Sure! It’s specified on the Rulebook, “Canals”, page 7: “A canal is not considered a space, so it doesn’t
block land movement: Land units can move freely between
Trans-Jordan and Egypt.”
My eng is bad too, I’m italian… ^_^

Hi all, here’s my question: if the US player develop an air technology such as “Jet Fighters” or “Long Range Aircrafts”, will this technology influence the Chinese Fighter??? :?
I think I will use Marshall cards from Revised.
Pact of Steel is simply a variant of Revised, with Italy as the 3rd Axis Power. Rules are same as Revised, there is some minor change in the map (ie: Balkans, Sicily, Greece, Jugoslavia…) and in the initial set-up, rest are the same. I thin it is the BEST variant introduced with TripleA.
@Imperious:
Middle East: Middle East Support
Place a new IC in Iran. This IC cannot be bombed by “Strategic Raids”. Allies can place new purchased units here, but only a maximum of 2 units per turn. IE: USSR place an infantry, UK place a tank, USA cannot place anything, because the limit of max 2 units per turn is reached.
The value of these units cannot overcome the IPC value of entire Middle East, as calculated at the start of the Allies turn. IE: if Germany conquer Egypt (1 IPC), then a maximum of 7 IPC can be spent by any Allied to purchase units for the Iranian IC (the value of entire M.E. is 8 IPC). USA cannot place any unit in Iran when she’s neutral.I suppose this is lend lease in a way, but also representing UK’s colonial support.
Exactly, you’re right! ;-)
And, about an optional base for the German sub’s, I was thinking about the France, but still I don’t know… Your idea of the Norway is good…
Hi all. Here are latest home rules I tested with my friend. :-D
I mean these rules are just an “update” of the Operations Manual, not properly new “heavy” rules. A sort of “1.1 version” of Axis & Allies Europe.
USSR: The Great Patriotic War
USSR receives 4 extra infantry units per turn. These units must be placed one-per-IC, so one infantry each in Archangel, Leningrad, Moscow and Stalingrad. If one ore more of these territories are captured by Germany, even if it is liberated then the extra-infantry of this IC (and ONLY this) must be placed in another IC.
Germany: U-Boots bases
Germany receives 2 extra submarine units per turn. These units must be placed one-per-IC, so one sub each from the IC’s in Germany and Northern Italy. If Northern Italy is captured, then the italian extra-sub must be placed in Germany IC, even if Italy is liberated.
USA: USA neutrality
At the start of the game, USA are not in war against Germany, but she’s allied with UK and USSR… These are the consequences:

