    • RE: Typical First Round

it depends, what strategy you are following.

      germany:
some people buy a carrier. because it is not sufficient to defend itself you need company, mostly a destroyer and a submarine. this put into the seazone 112 where a battleship, a cruiser and a transport are parked.
but, because sealion doesn´t win any game i prefer to buy three submarines and a bomber to establish a naval threat in the west.

      russia:
most buys are 9 infantry, 1 artillery and a tank every round.

japan: a naval base and a transport, saving some ipcs or three transports and saving ipcs as well.

      uk-europe:
mostly infantry. depends from the outcome of the first round of the german player.

uk-pacific: a carrier or men, depens from japan´s turn.

      italy:
i lean towards buying nothing. just moving and attacking to secure good positions to invade africa via egypt.

us: here it depends from the decision where to go first: europe or asia. there you place your buys. i suggest for both theaters 4 submarines, a carrier and a bomber to place in one theater.

      anzac:
same as italy. no buys but strategic movements to secure NOs in the 2nd round.

china: infantry as much as possible.

    • RE: Global timeline

      @17Mark71:

Yes I know the rest of them surrendered, but if the Germans haven’t invaded France yet then Dunkirk hasn’t happened yet……right?

look, dunkirk is some 10 or 20 kilometers from belgium. no real distance, though. ;)

and: IT IS JUST A GAME! :D (a really good one!)

    • RE: German Subs

lots of sub help stalling an american progress, this for sure. but it is hard to find best positions on the map where you can “hide” yourself from destroyers etc. and counterattack later on.

      but it helps.

maybe next time i will spend the french money on mostly subs and bombers. maybe like this: G1 3 subs, 1 bomber, G2 (63 IPCs) 6 subs, 2 bombers. so one can have up to 10 subs and 4 bombers as germany. after that planes and infantry…etc.

      any ideas about it?

    • RE: Sealion Version 1.0

what about the british part of the game?

if they launch an attack on your blocking destroyer, the US can easily march through your “blockade”, because there is no one more left.

so you need help from germany in any way. without it, you cannot resist a well-planed amphibious assault.

“1-2-punch” is the magic word behind it. (it works for the allies, as for the axis)

    • RE: Ideal Fortress Europe

and with mech-infantry it is quite comfortable even from germany. therefrom you can help out even in southern italy, if there is no allied obstacle in the way. ;)
this way you can cover mostly the whole of continental europe (except russian territories).

    • RE: How do you win with the Allies?

and even if uk gets occupied by the axis it is well possible for the US to win this game, though russia has to defend well and the Uk is still part of the axis-empire. as US i managed in one game to have 10 transports ready in round 7 to start an invasion from gibraltar with good odds of taking the uk, italy, france or even germany.

    • RE: Northern Italy.. AXIS Weak point in Europe?

well, I thought that a factory gets downgraded only in A&A global during capture. is that true?

    • RE: Sealion Version 1.0

yeah, i saw that too. the factory in n.italy got bombed to 12 damage-points. and my idea has been, to go to s.italy, although there were plenty italian troops in n.italy (near 15 inf etc.). just for taking away one round of cash (20 ipc) from italy. germany would have had to protect italy as well, which means that a landing in britain after that could have been more attractive.

      what do you think?

    • RE: Please comment this game

so you see no chance for the axis to win?

i think, the japanese airpower is still a real threat to the us navy. second, small numbers of transport available or nearby to start landing operations for the usa.

in europe, i agree mostly, but i see a big defensive potential in germany. it could stall a lot, couldn´t it?

greetings and thanx for the answer.

last year, harr harr, on december 29th me and my friends set up a game (G40). we only completed 4 rounds of play in 10 (!) hours…ouch! :D

but i would like to see some somments about the game.
i played the US. but see for yourself and post some critics or strategies for the axis or allies to win this game. i would apreciate it.

no, only in northern africa. italy has been defeated in egypt. big lucky moment in this very game, so germany had to go fully for russia and got threatened in w.germany…so… :-D
