1.We have no business in Iraq…. But oh wait the weapons of mass destruction you say…  did France smuggled them out? that was the last thing i heard…

Funny, Didn’t Bill Clinton say the same thing about WMD?  DIdn’t teh UN?  Didn’t France?  Take your liberal diatrabe and shove it.  Schooled boyee.

      2. Saddam is a horrid dictator who kills his people… well “these people” as he is using in his defence were trying to overthrow his government and he gassed(where did he get the gas? ahh oh sh*t…that’s right we gave it to him wooops um) for treason basically bah… were killing those people left and right cause they are trying to overthrow the one were installing… don’t see Georgy getting thrown into prison…

Okay so basically you’re okay with the murders of over 100,000 people.  Your cool with the gassing of Kurds.  You are liberal wackjob.  DId we give him chemicals?  Yes, and he was an ally back then in the 80’s as a bullwark against an even greater evil in Iran.  I’m glad to see that your hindsite is bette than your foresite.  That’s why Republicans are in office and not dems.   I don’t remember George Bush killing people he disagrees with.  Lib.

. he was connected to ahh who was that guy… were hunting him down for doing something real bad… ahh a… ahhh … oh yeah 9-11 the world trade something or other what was that guys name… anyway i was told he was chummy with Saddam, which ahh nope that ain’t right… Saddam thought that guy was nutz…And what the hell ever happend to that were gonna smoke him out sh*t Georgy was talking about? that was a smoke screen…

So far no one from the BUsh administration ever said Saddam was responsible for 9/11. YOu really need to get off those left-wing websites.  You truly have a mind of mush.  Oh does Zarqawi ring a bell?  Does Saddam’s paying Suicide bombers in Israel ring a bell either?

Ok i am sorry since i can’t think of one reason were in this war… i don’t think i can give anyone a reason to stay… well maybe you can get bush and those damn Hawks over there to do some fighting and let are armed forces have a day off… since its really just the hawks and neocons war let them go fight it for a day…

I say that if you hate freedom so much why don’t you move your liberal @$$ to North Korea and let me know how it goes.

We can’t run from Iraq.  We ran from Somalia thanks to Bill Clinton and gave the terrorists a huge advantage.  They saw how they could beat the United States.  All they have to do is kill US Soliders and the bleeding heart liberals will clamour for withdrawl.  That’s the game the’re playing in Iraq.  Look what Somallia gave the US.  Bombings in African embasies and bombing of USS Cole, not to mention all those terrorist attacks in Saudi Arabia.  The point is we have to defeat the terrorists on their own ground now or have to fight them on our ground again later.

Leave it to liberals to divide this nation.  Thank you Ted, Hillary, Dick “the Turbin” Durbin, Nancy Peloici, and the rest of you traitors.

I though a democrat at one time said, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country."  I guess they forgot about that when self-interest became a priority over the welfare of our troops.

thanks again guys, but as im sure you are well aware there are many other vets that get ignored and spit on by people. hell i got spit on 3 days ago because i was wearing my corps shirt, crazy b**** spit on me and called me a war monger, what the hell is that all about.

That’s because she’s a liberal b*****.  She’s been brainwashed by the far-left in this nation, which unfortunetaly is aided by the liberal anti-Bush media.  She hates you because she hates this nation.  I wish people like her were shipped off to North Korea.  Then she’d see how good she has it in this nation.

Don’t let it get to you Major,  She is in the minority when it comes to those in America who love and support our troops.

As far as China goes as we are having this continued debate here, They would indeed consider invading Taiwan IF WE PULL OUT OF IRAQ.  My scenario as described above would be a real possibility, but its only a possibility if the ignorant liberals are allowed to have their way.  Bush is the only one stopping the above scenario due to his wanting to get Iraq on its feet.  I know that may anger some of those of the left persuasion in this forum, but that’s the truth.  Liberals do not have a clue as to what to do in Iraq except “cut and run”.  They want that to happen so if Iraq plunges into a civil war, they can step back and blame President Bush.  Hipocrits.  If they’d had a real plan in Iraq, then I’d listen to them, but even John Kerry didn’t have a plan for Iraq in 2004 and they don’t have one today.  Go figure.

    • RE: World War 3?

