    • RE: Research and Development question

We built our own tech rules. I won’t post here as I think it goes under House Rules section. They are country specific and we do require the power to be at war before researching. Germany and USA are the only atomic powers.

Did not find the rule as well. Looked in both books.

      DeGaulle,
I’ll try to take some pics and let you know how it turns out next week.

DeGaulle did you get the 39 setup finished with all your revisions? Would like to try it out still.

    • RE: Romanian IC G1

Marsh seems to see what I was going for. The extra move gets me there quicker and I can send tanks/mechs sooner. One good 10 tank build and I think Russia goes down economically and the Allies will need a lot of push once I do the big infantry purchase and wall up.

    • RE: Romanian IC G1

The initial thought was to try to press the south where all the good money is and keep the Bryansk stack neutered by making a german stack. G3 was attack time and build 10 infantry on Romania with max infantry in Germany. G4 mechs take Ukraine, northern army hits Leningrad. G5 slam Rostov. G6 Stalingrad Caucasus max defend Europe wall up and wait for some Japan help on the other side collect 70+ IPC’s. All while SBR Moscow and/or London. It’s a bit slower but I think it would be a bit more fun while enticing USA to try to come to Europe. I’ll try it and let you know if I can execute this. I only consider this because my opponent loves to turtle in Moscow and i seem to run out of steam and I thought by making it a 2 turn move to get to Moscow I could somehow outbuild him and bomb him at the same time increasing my chances of winning the big battle.

    • RE: Should we make better rules for invadable neutrals? (1940)

We have house rule that activates Spain pro-Axis as such: Germany collects income.
Franco joins the Axis powers. Spain can no longer remain neutral due to increasing pressure from Hitler.
Place German units consisting of 4 INF, 1 armor, 1 mobile infantry, 1 artillery, 1 fighter, 1 naval base, 1 airbase, 1 Minor Industrial complex in Spain. Place 1 Italian transport and 1 Italian destroyer in SZ 92. Morocco place 1 Italian INF (This event is negated if Spain is ever seized by the Allies. Morocco and naval units unaffected.)

The thought was to build 10 arty and connect with available units. Thoughts? Also not planning on G1 Barbarossa

I know someone has some experience on making this work and the mechanics of how to use this strategy. Any help, comments, experiences, opinions, etc are greatly appreciated.

I like it so far. Very interested to see how the Europe side turns out. I would be willing to attempt to add some of our house rules to this. Particularly the events could be very interesting add on to your game. Give a political feel to the whole thing.

    • Looking for a good 39 setup for AAG40 equipment and board

Has anyone playtested or developed any good setups for a 1939 start. We are looking to expand our rulesets without the need to buy more stuff. We have given FMG/HBG quite a bit of our money for trinkets, stickers, control markers, IPC’s, poker chips, base markers etc. We are just looking for something that we can print out and use our G40 board and pieces we currently own. Any help is appreciated.

    • RE: Worst Rule Distortions and Misinterpretations

we used to play the original game (Classic 1984 version) where you could double your AA gun fire with more AA guns (i.e. 2 dice per plane). This occurred only once and then the rulebook was referenced afterward. I think we had played about 2 times total.

    • RE: New Russian NO

I think the ability to give 5 IPC from USA to USSR if 125 is open is a pretty good one. Would this be done during collect income or purchase units phase? I would agree to it being during the purchase units phase.

    • RE: Pearl Harbor

This was tried in a game twice. I don’t really need to elaborate too much on the results. Japan won the Hawaii attack. The main painful effect was that the US was at 72 IPC on the 2nd round. The math here should explain it all.
Purchases went like this: AC, 2 ftrs, 2 TT, 2 inf, 2 arm, 1 art. Then 6 bombers. Alternate this each turn. Basically this came to bear on whatever side the US wanted for the rest of the game the player actually alternated this for 4 turns. The Japanese navy just couldn’t keep up. The fleet could never move off Phillipines and Hawaii wasn’t secured properly. The J1 attack tends to confuse the Japan player more than helps.
