      Yeah, having France in this game is kind of weird cause it’s just cannon fodder.

      ok i see your point,how much is a used annavisary edition worth? cos i cant see my self playing mine much

      It’s supply and demand.  If there is no demand then it would cost little to nothing to buy, but since there is very high demand it costs a lot.  Obviously something is only worth as much as your willing to pay for it.  You might only be willing to spend $100 for it but someone else might be willing to spend $600.

    • RE: German IC's

      Couldn’t Russia just attack that sub in the Black Sea with fighters?  I thought fighters get one attack before the sub can submerge.

      Depending on the dice, really Russia would be destroying 6 German IPC’s a turn.

      Europe and Pacific likely won’t be as rare as Anniversary.  Anniversary pretty much became a $500 to $1000 rare item in just a year where as Europe and Pacific will take maybe 20 to 30 years to get to that point.

      Still, always nice to have an unopened copy if you got the cash.

      I would hope that if you pre-ordered for delivery that you would get it before the weekend.  I’m in the same boat.

      Anyone know where I can buy a second copy in Pittsburgh? lol  :-D

      @MarkVIIIMarc:

      Thanks guys.

      There is tons going on in the game. If i recall in real life the Russians and Brits were tied up in the middle east. Cant remember Iraq or Iran though.

      Both.  The luftwaffe and Italians actually flew air support for Iraq and ecvacuated their government to Germany. Not sure if they did the same for Persia (Iran), but I don’t think they were able to due to the distance.

      I’m probably wrong but I thought the Persian government was pro-axis while the general public was pro allies.  British (and maybe Russian) troops marched into Persia to nulify the pro-axis government.  Iraq was on the flip side I thought, their government was pro-British while the public was pro-axis and Germany/Italy tried to stage a coup.

    • RE: Global Board compared to Anniversary Board

      @MarkVIIIMarc:

      Just print your own map for anniversary, glue the pages to thin particle board and bolt some plexiglass to the top. Avalon Hill was too dead set on making it collectable to print off a copy i could buy.

      Anniversary is a great game. Worth the trouble. Global kicks butt in its own right but Anniversary is quicker.

      Good idea.  Now that I’ll have Europe with Italian peices I could print Anniversary and play it that way.  Probably won’t do that until I get board of Global though, if that is possible.

    • RE: Any After Action Reports Yet?

      @Plasticdeathbydice:

      Plan on lots of time, nourishment, and caffiene……this is an all day affair kiddies…the first few rounds are a killer time wise…starts to speed up say, 8 rounds in?

      That’s for sure.  I know from playing all the Pacific Allies that usually I’m planning what each power is going to buy and general combat/non combat moves while the Japanese player is on his/her turn.

      I can only hope this will help speed things up for Global but I imagine it will take several rounds before I get used to the game.

    • RE: Global Board compared to Anniversary Board

      Ah okay, my mistake.  What is the size of the MB version?  I have the New AA1942 version (playing it now till Europe arrives) and it’s zones are identical to Revised but unlike revised it has that realistic terrain look.

      I don’t have the Anniversary version unfortunately; I hope they reprint in a few years.

    • RE: Global Board compared to Anniversary Board

      @calvinhobbesliker:

      @CWO:

      As I recall, the 1986 Milton Bradley A&A game came in a larger box and had a larger board than the size used in later A&A releases.

      It’ll be interesting to compare the Global, the Anniversary and the Spring 1942 boards, which use the same general map / art style in three different sizes (large, medium and small) and at three different levels of detail.  Since Anniversary came out first, I guess Spring 1942 can be considered a simplified and reduced-scale version of the Anniversary map, and Global an expanded version of the Anniversary map.

      Actually, 1942 is more of a revised Revised. The map and setup are almost the same

      Calvin, I think Marc is referring to the 1986 original 1942 map version.  I have a couple of those inherited from my father.  Been a while since I’ve looked at those but I do think it was bigger than the Revised and the new 1942 version.  I wonder if it was the same size as the Anniversary.

      **WOTC Press Statement

      August 24, 2010**

      _Due to difficulties with our factories in China, every Europe 1940 box has shipped with nothing but potatoes in it. We apologize in advance to those who receive their copies. If your copy has shipped with potatoes in it, Wizards of the Coast urges you to purchase another copy in the hopes of that one not having potatoes in it.

      If the second one does not have potatoes in it, we are again sorry. But now that you have two boxes filled with potatoes, you now have enough to make mashed potato salad. Therefore, WOTC thanks you for making potato salad._

      mmmm Chinese potato’s.  Yum.

      EDIT: Actually you know what would be funny:

      WOTC Press Release August 23rd 2010:

      Due to an error in distribution, it has been found that some Axis & Allies games have included twice as many peices.  If you have recieved the extra peices we ask that you return them to us via 1 night delivery in secure and protective packaging so the peices will not be damaged.  Thank you.

    • RE: Taking over unfriendly neutrals on G1?

      Rommel and UN Spacy are correct.

      The cool thing about unfriendly neutrals is that even the Allies can attack unfriendly neutrals like Iraq which seems strange to me.  Should give someone something to do no matter what.

    • RE: Where to Order From to Get it the 24th

      @FieldMarshalGames:

      @katfishkris:

      try your your local comic book store.  i have got the last two releases on the day they came out from mine.

      Shipping always takes time, it just the nature of the beast.  We are shipping the games as soon as they arrive (1-2 days before release date) so they arrive as soon as possible.  Im sure other stores are doing just the same.

      Support your local game store if you can to get it on D-Day.

      I pre-ordered from Field Marshall Games a few weeks ago.  I think the only option was standard shipping.  Should I expect to get the game on Wed or Thur I guess then?

      Thanks

    • RE: HEAVY BOMBERS NERFED TO WORTHLESSNESS???

      I wonder if with the increased US IPC income that they had to nerf Super Bombers.  Imagine if the US is collecting 84 IPC’s.  They could go for Super Bombers one turn and by 7 bombers on the next turn.

      If it were the standard 2 dice then that is 14 dice to do damage against the Axis.

      @allweneedislove:

      @Slow:

      But tanks can BLITZ……tanks rule

      in the game everyone trades dead zones between berlin and moscow so there is always one or two infantry on the border territories making blitzing impossible. moving two spaces is very important, but a mechanized infantry can move two spaces to the front lines just like a tank can.

      Mech Infantry require a tank to move with in order to move two spaces.
