RE: Um, AA50 upwards of $800-1200 on amazonposted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
@MidnightExpress:
I just saw two AA50 auctions on ebay sell for $185.02 and $201 plus shipping so it’s not an unattainable game.
Yeah…but did you notice that it was the same person that won each of those items?

http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=251630644174&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2765k***y must have really wanted two copies @ a total cost of $410.32 (shipping included), or
maybethey were just shill bids? Who knows…but it was those two auctions that directly led me to simply purchase some HBG and FMG Italian units and augment my 1942.2 game :-P -

I was fortunate enough to spend some time in/around Micronesia. I know I’ve got some other photos but I thought I’d share this one for now. I have no idea what kind of tank/vehicle it is…maybe someone else can identify it?

Soviet Ghostsposted in World War II History
So I was checking weather.com today for – well, the weather forecast…and I noticed an image of the Soviet hammer and sickle. What did I find there?
The DailyMail also has a nice article on it.
“Abandoned military bases, deserted hospital wards and cinemas which are now just a shadow of their former glory - these are the haunting images of the ghosts behind the former Soviet Union’s Iron Curtain”

RE: Um, AA50 upwards of $800-1200 on amazonposted in Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
Black Elk,
I agree…the closest I got was a $240 item on ebay!
So I did the next best thing…I adapted my 1942.2 game to emulate AA50 :)
I transferred some german real estate to Italy, and added some FMG and HBG units to create Italy.
I’m thinking about adding in the NO’s but it gets tricky with Japan already owning so much in the Pacific (on the 1942.2 board that is).
I’ll be sure to post a play through once my group gets down to it.

RE: Switzerlandposted in House Rules
I like the possibility of invading any country I want to.
I agree…but I think the G40 mechanics worked better, not sure why it was changed with 1914.
If a player decides to invade a true neutral country, then all the true neutrals should swap to the alternate power.

RE: Switzerlandposted in House Rules
Maybe the game designers made it only 1 IPC to minimize the number of Inf. and Art. in the already “busy” area.
I played with Switzerland OOB in my initial games, but would probably look at an impassable option in my next one.
It’s just a matter of getting the crew together for that time commitment :|

RE: Battle Board for Axis & Allies 1914, Combat rounds,IPC chart, Task Force Cardsposted in Axis & Allies 1914
Chacmool,
Nothing official…just something I found odd (Allied Italy) when I first unboxed/played the game.
Historically, Italy didn’t join the war until 1915.
http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/italy-declares-war-on-austria-hungary
While I understand the need to strike a balance between historical accuracy and a – board game, it just felt weird starting with Allied Italy. Of course, the argument can be made that Italy goes second to last in the game…so maybe it’s a moot point.
Then I saw some various discussion of the subject on the boards here…

http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=29300.0…so, I hope you enjoy the cards! If you go with the neutral first round play…let me know how it works for you!