      Major Konings,

Myself along with all other right-thinking Americans are proud of brave soldiers like you who have honored this nation with your service.  As much as I may disagree with many others in this forum, and I may even disagree with you on certain themes, one thing I have learned from my years in this great country is that it remains great and safe due to selfless individuals like yourself.  Yes, you have every right to feel the way you do about President Bush or anyone else for that matter.Â

On to my other point I would like to make before a firestorm starts here.  My point is this.  The United States is the only reason the world hasn’t blown up into WWIII on a global scale.  As far as the current situation around the world, I believe we (the United States) are already fighting WWIII in the form of muslim fascists who want nothing more to kill each and every one of us because Allah tells them to.  We are fighting them on a global scale.

As far as other nations involved including China, North Korea, Iran, Russia, and many others, the only reason they haven’t made a move yet is due to the United States’ military power.  Now that being said, for all those liberals in America and abroad who want the US to lose the war in Iraq, or to cut and run, here’s the danger in that thinking:

If we cut and run in Iraq, the terrorists will be handed a major victory.  The other enemies of this country (ie CHina, North Korea, Russia, and Iran) would see we can be beaten if enough US soldiers are killed and also by being aided by the Anti-American and Anti-military media in this nation and around the world.  Nothing is more important than that simple fact.  IF we pull out and “cut-and-run” like Murtha and other liberals want us to do in Iraq, the following would happen.  Maybe not right away, but within the next 5 + years.

North Korea would develop nuclear weapons.  They would then send their forces into South Korea making the Korean Penninsula an ignited powder keg.

China would increase it’s ambitions by gearing up and invading Tawain which would prove disasterous not only for the lives lost, but for the computer industry that would then be dominated by the Red Chinese.  I won’t rule out the possibility of a neutron bomb or a nuclear bomb being used as the Tawainese air force would be able to tear apart any fighter China could send against them.  China, in possible desparation, especially if the US gets involved would be to resort to these weapons.

Iran would start to flex its muscle in the Middle East by threatening any US sympathetic country (ie Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and Qatar) to remove the US presence from their region.  These muslim countries would then ask US forces to leave due to seeing that we did not stay the course in Iraq and would not want to anger Iran who would develop several nuclear weapons in the Middle East.  After the US would move out of the Middle East, Iran would threaten Oil reserves in these countries by declaring a possible invasion of Iraq, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.  This would drive oil prices up 200% causing massive shortages in the industrialized west.  Iran might even pull the trigger and invade these said countries because they would see that the US would not be willing to fight any war that would create great casualties.

Russia would employ brutal tactics against the Chechnian rebals by launching an all out ground invasion, or a limited chemical strike on Grosny to try to decapitate the resistance once and for all.

Serbia would gear up its military for an attack against Kosovo to continue its acts of ethnic cleansing that it had employed during the 1990’s.  Serbia might even try to regain it’s former Yugoslavian glory by attacking the former Yugoslavian republics.

Well, that’s what I think would happen.  Maybe it’s a little far-fetched, but what would happen if all these happened around the same time frame?  What would the world response be to this new Axis of Evil?  Could the UN be relied upon?  NO.  Would the US be willing to "go it alone?"  The answer all depends on who is running the country during this time.

For all liberals in this forum.  Read this scenario the next time you start your anti-American retoric.  America is the only thing keeping you safe.

    • RE: Dems win in Jersey and Virginia governors races

We’re blaming the liberal media again? Remember, Judith Miller went to jail for two months to protect the identity of Scooter Libby, who had to sign a waiver before she would reveal her source. That’s not the “liberal” media, it’s responsible journalism. She tried to stop this from happening.

So far I don’t even see what Scooter Libby did that was illegal.  I wouldn’t be able to remember something two years ago either.  And Yes, Yanny, a liberal media.  Try watchin CNN for a few days and YOu’ll get the picture.  Dan Rather anyone?

If Bush didn’t lie about WMDs, then where are they? Colin Powell went before the UN with satellite photos saying “Look, here they are. I’m pointing to them right now. The WMDs are right here”, and… they weren’t. Bush made his case for war based upon a false premise. War crimes?

