    • Free Large Axis & Allies maps in SF bay area.

      I have a large ( 29-3/4" x 43-1/4" Including sleeve) print of Axis & Allies 1942 as well as a 34" x 40-1/2" print on 1/4" thick plastic (Polystyrene?) of the Axis & Allies Europe 1940 map.

These are free for anyone who can come pick them up in the San Rafael/San Fransisco Bay area.

      @SuperbattleshipYamato

The Axis & Allies Europe 1940 map isn’t. The Axis & Allies 1942 map can be rolled up if I take it out of the sleeve, but the sleeve itself is too stiff to roll.

If you’re shipping these, I think it’s just not cost-effective. It would be simpler and about the same price to find a print shop near you and have it made there.

    • RE: Find Opponents Here!

I’m looking to to get a PBEM or PBF game going. I’ve never done this before, but I have triple-A installed and I think I understand the instructions. I’m most familiar with AA1940 but am willing to play other versions.

    • Anyone use the HBG Grey German peices?

I’m considering replacing the default black pieces with the HBG grey German pieces. Does anyone have a picture of what that looks like setup on the board?

    • Sentmassen's unit boxes WIP

      Hello A&A peeps!

For the past year I’ve been upgrading my A&A 1940. New map, new pieces, new money, and I am now starting to upgrade my unit boxes to accommodate all the new bits. I had made plastic dividers for the existing boxes but it forced me to lump units together too much. I wanted something cleaner, bigger, and something that can hold cheat sheets relevant to the player.

I hope to try casting the outer box with colored resin and have it be a minimalist smooth plastic box (in the shade of the army it contains) with the nation’s logo stamped on top. The lid will also have cheat sheets printed on the inside.

Problems arise when 3 of the nations use colored roundels for identification, which really doesn’t work in relief. I could use other symbols like the Cross of Lorraine for France, maybe a Fasces for Italy, a crown for Britain? But I’m not all that happy with that idea. I don’t like adding new Iconography to the game. The alternative is just copy the default game roundels and insert colored acrylic plates into the lid.

      Name: Sentmassen (Ryan)
      Location: Oakland, CA
Games: A&A 1940 (have Fortress America and Twilight Struggle but have yet to play)

I usually like 2v2 teams but I would also be up for solo matches. I have a insatiable urge to play A&A so cant be picky.

    • RE: When will the HBG Germans and French Units Be Released?

they put out a newsletter on august 3rd saying “We also should be receiving our next German Set 3 from China next week, but give us 3-4 weeks to QC and start shipping them to the pre-orders. We will not be offering future pieces in sets but only in pieces in quantity of 5 so please be aware. You will see the sets slowly going away.” So… soon. As to the french, I would also really like to know.

    • RE: Looking for players in San Francisco (Marin)

I live in Oakland and am hoping I can find some people to play with. I’ve tried getting friends and coworkers together to do it, but it has always been met with mediocre results.

I’ve played the game a half dozen times but its been sporadic and half the players are always first timers. To this day I don’t think I’ve ever finished a game, even to a reasonable level, because we always spend 3 hours piddling about teaching the rules and such. At which point someone has to pick up Timmy for soccer practice and it all falls apart.

I prefer non 1v1 games (I enjoy teams). I’m typically flexible in my hours and willing to commit to a long game.
