport retreat back to sea zone 112 before combat occurs?

I say yes it is destroyed and no it cannot retreat until one full round of general combat occurs.

      General Combat Sequence
      1. Place units along the battle strip
      2. Submarine surprise strike or submerge
      (sea battles only)
      3. Attacking units fire
      4. Defending units fire
      5. Remove defender’s casualties
      6. Press attack or retreat
      7. Conclude combat

    • RE: Rule Clarification - Weapon Dev. Rockets

Well like I said probably just review those rules and agree before the game the order it should be in.

you will probably know what you want to target anyway…good luck on your missions.

    • RE: Rule Clarification - Weapon Dev. Rockets

      Turn Sequence
      1. Purchase and Repair Units
      2. Combat Move (Powers at War Only)
      3. Conduct Combat (Powers at War Only)
      4. Noncombat Move
      5. Mobilize New Units
      6. Collect Income

Phase 3: Conduct Combat (Powers at War Only)
In this phase, you conduct combat against opposing units using the following sequence:
      Combat Sequence
      1. Strategic and tactical bombing raids
      2. Amphibious assaults
      3. General combat

      2. Rockets. Your air bases can now launch rockets. During the Strategic and Tactical Bombing Raids step of your Conduct Combat phase each turn, each of your operative air bases can make a single rocket attack against an enemy industrial complex, air base, or naval base within 4 spaces of it. This attack does one die roll of damage to that facility. Rockets may not be fired over neutral territories.

No you do not need to announce rocket launch at the combat move phase.
It just happens when your ready to fire during the Strategic and tactical bombing raids.

General combat occurs with this rule:
Combat in each space takes place at the same time, but each affected territory or sea zone is resolved separately and completely before resolving combat in the next
contested space. The attacker decides the order of spaces in which each combat occurs.

I tend to follow this philosophy for the other combats as well.

For me I would do Strategic and tactical bombing raids first in the affected territory/territories.
Then decide if I want to fire rockets next. What if all targets are at max damage by your raids. You dont need to fire.
This is where the “each of your operative air bases can make a single rocket attack” may come into play.
So I would say after the Bombing raid/raids  have completed all the parts(air battle,AA,bombing run) you decide what to fire at with your rocket.

But if you have a rules lawyer in your gaming group probably just review these rules and agree before the game the order it should be in.

Thanks I have been fixing spacing and learning more about Powerpoint.
My next project will be making task forces for the Central and Allies powers.

Instead of doing just individual nations most likely I will just make a general Central or Allies task force.

    • In Triple A any way you can program the AI with unit purchases and combat moves

I notice the AI in Triple A make strange purchases or non moves that they should do in a normal game with a human player.

for example Russia AI buying navy and placing the units in the black sea.

or designing AI with certain playing strategies for the 1st for turns

This edit should fix the problem.

Just confirming it is a Major Industrial complex.

For some reason when we set up the game board we placed a minor.
And verified in Triple A they have a minor in both global and just pacific.

    • RE: Pointlessly Broken

Our group played the other night without the bonus if Japan declares war on the US.

If US doesnt block it falls hard.

If US does block Japan. Japan’s takeover attempt is usually beaten back and it has a broken economy and not making enough money to defend against UK,Anzanc, and the china takeover.

Now I admit we may not have the most dominant Japan moves but blocking usually slows down the USA crush that we have seen and allows the US to rally a defense for Western US.

Each playing group is different but if you are not prepared for a total Japan invasion on the US Japan can dominate.

      It should be 1-6+2.

I just downloaded the game this weekend. Thanks for all the hard work to get this up and running.
Now if I could just remember to drop my men off the transport when doing amphibious assault.
