    • RE: Axis&allies or axis&allies: europe

I have both. I found that AA is a bit better, but sence i have both i can play with destroyers and the escort rule for SBRs. AA is good for the first time cause it gives the poor axis player an allie =). but yes, the AAE is much more balanced.

    • RE: House rules and stories of pure luck.

My luckiest story huh? Well there are 2.

The first one, i was US, and the Germany player desided to attack my transport in the EUS SZ and leave it there so i would have to take that out FIRST. So he declares his move and attacks. He missed. I then rolled and rolled a one! His sub was dead, the battleship was in gibraltar, and he had no sub!

The second one is unbeleavable. I was germany and the US player went for a Japan-first strat. I preceded to take karleia and dig in, seeing that he had something like 16 inf in russia, and i matched him in Karleia. I devoted my airforce to attacking the navies, and desided i was gonn go for britain. I was gonna do an itial assult to scare then and maybe get pressure off japan. So i got 2 trans in south eur and loaded them up with 4 inf. I sent them out, but had to take a detour to avoid a british sub. I then found myself in an unbeleavable place. I was one SZ away from the us, and he only had an inf, a ftr, and a arm (besides the AA and IC), and he had no navy in the east (the british player was supposed to take care of that). “ok”, i thought, “lets REALLY scare the hell out of them”. I attacked the US. You should have seen there faces! The US player just stared at me, then the board, then me, then the board. I attacked, no covering, and not likely to win. I rolled all frikin ones. EVERY SINGLE DICE WAS A ONE! NO ONE could beleave it. The US then preceded to take out 1 of my inf with his ftr. I WAS IN CONTROL OF THE US CAPITAL!!! Never the less he knocked me out that turn with inf he was gonna send at Japan, but the blow was unfixable. I had the USA’s income and money for a turn. I had enough money to get bombers, and i raped britain and releaved pressure on japan. Needless to say, we had an axis vicotry with the fall of africa, moscow, and most of asia. Magic 84. It was crazy…there was so much excited yelling in that game…

    • RE: Which is more importand unit of a fleet in A&A Europe?

Yup, if your playing the us or britain i would get the destroyers cause they can counter the subs first srtike and stil provide shore fire. B8t if your Germany…your spending 24ipcs on a fleet? same with russia, only its about…oh…thousands of times worse if you spend 24ipcs on a russian fleet. Although, i have a person who wins by taking England.

    • RE: Rookie, need help, Thz!!!

I could have sworn we have always played that way… but now I can’t remember. Was that a common misconception that got clarified by MB and I missed it, or did I just pull that out of thin air in a sleep-deprived haze?

The air units retreating if land units dead…isnt that an AAP rule? I remeber that too…

Supposedly you can’t. However, we always thought this was a stupid rule that has nothing to do with the game - we have pieces from two games combined into one

Interesting take i have on that. I follow that rule, and the reason me and my friends came up for it was that it represents the number of skilled generals in each countries army. So, the powers only have 10 skilled tank generals, but you can hacve as many regular guys driving tanks as you want, as per the unlimited chips under the plastic peace. And there is no point in haveing 2 generals leading one army(stack) so you can just put a regular guy there, or another chip.

    • RE: Karelian Complex… dumb question

He’s a very interesting person. He developed the most powerful fighter in the world at the time, the Mistubishi Zero Fighter

Something interesting on that. I was at an air museam once and the guide told us that a man (unfortunatly i cant rember his name) from america came up with a basic plan for a fast fighter plane. He brought it to the pentagon and they regected it. The man then went to Japan and gave the plan to Yamoto. That plane became the Zero

    • RE: Question about placing a newly purchased naval unit

In the board game rules (which i have) it says you lose the unit you try to place or you can place it and the enemy can chose to move or attack on his next turn during the combat movement

    • RE: Italy

I have also played with an italy before. I found that Germans found themselves with a false new feeling of security because the can focus on russia, but its false concierding they get almost no new IPCs early. However, i found that you have to eliminate the magic 84 rule. All italy needs is a few transports and he has africa and is helping japan in Asia. An american invation of africa is detured by german forces in algeria and italy can now prepare for a second assult while going for Russia (this is of course concidering germany or italy havent had terrible lukc and lost in europe to russia yet). This puts america behind, Russia dead, and the UK scrambling. ITS SO MUCH FUN! You can even get rid of Ruusia restriction if you have italy go first (which i did). however, you get none, absolutly none, of this jucy fun stuff if you include the magic 84. Its over before turn 5 (concidering decent luck with the axis). BUT: if you get rid of the magic 84 this puts a massive drive on capitals, and gives Germany a little more reason to seriously think about the invation of GB…seeing that you have to.

Many new thing come up in a 3v3 game, like the london bliz and i even had a german player give up Ukr and EEu and take the UK! But you gotta get rid of Magic 84 otherwise you will find the game is tipped too far in favor of the axis.

O and btw, these game take a few days…so have a sleepover.