Again, you are trying to say Bush lied because there are no WMDs yet.  Yanny, a definition of a lie is if you intentially mislead someone.  NOtice the word “intentional”.  Where is your proof that Bush Lied?  Where are the memos that stated, “Yeah, I know that there are no WMD’s but we’re going to invade anyway and lie about it.”  Where is your proof?  You have none so you think that since the weapons were not there that Bush lied.  That is misleading.  YOu must prove that Bush intentionally lied or if he was misinformed.  He was probably misinofrmed as I have no evidence that he lied and neither do you.  If you claim that you do then you are a liar.

Too much? I think theres too little. The media treated Bush lightly during the election, during the Iraq War, and they aren’t being damaging enough during this current Rove/Libby situation. I think there are two types of mainstream media out there: The pussy media and the conservative media. By the pussy media I mean the mainstream newspapers, network news programs, and in some cases cable news networks. These major institutions are too unwilling to seem biasd toward either left or right, so they refuse to take a hard stance on anything. They are afraid to be too damaging to anyone, Democrat or Republican. The conservative media are your talk radio hosts for the most part. They actually build following through bias, and are very blatant about it. They also lie their asses off (“Senator George Allen, favorite for the Republican nomination for President [who is actually polling at 4%]”.)

That is a bunch of crap.  What stations are you watching?  I’d like to watch them too.  What about all the negative reporting in Iraq without showing any of the great things we’ve accomplished?  Remember Memo Gate with Dan Rather?  Newsweek’s fake story on the Koran flushing?  The New York Times’ 48 Front Page articles about Abu Grabe?  Come on Yanny, pull your head out of the quicksand before you get swollowed in.  It’s all biased against Bush.  If it wasn’t for talk Radio and FoxNews, Memo Gate never would have been exposed adn there’d be no balance in the media.

You are really straw-manning here. We’re talking about WWII here, 40 years before I was born, and no one is denying what the war (and our bombs) did to these countries.

That still doesn’t detract from how bad those things were.  They were worse than anything that is happening in Iraq.

Clinton in Kosovo didn’t a) toture prisoners or b) instigate the war on a false premise or c) fail to get the support of everyone else in NATO.

Uh huh.  That is a lame argument Yanny.  If I remember correctly, Clinton went into Kosovo without the approval of the UN!!!  And who is everyone else? Britian helped as did many other Eastern European countries.  France and Germany didn’t help because they were getting kickbacks from Saddam which has already been proven through the oil of food scandle.

Mary you are a disgrace.  I am sorry to hear such foul language from someone who is filled with such rage.  You have to stop looking at those moveon.org websites.  You are truly out of touch and from the sounds of it unhinged.  I am glad I am getting to you because you need to look outside your leftist prisim.  So far I have schooled you repeatedly about muslim terrorism.

Here’s the problem: you defined terrorism as Muslim oriented and got your a** handed to you. Muslims have carried out two attacks on the U.S., both at the World Trade Center. Christian Fundamentalists have been bombing abortion clinics for the last 20 years.

Um did you for get WTC 1993, the African bombings of US embassys?  The USS cole?  Keeping you honest, Mary as you are misleading everyone.  Yes, there are people who bomb abortion clinics.  If they claim to be Christian, they aren’t and I condemn those people, but you need to face the facts about a world-wide epidemic called Islamafacism.  Translation: Muslim terrorism.

That’s just one group. The IRA has been engaged in terrorism for decades. Ever hear of a certain Pan Am flight that exploded over Lockerbye?

Another example and it is wrong and evil, but that is part of the other 5%.  Let’s also look to what the Palestinians have been doing to Israel for years as well.

Note the lack of the word “Muslim”. Know why Muslims are doing a lot of terrorism lately? Cause we fucking invaded a Muslim nation and lied to the world about it! Gee, might that piss some people off, people who’s relatives we killed in our “shock and awe” mad scramble to rid Iraq of WMD’s?

Now Mary enough with the bad language.  YOu have yet to prove that President Bush lied about WMDs and your pathetic Downing Street Memos are not proof as I recently schooled you on that.  If you are of the mindset that Bush lied, then please also show in your posts that Clinton lied about WMD’s in 1998 when he launched 3 days of cruise missiles that killed how many innocent civilians?  POST AGAINST THAT MARY.  Where is your outcry against those civilians?  Call Clinton a warcriminal right now and I’ll let up on you or are you a hipocrit?  You must be fair and you must have proof if you’re going to play this game.  So far, there is no proof that Bush lied and if you are trying to say that he did, YOU ARE A LIAR!!

