It is weaker without you. But I am having trouble getting wins.

@martin said in [Global 1940] One rule to balance it?:
Interesting!
What about making Normandy-Bordeaux an Allied friendly neutral? The Allies could still produce there even after Paris is freed.
This has been implemented although I doubt it will be balanced just with this change: https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/topic/39268/global-1940-parisian-rebalance/1

Are Axis wins up to a ratio of 54:46 now?
That’s a 10% spread. Does this meant that people may stop giving a small bid to the Axis?
55:45 now.
@MrRoboto said in G40 Balance Mod - Feedback Thread:
The Guerilla fighters in China work similarly: While in 2nd edition, Axis players usually throw everything asap against India, in BM you’d be punished by spawning Chinese fighters, if you move too many of your troops to India.
I didn’t say this before but I disagree with this point. The guerilla fighters provide increased incentive to go after India ASAP - just avoid taking unnecessary Chinese territory and they don’t trouble you much if at all.
I’m also unsure about the reduction in the IPC value of the Burma Road from 6 to 3. China fights on for a while with only a few territories with the 6IPC NO.
I don’t know, I guess I’ve done a lot whining about BM and the guerilla fighters in particular. It doesn’t look like anything is changing anytime soon. I’m not the best player but not the worst either and why should the top players listen to me! I agree with many points and the point about Italy being more fun under BM is a great one. I just wish we didn’t have to make the sacrifices that I don’t like to get all that’s good in BM.
Some more thoughts on UK2: Assuming Yunnan has survived and the two UK inf were moved there and also survived but two inf from India have left on a transport, you can get 9 UK inf into Shan State. Not enough to hold it against the Japanese. But throw in 3AAA, art, a Mech Inf purchased on UK1, ANZAC inf + 3 ftrs, USSR 2Mec + 2Tank plus planes and 2 US planes (with J1 DOW) from Hawaii and you have a serious force that the Japanese can’t easily dislodge. You need to abandon Yunnan as the Chinese though. Take it back China3 probably.
Calculator: Japan 6inf + 3art + 11fighters + 8tb + 2sb vs 10 inf + 3Mec + 2Tank + 1art + 2TB + 6ftr + 3aaa = avg 11 lost Japanese planes.
Assuming a blocker in SZ37 stopping bombardment.
Japanese can defend FIC with their air force mostly assuming they took it J1 so you might not be able to take that down but you can at least tie down Japan and reinforce Malaya. And annoy by taking Shan State.
I guess this move works much better against a J2 DOW than a J1. Either way I still think an inactive UK Pac sucks. What does turtling achieve? Nothing really.

@simon33 no, i didnt think you would attack. But i had måde up my mind to use 3 if you went for this as in many games the tokens are not even used. I think it makes no sense to use 1 or 2. Japan can not afford to loose transports left and right!
Interesting.
lose BTW.
I guess the 6 unit attack made it hard to protect every TT.
One thing I have only recently noticed about BM3’s IJ/Okinawa objective, it allows a J2 purchase of an IC/NB/AB without any money saved J1. If you also have bought 3TT 1 marine J1, it’s difficult to stop the J3 Calcutta crush. This also means taking out China can be done faster with the 3 extra units you can build on Asia from having the IC a turn earlier. Doesn’t sound like much but these things do have an effect.
So perhaps there is a problem with the IJ objective. I guess the other argument is that perhaps you should be able to stop the J3 Calcutta crush then there’s no point to the AB/NB/IC purchase. I don’t find that particularly convincing though.
They only make it from a G3 DOW if Germany can be slowed down by a turn.
There’s an average of 7 hits round one if 6+ planes are included in the attack. Depending on the attack you’ve got to expect to lose 10 or so inf and a plane as Japan.
Normally, inf move south from Manchuria J1 so Amur is normally occupied J2 and onwards.

very very bad to loose norway (home town) and finland, but we will see what can be done
I think so but I don’t see what you could have done against such a determined allied play.
And can open for Germany in USSR. Don’t forget that. Italy is often under a tonne of pressure and does indeed need a bunch of infantry to survive.
What are the pros and cons of marching 6 guys west across the steppe instead of stacking 18 in Amur on R2?
Pro: may help defend Moscow.
Con: Eastern force is far easier to take down.

@simon33 Hello Simon, am seeing there are some players online who play quite often. I feel a bit like the home town poker player suddenly up against semi-pro’s on a Vegas trip.
Well, you’re seeing the beauty of the league ranking system a little after the fact then. I should really be an E player but I got on a bad streak. It may be more fun to play a tier 2 or 3 player next time.
@djensen No, I’m manually attaching the auto save. And cut and pasting the history. You had to wait for this answer because I don’t have 3 reputation points.
Wow. That’s true. Only the French islands of Madagascar and New Hebrides don’t have NOs I think. Oh and Greenland, Ceylon, Hainan and Formosa. Far out.
Interesting Pinch1. What did the UK do in this area before you tried the strategy? I put down a Persia factory UK2 and attack Iraq UK2, and just build ground units normally.
That gamble didn’t pay off.

Combat Hit Differential Summary :
I don’t get why this is such a great idea. If the allies are beating down Japan enough that they hold FIC & Kwangtung, then the guerilla fighters are unlikely to be a factor.
Guerilla fighters don’t slow down the Calcutta crush and in fact focus Japan on Calcutta.
But artillery have so much more attack power. Hit soak isn’t everything and attack power isn’t everything but the small compromise in hit works so much better.
Ok, looking at a recent game there was a G1 buy of 6inf 3art and the Moscow battle G6,
There were 52 inf/mechs, 8art 18arm 2ftr 5tac 9bomb
vs 68 inf/mech, 1arm 1tac 13ftr 2AAA
That was 91% with a +57TUV swing
Changing the 3art bought for 4inf makes it 88% with a +48TUV swing.
And if the G1 buy had been a more conventional 2inf 6art it would have been 92% +65TUV
So art are better.
