Well, I knew they were different, I just had them backwards. :-P  Thanks.

As an aside, I think the rule now sucks, since it gives the fighters two extra movements during the round.  I would understand if it applied only to amphibious assaults, since they take place by the shore, but attacking in sea zones doesn’t make sense.  You may as well allow them to scramble to defend in adjacent land territories.

Can’t scramble the fighters if they already attacked that turn.

The CV does sound like a good move.

“Scrambled fighters and tactical bombers are defending, so refer to their defense values and abilities when resolving combat. They can’t participate in any other battles during that turn, including a battle on the island or territory from which they were scrambled.”

    • RE: Rule question - sub damage

Are you sure about the 4 hits tho? Seems strange… always tought the TT’s where dead once the screaning ships where gone.

The transports are only killed if you still have attacking units after killing the screaning ships.  Also, if you killed all the screaning ships, but didn’t have enough hits that round to take out the transports, then the transports may be able to retreat at the beginning of the next round before you can defend.

And if he retreats with the loaded TT’s, does that mean he can unload them in danmark/scotland? Or does he have to keep them full, in seazone 111/112?

They should be able to unload in the non-combat round.

      1:1

The only exception to 1:1 is, I believe, any number of planes attacking subs when one destroyer is present.  Otherwise, each of the mech/tank, inf/art, fgt/tac, and tank/tac bonuses are 1:1.

I disagree with Mega.  I think the focus is correctly on having a fairly well-balanced game within the general historical framework.

    • RE: German opening -taking Paris and planing to invade UK

I’ll be making a similar opening move in a game this weekend, except I’ll be leaving the UK BB and CV in SZ 111 intact and taking out the destroyer (hopefully) in SZ 109 and I’ll definitely take out the 2 CR’s in SZ 112.

The BB and CV cannot flee out of range of your planes and subs in round 1, so you can finish off anything you miss in the first round, and still have all your planes intact.  I’ll let you know how it goes.

this is what i mean: you are forced to buy things you, maybe, don´t want to buy.

Rock n Roll,  the strategy of stalling the US incursion into the Med with destroyers only works for those who want to avoid the capture of Rome, or by those who are forced to do so by a heavy-handed Fuhrer.  If you don’t want to by a few destroyers, fine.  Then, buy infantry and turtle up, because the US is coming into the Med.  That’s a valid strategy, too (turtling up, that is).

Italy’s turn is after the UK and before the US, so if the UK takes out a destroyer, you have to have one in reserve to move up on Italy’s turn.  You should actually always have 2 destroyers in reserve to block the entire Mediterranean after the US gets that first SZ in the Med.
