      The tank can’t be loaded, as the sea zone is hostile during the Combat Movement phase.

      Damn, I concede! LOL

      I too have a transport question.  Japan has been conquered ( don’t ask, don’t ask  :-( ).  On the mainland adjacent to Japan is a Japanese tank.  Small US force in the SZ surrounding Japan.  I now need to come back with my Japanese fleet and retake Japan.  I want to bring a transport with one infantry to do an amphibious attack on Japan to try and liberate it.  Can my Japanse transport bridge the Japanese tank to Japan along with the one infantry it brought into the sea zone if the sea battle is won by Japan, as long as I declare that is my intent?  Or can the tank not bridge because the sz was hostile at the time the battle was declared?

    • RE: Preferred option to stall Japanese expansion.

      Hmmm, this has me thinking.  If I get the Axis in our next game (we draw markers every time) I just might try the SBR on Japan from Russia (with US/UK bombers) coupled with a show of US coming after Japan from the West coast.  This would really force Japan to pull their fleet home to help protect since their building would be limited.  This should relieve some pressure from Africa/Australia/India allowing UK to keep some IPC’s for 2/3 extra rounds.  UK might be able to buy an India IC on UK2/3 and hold it if Japan pulls back.  Any thoughts, problems with this?

      Everyone had mobile infantry!!  mobile means that it could move.

      Darn it LuckyDay, you took the words right out of my mouth.  I was going to state that I hope all countries had ‘mobile’ infantry or they were in a heap of trouble. LOL.  Well, maybe some Russians drinking too much vodka weren’t all that mobile!

      @Twigley:

      It’s always worth remembering that the US bombers can get there - in case the Japanese forget and mistakenly drop a couple of transports in their waters J1.

      My buddy and I have both done this….ONCE…on J1.  But never again  :-D

    • RE: Haven't played Axis and Allies in forever!

      My buddy got AAR for Christmas '08 (he is 50 this year).  We played it and I was instantly hooked.  I bought it too (I am almost 40).  My buddy at work now plays too with the two of us (we were all poker buddies), he just turned 30.  Not that ages matter but I wanted to point out that people of all ages love this game.  It just seems once you sit and play you are hooked.  Not too difficult but just enough strat and thinking required it is worth sitting and playing for a few hours, or days like some games take.  We can get together often to play, which we do.  We also have another 2-3 buddies that like to sit and play when they get the chance, which unfortunatley, is not as often.  We both also have AA50 now and my work buddy has AAE.  Since last Christmas we have played a version of these game at least once a week, sometimes more.  I may have a game on the go at my place with one buddy and a game on the go with my other buddy at his place.  Sometimes I get so confused which game I am playing I accuse one of cheating, LOL!!  Hey, you didn’t have that the last time……oh wait, that is the other game, LOL.  Can’t wait til the new AAE1940 and AAP1940 come out.

      Oh, and on another note, I cannot for the life of me get my wife to sit and play.  She is such an analytical person that I think she would love it, but she disagrees  :roll:

      @Cmdr:

      I find just keeping what you have left in SZ 56 is usually enough to prevent the fall of your islands for at least a few rounds.  Thing is, Japan has bigger fish to fry with their navy so they are loathe to move it to take worthless (to them) islands just to take a NO from America.  They will if all they need is 1 infantry, 1 transport (or add an armor if they are defended still).

      I do like the idea of IC + American fighters in Australia, but with the nerf to Improved Factories, it’s not really worth it either. (You can’t get it to 4 production, so why bother?)

      Cmdr, I have always liked the idea of the IC in Australia but have not really put it to the test, fairly.  I think an AC with a Cruiser to start (landing any fighters on the carrier you can) followed by a Destroyer and Transport (replacing allied fighter with your own (UK) asap) could really wreak havoc for the Japanese.  Especially if you back it with some US fleet.  Have you tried this?  Has anyone tried this?  And if so, how did it work out?  This could really stall the Japanese if you could put it together.

