Quick Questionposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I think I asked this previously but was not sure what the response was
If Japan invades Hawaii on J1, there is only 1 transport in the Sea Zone 26. I understand that if USA decides to scramble one fighter or tactical bomber then this negates the bombardments. My quesiton is if USA does not decide to scramble a fighter or tactical bomber does the 1 US transport in Sea Zone 26 constitute a hostile Sea Zone and negates the Japan’s naval bombardment? Can Japan ignore the 1 US transport?

Kamikaze questionposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
When Japan does a kamikaze attack, do they designate the number of attacks (up to 6) all at once ie at the same time
or
can they designate one attack to one ship, roll that dice and if it doesn’t hit designate another kamikaze attack?

Submarine questionposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940

RE: The core problem: Building ICposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
My view on an IC build for Japan in Asia has changed a few times. I used to think Japan needs a major IC right on J2. Later I realized I don’t really pump out 10 units in the IC anyways so maybe a minor would be better option with my transports still moving some troops from Japan. So, my question is
1. In general, is it in Japan’s favor to a build an IC in Asia and why?
2. If Japan builds an IC in Asia, should it be a minor or a major and why? -
Two Questions…posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
1. Can China land his lone fighter on a new conquered territory?
2. A naval fleet can move through a sea zone occupied by only transports and submarines. Does the enemy submarine get to fire one shot at the naval fleet that’s moving through?

RE: Attacking carriers on offense(i know)posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
once the aircraft carrier takes a hit, it becomes damaged. during this damaged state, planes can no longer land on them.

Tactical Bomber Questionposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940

Global Game Setupposted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
What are the chances of the AAE40 realeasing with not just the Global 1940 setup but another setup for a later date like 1941 or 1942 like in AA50? That would be sweet

I thought only fighters from islands with airbases except Japan can scramble

RE: J1 Gambit- US Variationposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I believe I discussed the idea of invading Hawaii on J1 in detail previously. My analysis of this invasion was that Japan needs to use all three of its transports carrying 3 Infantry, 2 Artillery and not conduct a naval battle in sea zone 26 (don’t attack the transport) in order to use the shore bombardment from your 2 Battlehips and 1 Cruiser.
Japan attacks and rolls 2 x 4s, 1 x 3, 4 x 2s, and 1 x 1 hitting at 3.3. USA defends and rolls 1 x 4, 1 x 3, 2 x 2s, and 1 x 1 hitting at 2.0. In round 2 of Japan’s attack, Japan rolls 3 dices instead of 8 in the first round (2 casualties in round 1 of attack and no more shore bombardment).
On average rolls, Japan comes out victorious with 1 remaining artillery. Without the extra infantry from Caroline Islands, the battle would favor USA holding Hawaii.

RE: Re: Field Marshal Games Pieces Project Discussion threadposted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
Great News on adding the AA40 cardboard unit sculpts FMG. I’ll have to order at least 2 complete sets. Maybe 4.
So for clarity sake, will be France, China, and ANZAC be represented in the complete set or will we have to wait for a second release?
Also for clarity sake, the units listed below are the ones that made the final cut into the set correct?
*units are those which are not currently found in AA40 (most of which should have been)Naval Units:
Transport
Submarine
Destroyer
Cruiser
Carrier
Battleship
*Task Force Marker (Similar to AAP)Air Units:
Fighter
Bomber
Dive Bomber (TAC Bomber)
*Air TransportArmy Units:
*Infantry (Two Sculpts each)
*Armour (Two Sculpts each)
Artillery
Half Track
*Truck
*Commander UnitOther Units Bonus:
*Major Factory
*Minor Factory
*AA Gun
*Bunker Unit (fortification)
*Naval Base Unit-Marker
*Air Base Unit-Marker
*Army HQ Unit-MarkerFMG is this list correct?
wondering if this was confirmed by FMG?

RE: Why wait as Japan?posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
We finally played our first game last friday and I have to say I had my worst outing in any AA game. I played as UK and ANZAC. Japan did not attack in round 1 but consolidated their forces in China, Kwangi and FIC. Caroline Island was left with 1 infantry and no ships so a fleet with 1 battleship, 2 carriers, 1 crusier, 1 destroyer 1 sub and 2 transports were sent heading towards India with almost all of Japan’s planes.
My first mistake was not asking USA to move the destroyer to Malaya to stall the advancing Japan fleet. My second mistake was buying 1 aircraft carrier. Since Japan sent such a big fleet with so many planes south for KIF, there is no way UKs fleet will survive. In hindsight seeing this move i should have bought all land. On J3 India was taken over. My third mistake was not remembering UK’s +5 NO in round 1 for Malaya and Kwangtung
Thinking back, even if I did not commit these mistakes as UK, would this have made a difference with Japan sending such a big force (the amount of planes and hitting at 4s now with tactical bombers) down to India and USA starting with 34 IPC in two rounds of play since Japan attacked on J2? The boost in income to USA comes at the end of USA2 and real forces from this boost gets on the board on USA3 and to Hawaii on USA4. With Japan buying at least one carrier per turn and not spending any on airforce, Japan will still have a superior naval force into round 4 and beyond and by this time India will most likely have fallen.

RE: Chinaposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Does China purchase units at the beginning of the turn just like other powers or can they decide on their purchases at the end of their turn?
Reason I ask is I don’t see how Japan would let the Burma Road remain open for even one round.
