I agree that the rules about mobilising into a hostile SZ and landing an existing fighter on a newly mobilised carrier are not exactly intuitive, but the game is richer for them.

In classic you couldn’t do that and it allowed naval blockades of places like London which was not good for the game because you could only sink a navy with an existing navy or an air force. Never a newly mobilised navy.

So these house rules are geared for A&A 1914?

Sure, I’ll play again after A3 appears settled.  I was really surprised that were still setup changes made.

Yeah lets start another game soon with the current ruleset.  I believe the Axis will be better matched than before.

I saved money for Germany just to test out your response.  It makes Allied players paranoid when Germany or Japan saves money, and they tend to get very conservative quickly, building INF and whatnot for their capitals.  In this case I was about to Sealion UK and capture it in 2 rounds with 13 Air Units and 22 Land Units if you didn’t go total defense for UK.

Japan would have captured India again, and the Dutch East Indies.  Sure, USA is at sea zone 6, but Japan can make Minor ICs elsewhere and force you to invest heavily in land units and transports.  Japan was well situated for taking Sydney too in 2 rounds.  China was the problem but not too bad just yet.

USA was quickly facing the problem of a conquered UK, India, and Sydney…

Anyway, lets start a new game soon…you can be Axis or Allies, either way I’m not fussy.  Send me a PM when you’re ready to begin.

Sorry, I had a ball buster of a month at work, some games tend to stall after a while and you gotta adjust to slower pace sometimes online to really try new strats. Also when you play too many games it gets confusing, so I try to stick to 2 Axis and 2Allies games max. I’m chasing others to speed up in other games that have stalled, but we all have our lives…when they can resume I’d gladly continue.

Just a shame as I thought you had a great strategy, but took way too much risk in opening rounds, esp for high-stakes battle (you would have wiped out my Medit fleet with 2 or 3 planes left normally, but it’s a huge loss of your air force that can delay Normandy or whack the Russians, so not sure it’s worth it longer term). Even if it panned out it’s down to luck rather than strat, so you never know if you had it right. I’d have loved to try countering your strat. It’ll be a real race.

As you can see this is a gamble, but it CAN work.

If Russia is spending money on Airbases, subs, and losing aircraft that it is working.

As long as you are matching his Land army builds and pushing towards and objective also.
