    • RE: Great Game Weekend!

I like seeing young folk playing the game.  It gives me hope that not all is lost on video games and electronic devices.  My son is 12 and is just starting to get into A&A although we play a lot of other games like D&D, MTG and most recently Talisman.

Nice setup too.  I really need to get myself a setup like that.

    • RE: The Japan Playbook

I just used the J1 attack for the first time and it turned out pretty good.  Japan was going to take India and then Germany had Russia at the start of the next round (played by someone else).  It was a nice effort on both our parts to keep our eyes on the prize and not be deterred by the Allies threats.

Russia was forced to try alternate strats and purchases some sea units incl. transports to drop some units into Germany.  Obviously a mistake as that money could have went to defend Russia.  However, it would have only been a matter of time before Russia fell anyway.  A major IC build by Germany (on G2) really helps with a quick push.  Does anyone else do that with Germany?

Also, the Americans made a big mistake by leaving sea units (incl. three loaded transports) two spaces off the coast of France.  He thought he would be able to reinforce with UK units which he did.  But instead of bringing ALL his UK units he used two Cruisers to do an amphibious on Norway.  He missed on his pot shots and the Norway attack was a big failure.  I don’t think he expected the Germans to come after the US stuff either now that it was reinforced with UK as Germany would have had to sac their planes by taking two hits on the carrier.  That battle went all Germany’s way with the carrier and both planes surviving.  If the UK had of reinforced the entire fleet with both Cruisers as well it may have been a different outcome.  Anyway, because of that mistake Germany had no immediate threat of a US landing in Normandy and was able to take an extra couple rounds for the Russia push.

On the Pacific side it played out very well for the Japanese.  With the mistake of overlooking an Anzac Cruiser that took out a Japanese destroyer blocker so the US could destroy three transports being the only real mistake by the Japanese the push into India was quite easy if only delayed by a couple rounds.

      Allies condeded!

I think I like the J1 attack and will try it again in my next game.

    • Capturing Major IC with damage markers

Japan took India.  India had 14 damage markers on it.  Major IC turns to minor IC.  What happens to the damage markers?  Reduced to 6?  Removed all together?  All 14 stay?

Currently in game, thanks for your help.

    • RE: Russia invading Japan

So lets see if I have this straight.  If Russia attacks any Japanese territory bordering Mongolia, Mongolia will not become allied so Japan can now move freely into Mongolia.  If Japan attacks any territory boardering Mongolia, then Mongolia become allied.  Is this only before all countries are at war with each other or does this stand as long Russia and Japan are not at war with each other? I’m still a little bit confused.

    • Set up Cards - are they the same

Are the 41 & 42 setups still as per the original setup cards that came with the game?  I don’t see anything specific advising that the setups are officially changed unless it is buried in the rules errata somewhere.  Thanks to anyone that can help.

    • Russia invading Japan

Everyone is at war now except Russia and Japan have not invaded each other.  What happens now if Russia comes into Japan?  Is the one-time 10 IPC cost still effective?

If you capture a territory with a minor factory do you keep that factory or is it removed?

    • Playing Britain

Not sure if this is the right forum for Q&A, sorry if it is not.  When playing Britain it says London and India play separately.  What happens if India moves pieces to the European side of the board.  Can UK London move those pieces on their turn?

    • Factory building

Holy crap batman it’s been a long while since I have been on here.  I see a new A&A game is coming out…sweet.

Anyway, rules say major factory can be built on territory with 3 or higher under your control from the beginning of the game.  Does that mean Japan can build a major complex in Kwangsu since they control it at the beginning of the game?

Hopefully someone can answer quickly, game in progress…

      Thanks all.

    • RE: Rules clarifications - another post

According to Larry’s most recent posting the US NO’s are below.  So the US only gets their starting 35 IPC’s and then add the NO’s below when at war, correct?  Nothing else.  We are under the impression it was 35 starting plus 30 when at war PLUS the NO’s on top of that 65 for a possible 90+depending on the NO’s accomplished.

      United States
      When at War
      1. Collect 15 IPCs per turn for complete control of the continental US and Mexico (WUS, CUS, EUS).
      2. Collect 5 IPC per turn if the Allies control 5 of the 7 following islands. Midway, Wake, Marianas, Iwo Jima, Caroline, Solomon Islands and Guam.
      3. Collect 5 IPCs per turn for controlling the Philippines
      4. Collect 5 IPCs per turn for controlling Hawaii, Alaska, the Aleutian Islands, Line Islands, and Johnston Island
      5. Collect 5 IPCs for turn for controlling Southern Mexico, Central America (Panama)and the West indies

    • RE: Rules clarifications - another post

US starts with 35IPC.  Once in war do they only get the NO’s or does their income bump up + they still get their NO’s?  We have started a game and are quite confused.  If their IPC’s go up once at war AND they get their NO’s then they get a whole lot of IPC’s.  Please explain.

LOL! OK, never mind question 1.  I jumped the gun and should have read the whole section before posting my question.  I see that is whoever owns Gibraltar can use the strait and Morocco has no impact.  My bad, lol.

    • Rules clarifications - another post

Hey guys.  Gonna post my questions as a I read through the rule book.  Any help is appreciated.  Canals/Straits.  I assume that once Morocco is seized no Allied ships can pass through this strait, correct?  Silly question but want to make sure.

Where can I see this newest set-up.  Getting Europe for Christmas and would like to be prepared with the newest set-up so I can start at 6am Christmas morning when my son wakes me from my deep slumber, lol.

    • The Global Game - More Balanced?

It’s been a while since I have posted.  I kind of feel like a fish out of water now.  I purchased the Global Pacific portion of this game on release.  We stopped playing it because we felt Japan was way overpowered.  So we basically resigned to playing Anniversary going forward.  It’s time to wipe the dust off the box as I am getting the Global Europe portion of the game for Christmas. I was wondering if the game is more balanced now?  Any input or general changes that have been accepted to balance the game or is it good as it is right out the box (Global set-up).

Also, what is Larry’s alpha set-up all about?  Is it in the rule book?  I can’t quite wait until Christmas, I have to start poking around now.

      Regards,
      Captain Crunch

Hey all.  Through my communications with FMG last week there was to be an announcment on the forums last week regarding their project for battle pieces.  Can anyone link me to that announcement?
