    • RE: Global 2nd edition Q+A ( AAG40.2)

      @Young:

I know it should never happen, but for clarification… if the Soviet Union attacks a Mongolian territory, will all other strict neutrals in Europe become pro Axis?

      From Mongolia Rule Sticky:

      a) Mongolia ONLY goes pro-Axis if Russia directly attacks Mongolia.  This would break neutrality around the world (all strict neutrals go pro-the other side).

      So, yes they would.

Yes, we used the deck in G42. The objectives are the same.

I’m in the second. Both of these are casual G40 games. We had already advanced in the G42 tournament the day before. There are 2 days of play in games.

    • RE: Bidding

We had a bid in each of the tournament games we played, 3 to allies in the first and 3 to axis in the second. Neither had much impact.

    • RE: Bidding

The G42 setup is balanced under tournament rules. However, if you play out the game instead of stopping at the end of 7 rounds then the setup is clearly in the allies favor. However, I believe it is more balanced than Global 1940. I’ve been playing G42 regularly since it was released and can attest to the above.

I agree with Tamvann, G42 endings are very gamey.

I hope to play your token version at some point Younggrasshopper.

Congrats guys! I heard it was a masterful use of Italy. Hope we get to play each other next time. Please be sure to check out our events on Nashville Axis & Allies Meetup. Maybe y’all can come down for a visit.

      It was great meeting y’all.

      YoungGrasshopper,

Thank you for putting these together. I ordered 4 sets for myself and a few friends. We took them to GenCon where they were a huge hit.

      Thanks again!

    • RE: Playing Global 1942 at GenCon

3 to 4 rounds of the tournament, single elimination, using the Global 1942 set up. Axis win by having 125 IPC’s worth of territories on the board at the end of 7 rounds. Officially there is a time limit of 8 hours, but that is due to the championship game being limited on Sunday, because the conference shuts down early.

Most agree on the front end to play the full 7 rounds.

I disagree. There are situations where it may make sense for UK to DOW Japan so they and ANZAC can pick up bonuses.

    • Playing Global 1942 at GenCon

I just wanted to take a quick roll call to see who is playing Global 1942 Setup at GenCon this week. Sounds like we are going to have a bigger group compared to past years.

Global players are hard to come by for face to face matches. Maybe we can coordinate another event post GenCon.

If you’re coming please respond and include where you’re traveling from.

Look forward to seeing y’all there.

      I’m traveling from Nashville, TN.

    • RE: Deterrent to Egypt mIC on UK1 -"Ram-rod" play

Marsh, what is to stop Japan from marching onto the Middle East and Africa after India falls?

If that happens, then a secure Med is no longer secure.

    • RE: Taranto Fail… What next in the Med?

Is your opponent new as well or seasoned?

Build the MIC in Egypt since you don’t have a choice and protect as best as possible. Consider placing 20 IPC’s in Egypt units on UK2 and a transport, infantry, and artillery in S. Africa. This way you’ll have sometching to take it back with if he barely takes it on turn 3.

Also, turtle up India and send your India fleet and your India fighters and tactical towards Egypt so they can be used in an assault to retake Egypt if necessary.

      Best of luck!

    • RE: Deterrent to Egypt mIC on UK1 -"Ram-rod" play

      MeinHerr,

The bid system is solidly in place at tournaments, on TripleA, and for friendly face to face games. Everyone is welcome to have house rules, we do with the Mongolian rule. But when discussing strategy, there are few seasoned players that wouldn’t drop a sub or destroyer in the med following a bid for the allies. It makes one of the largest pro allies impacts on the game. The allies are clearly disadvantaged in G40. Based on your rule I doubt many seasoned players would agree to take the allies without a very high bid for Russia.

I have to agree with Simon and Marsh regarding the exchange of German fighters for Egypt. The cost of those units just aren’t worth it.

I’d be happy to play test the theory on TripleA. I could be wrong. Maybe it is a crippling blow for the allies. If it is a crippling blow, then it goes back to my previous argument regarding the bid placement of a UK naval unit in the med.

Healthy debate is great for this game. Thank you for your contribution.

Not worth the loss of 10 IPC’s to take it, 1 infantry and 1 transport.

    • RE: Gencon 2016 - G42 Tourney Balance Bids and Ideas

Even if you don’t qualify on first day you can typically re-enter for the second day. Or you can ask others about a game. Greg does a great job. He’s been running the A&A tournaments at Origins and GenCon for years. If you really like Global, please check out our group in Nashville. We host a few long weekend events per year. We’ve had guys come in from all over.

      Tamvan,

My teammates and I are planning to play G42 as well. Have you played the tournament scenario yet? It is available on TripleA.
