While Combat is considered simultaneous Combat Movement is not.

While you answered the scenario correctly, only the quoted sentence is not correct.
Page 12 Pacific 1940.2 rulebook says: “All combat movement is considered to take place at the same time.”
Here the submarines move from seazone A to C at the same time as the rest of the fleet moves from seazone A to B.

Than you Panther for pointing that out. Then perhaps I have been misusing a scenario. I will open a new thread not to hijack this one.

Pretty sure the Calc on this site and the TripleA Calc let you tweak the OOL. I forget how the TripleA one works but the Calc on this site has two text bars below the fields where you input unit quantities. One is for attacker OOL, the other is for defender OOL.

So a follow up question on this topic that we have debated in our games.

If you have a carrier carrying two fighters along with two fighters on land, in range of your sea zone battle, can the two fighters from your carrier land safely elsewhere(non-combat movement) while the two fighters from land end up on the carrier? A Swaperoo if you will. Is that legal?

      Yes

Swapping fighters is a key battle tactic for success. So is utilizing additional carriers, as you can move a carrier 2-3 spaces away to pick up those fighters (but in truth intend not to do so because the fighters will be the first losses).

This gets more airforce in a battle than you otherwise would be allowed. As an example, you could do the Taranto raid, not bring in the carrier, take the london fighter as a loss, and then move the carrier through the canal.

Disastrous turn 1 for Italy. Is there a point in continuing?

      Arthur Bomber HarrisA

I would wipe out the remaining Allied fleet on G2. Chances are that you lose 2 of of your planes which isn’t great but is very manageable. If you get totally diced and lose 4 or 5 German planes, it might be a sign that the dice gods are against you and you might want to restart.

You are a tad bit behind a “normal” opening, but if you still have that bomber and some fast movers, Italy can clear the way into Russian territory. Just make sure that Rome is not lost and you have done your job. Germany can eventually capture Greece without much loss. The game will go on. It is easy to make up the lost ground if the Allies make any small mistake like miscalculating a fleet battle in the Pacific.

The only times that I restart early game is if I get totally diced in France and lose all of my German fast movers that are so necessary to pressure Russia later on. Hard to recover from that swing.