Look, Chengora politely corrects you. The rest of us don’t have as much patience. Even as a troll you fail. CYA. Lrn2Post.

I see that you resort to the liberal attacks that if you can’t debate someone, try to personally attack them.  Again Mary, you fail because I am not going away.  Love ya and I’ll be seeing ya soon.   :-D

    • RE: C.I.A. Sponsored Gulags?

No, not exactly correct.  Occupation entails contested authority.  There’s a reason the war treason category of crimes does not exist anymore.  Plus, just war theories and international law were meant to be casuistic.  While yes, the Iraqi government at least nominally holds legitimate authority, the fact that its military and security structure is run through another country pretty much means that it’s under occupation according to international law.  For example, Syria was occupying Lebanon up until this year (although it may still have units there), despite the responsiveness of the Lebanese government to that Syrian presence.  Similarly with the US and Iraq.  You’re playing on a technicality that is not reflective of political and military reality, and no one serious politician or analyst is going to defend your argument.  As long as US forces are in Iraq, it’s an occupation.

No that is not correct.  We’re not in charge of the country.  We’re keeping it secure because Iraq has no military.  Once they get theirs trained, we can leave.  Isn’t that the correct way to do it?

You cannot compare the US to Syria.  Syria occupied Lebanon because THEY WANTED TO OWN IT.  We liberated Iraq and are keeping it safe for the Iraqi people.  We haven’t made one dime on Iraqi land and haven’t taken over anything and claimed it as our own.  Do you know of any examples of us taking Iraqi territory for ourselves and declaring it a part of America.  Watch out yourself for your claims as they are incorrect.

I mean after all, NATO is in the Balkans and doesn’t own any terrotiry there.  Does that make them occupiers?  What about the UN peacekeeping forces in Pakistan and India?

Now, this is not to say that occupation is illegitimate.  Far from it.  However, a responsibility of the occupant, and something it should prepare for, is that authority will be contested in occupation.  Look at the former Yugoslavian countries.  Carla Delaponte has the power to restrict or rescind democratic action (elections of ultra-nationalistic politicians), which I believe is fully legitimate, although something that should be done cautiously and transparently.  However, those politicians still had a clearly expressed and legitimate basis of support among the sovereign (the people).  Occupation, sometimes unfortunately, can be thought of as a battle for legitimacy, and it’s really difficult to say one is “right” or “wrong.”

This is not an occupation.  We could have been out of there sooner if people didn’t feel the need to start killing civilians and trying to overthrow the new Iraqi government.  There is no battle for legitimacy.  The Iraqi people voted.  They chose their goverment.  What more do you want?

Also, be careful with the term "unlawful combatant."  Again, you’re citing only one part of the Geneva Convention, and frankly, I don’t think really know what that term means.  It exists in the penumbra of international legal discourse, as a repository category since, if there are soldiers who fight legally (according to the laws of war), then there should be those who fight illegally.  But notice here that they are combatants, subject to and protected by the Geneva Conventions’ terms on combatant rights.  The classification of their status has already been established

Quite simply an unlawful combatant is anyone trying to kill without a uniform.  Example:  The Viet Cong.  Also The German infiltration units during the Battle of the Buldge.  Muslim terrorists without uniforms trying to kill American and Coalition soliders also fall into this category.  Basically the Geneva convention was to try to make combat more "humane"  and that anyone stepping outside the bounds of being a “normal soldier” shouldn’t be protected.  I don’t know how combat can be more humane, but I think the main premise was to have uniformed soldiers fighting so each could distinguish the other.  I figured that much out and I don’t even have a political science degree.

The point I’m trying to make is that nothing in the Conventions allows for the creation of a null category that the US can put any unpleasant individual into and do whatever it wants to them.  More strongly, it is illegal under international law, and if you want to throw it out, then go ahead.  But be aware of Powell’s concerns, that disregarding international law increases the likelihood of those actions to be done to US soldiers.  In addition, as I said, you abandon the rule of law, and thus, the US has lost in a significant way.

What about the muslim terrorists cutting people’s heads off?  Are you outraged about that or only when American’s may or may not do it to others?