Actually, in our playtest games, these rules work good. What do you think about it? I’m waiting for your comments…
I find it intersting it’s still for 2 to 5 players even though Italy is a new Axis nation.
Perhaps that’s just a typo on the web page
Yeah, and I found another typo… The title text said “Spring 1942…”, but on the picture the box said “Spring 1941…”. I hope these are the unique mistakes of this version! ;)
During World War 2, the operation “Sea Lion” was the name of the original Germany’s plan about the amphib invasion of United Kingdom. Learn more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Sealion
I’m searching for rules not too far by the “usual” rules of AA Europe. So I prefer that attack and defence values for all units should rest the same for all Powers in game. Nothing 3/3 tanks, nothing Revised Rules, nothing special “SS” units, just a simple free “boost” to balance the game.
Hi all!
Here I’m presenting to you the FIRST Italian web Forum entirely dedicated to our favourite game: Axis & Allies Italia Forum
Everyone’s invited. Thank you for the attention.
I’m sad to announce that Mario Rigoni Stern is dead, tonight. He was 86-years old and he was ill since long time.
He was a great writer. He wrote “Il Sergente nella neve” (“The sergeant in the snow”), the most popular book about the tragic italian retreat from Ukraine, during WW2. He was a gunner sergeant of the Alpini Expeditionary Corp. You can learn more by clicking on the links on my signature, or by searching in the web.
Goodbye, old sergeant.
Hi all.
Yesterday I played my last game with Europe, since long time I don’t.
We tried a small and very simple “home rule” to make A&A:Europe more balanced. This is the rule: in every turn, Germany will receive 2 submarines for free and USSR will receive 4 infantry for free, UK and USA get nothing. During the “Place new units” phase of the turn, this free units can be placed in territories with an IC on it or in their adjacent Sea Zones, of course.
This way, Germany can resist longer to Allies sea-offensive, and USSR too can resist more turns, even against the German tank-rush. The game last more time and seems more balanced, I will continue to test this rule.
What do you think about it?
My two cents…
I think that conquering Africa IS NOT a secondary objective for the Germany. Since a good Soviet player can defend easily his/her home territories, retarding german attacks since other Allies are strong enough to invade Germany, I think that the primary objective for the Axis is to weak the economic power of the Allies. To do this, consider that all Africa is 8 IPC per turn: +8 IPC for Germany and -8 for UK, so the difference is 16 IPCs, not few… If Japan conquer India and Australia too (UK cannot re-conquer Australia), this difference is another +5/-5, so complexively is 26 IPC, or something more or less depending US and Russian moves and luck. If Germany plays defensive tactics to contain russians and Japan force his attacks against China, India and Soviet Far East, USSR can be taken between two fronts.
Here’s my two cents for Italian NA’s.
Unexpected Tactics: Despite bad politics, leaders and equipments, Italian Army sometimes was surprising their enemies by their fighting will, so they caused unexpected casualties to their attackers. In any combat involving defending Italian Infantries, ONE Italian Infantry can defend on a 4 (or less) for the entire combat. This NA can be used ONLY ONCE between two Italian game turns… For example, Italy ends her first turn, and then some Italian troops are attacked by UK: ONE Infantry can defend on a 4 (or less) for this combat, but if others Italian troops are under attack before the second Italian turn they cannot use this NA.
SLC commandoes: The most important success of Italian forces during WW2 was the sinking of UK Battleships “Queen Elizabeth” and “Valiant”, made by Italian frog-men in the port of Alexandria, Egypt. ONCE per turn, Italy can make a free single attack against an enemy naval unit in the Mediterranean. This attack has a value of 2 (or less). If this attack is a success, then the Italian player choose wich enemy unit is hit. This is a link to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_torpedo
Greetings from Italia… ;-)
I think it can penalize Axis, because the conquering of new territories is the only way for the Axis to cover the economical gap to the Allies.
I prefer to play as Japan, but Japan is part of the Axis, so this is the reason because I prefer to play with Axis.
When the new “Anniversary Edition” will be released, there will be Italia… And I think I will prefer to play as Italia, even if she will be weak or difficult and even if I hate fascism and fascists… Because this is a military game, not a political game, and I continue to prefer Axis, all the way. And when I will play as Italia, I will buy (at least) one Aircraft Carrier, because I LOVE them and I need them. I don’t buy them only if I play with USSR…
Today, here in Italy, it’s the “Liberation Day”. It’s the anniversary of the general partisan insurreption against German invaders and the end of the Liberation War (here called “Resistenza”, resistance), 25th April 1945.

Today, here in Italy, political discussions and polemics caused by the memory of this civil war are not exhausted.
Excuse for my bad english, I think I made some error but I don’t know exactly…
When I play Germany, I can win very easily by making massive tank attacks, as you tell, in G5. Infantry, infantry, then TANKS and TANKS and TANKS…
When I play Allies, with UK and US i send to Russia at least ONE fighter per turn (one with US and one with UK) every turn, plus the two bombers they got at the begin. With Russia I’m not passive, but I make “soft” attacks. I send ALL I can against a Geman territory, I conduct one or two rounds of fire and so, when I’ve destroyed almost all his infantry, I retreat and then I reinforce the territory where I’m retired during non-combat phase. Usually, this tactic can slow Germany well.
But, in effect, when I’m Allied my friend (that’s my opponent…) doesn’t love to make massive tanks attacks, he tells it isn’t funny… So he buys a lot of infantry and subs too and he plays defensive! Funny, maybe, but not a winning style of playing…
From Revised and Pacific only, I changed my vote to Revised, Pacific, Europe, BoB and Guadalcanal.