      Let’s remember if we want to keep the price reasonable we can’t possibly expect FMG to put every piece we all would like to see in the set.

      I would like to know if there is a timeline as to when the launch is expected?  Before Christmas 2009, Summer 2010, Christmas 2010?  Any idea FMG?

    • RE: Lets Talk 2 Types of Tanks

      @crusaderiv:

      I don’t agree

      3 types of tanks.
      Light tank = att & def at 2
      medium tank = att & def at 3  (May retrat after one round of combat).
      heavy tank = att & def at 4 (may retreat after one round of combat.

      Japan & Italy cannot produce medium tank.
      Only germany and USSR may produce heavy tank.

      How much are the heavy tanks Crusaderiv?  This sounds like it would benefit Germany more than Russia with Russia having to ‘budget’ more than Germany.

      I believe if you are going KGF you must keep Japan honest in the Pacific.  By using a small US fleet with a couple transports and infantry you can hopefully derail the Japanese attack.  If they ingore you Japan can be in a heap of trouble quickly.  I just keep threatening to take back some islands and it is usually enough to derail the Japanese for a couple rounds while they build extra fleets to hold off yours.  Not perfect by any means but I have found it to be usefull.  There MUST be a show of some force by the US in the Pacific or Japan will walk all over Russia.

      IL, I think one site is US @ $79.99 and the other is CDN at @119.99.  Luckily I live close enough to the border that it is worth the drive to Sarnia to pick one up.

      @Col.Stauffenberg:

      I’m getting this just because it’s my turn to buy the latest A&A game out of my circle. A couple guys have revised, a couple have AA50. I haven’t bought anything yet.

      Col., maybe you should wait and get AAE1940 when it comes out soon.  Might be a better way to spend your hard earned money, especially if you guys already have AAR and AA50 in your cirlce.

      Hey all, just found this thread.  I am in for a set.  I don’t have time to read through the whole thread to get an update as I am at work (lunch time).  Can anyone post a quick update on the progress of this project?  Timeline, has anything been setup for pre-orders yet etc?

      @allboxcars:

      What marketing moron ever invented this disloyal & stupid business strategy?

      The marketing moron’s that know in order to get any new fans they have to offer a reasonably priced game that someone will buy.  If you had no experience at all with this game but was just out with the family/friends to purchase a new game to play would you buy the $100 anniversary edition of a war game?  Probably not.  Would you buy a $35 dollar version of a war game?  Yeah, probably.  And if you liked it enough you just might spend more money to buy some other versions too.  Yeah, those marketing morons have no idea what they are doing, LOL  :roll:

    • RE: Heavy Bombers…...AGAIN!!

      Not complaining Robert, ‘venting’.  I have posted another thread regarding the fact that I like playing with tech because it changes every game and every battle.  Makes each game new and refreshing, especially with 12 techs!!  I have seen paratroopers in Russia be put to the best possible use and it was amazing, again though, it was my opponent that had it  :-D

      In short, no complaining, just thought I would use the boards to vent and share my bad luck story, for your amusement  :-)

    • Heavy Bombers…...AGAIN!!

      So here is the scenario.  Playing AA50 (42 version, for a change).  Japan has been slowed, UK has a factory in India and is defending it well.  UK saving some IPC’s for a decent fleet to be introduced in the UK.  The US has taken Gibraltar back and has a nice fleet there with a chain of transports ready to start the shuck.  Germany has three bombers already and hits heavies on a tech roll.  In comes 3 German bombers and 3 fighters, totally wipes out my US fleet, saving all 3 bombers.  3 turns later Russia has fallen with one bomber hitting each of the Caucasus and Moscow for 7 & 8 damage and no way to defend itself.  I hate losing to luck of the die.

      Just venting,

    • RE: Transport questions

      The tank cannot move before loading, it must be adjacent to the sz where your transport is.  So TripleA is correct.

      You should be able to load a man, move on space, load another, move one space and unload.  If you cannot then TripleA is not responding correctly.

      I hope this helps.