Also, don’t forget that with IEDs and RPGs, even those people who use them can be considered legitimate combatants.  It’s really actions like suicide bombings against civilians which calls into question their actions.

While wearing proper uniform.  I mean, most people in WWII that used these weapons were wearing uniforms.

RB, you’ve got to watch out for logical leaps.  I’m sure no one on this board liked Saddam’s regime.  But you cannot logically castigate people for exploring alternative policies to assist the Iraqi people short of war and then claim they support Saddam.  It’s only because you’ve set up Saddam as more evil than any other value can you make that argument.  But there are a lot of bad things out there, and it’s an open question whether the controlled anarchy defining Iraqi existence now is actually better than the ordered violence of Saddam.  There are still people in Iraq who do not belong to a terrorist organization or a resistance movement or were former members of the Baath party who nevertheless wish Saddam were there.  Consequently, some analysis of the run up to war and alternative policies is a very fruitful thing, in part because it acknowledges mistakes that were made, creates an opportunity to rectify them, and evinces to the Iraqi people that there is accountability in the US government.

My friend, you and other’s like you like Mary want to continue to harp on whether or not Saddam could have been peacfully disarmed and that war could have been avoided.  But let me ask you this and I want you to answer truthfully, In the 12 years from the end of the first gulf war to 2003, did Saddam ever do anything that would have enhanced the prospects of a peacful solution?  What else could have been done.  The man snubbed his nose at the world for 12 years and no one stopped him.  He even obtained military hardware from nations like France and Russia (against the terms of the cease-fire in '91 by the way).  So please tell me…what else could have been done to free the Iraqi people except the removal of Hussein?  What else?  I’m not the one making the big leap here, I’m the one seeing the picture for what it is.  People like Hussein would never change.

Finally, as I’ve written to others before, the standard “hard-nosed” argument that people don’t see the inherent evil in the world is faulty, to say the least.  What defines politics, and frankly almost anything else, is complexity.  Boiler-plate responses about who’s good, who’s bad, who’s right, and who’s evil fail to acknowledge that there are a lot of people stuck in the middle who, quite frankly, are the most important individuals to be looking out for.  Occupations are hard because there are many different actors who have their own interests, most of which are probably legitimate.  Always projecting the worst intentions on anyone you see, and not recognizing their limitations, strengths, weaknesses, and advantages, causes overextension and failure to win the hearts and minds campaign.  After all, if you start seeing enemies in all places, and then acting upon that, you lose an occupation.  Look at Vietnam, Algeria, Lebanon, Armenia, etc.

And look at the United States and her true allies fighting every day for the safety and freedom of the Iraqi people.  Who else has done more for them?  Has France helped them with all their dealings with Saddam.  No.  It is the constant selflessness of the American solider that pays in blood for the freedom of others even when they themselves may not appreciate it (just look at France since WWII).  It is us and always us.  I am proud to be an American that I can idolize men and women like that.  Huurraah!

I hope this is a logical error and not something you actually believe. Were Timothy McVeigh and Terri Nichols trying to “shape a world view based off of a Muslim Fascist policy”? Was the UnaBomber? Was the KKK? If you’re Muslim you’re a terrorist but if you’re Christian, you’re what? A crusader?

I expected more from a “master debator”, but maybe that’s a typo too. Maybe you’re really referring to yourself as a “masturbator”

Mary, if that’s the best you can do, why don’t you just chuck it in?  You are reducing yourself to personal attacks.  I am ashamed of you and you give us all a black eye when you do that  :-D.

Terrorists come in all shapes and sizes.  Yes, Timothy McVeigh, Terri Nichols, and the Unabomber were all terrorists including the KKK, but those are the only ones you can come up with.  I don’t even recall any other white terrorists in this country.  However, over 95% of the world’s terrorists are muslim from Palestine to Indonesia and even in Europe ie France.  I just call it where I see it.

Just keeping you honest Mary.  You can’t win against me.

The kind of sh*t you post gives us all a black eye. If we allow that, what do we say if some nutjob comes on posting “DIE, Marines, DIE!” everytime we lose a guy over in Iraq?

Um, try to come up with an intellectual argument if you want to go up against me.  I’m not advocating the death of anyone, are you?  Grow up.
