I assumed the dice would be normal D-6 with a symbol instead of the 6 pips.

Zombies look to be static and movement is card driven. Otherwise it would be more of a world against zombies game.

I don’t know if zombies will be a 1 to 1 replacement in battle though.
There are only 30 zombie minis. I guess they will be chipped up high on the Russian front.

yeah, it seems zombies can be easily removed from the game.
Now, if the map is bigger than 41, we have a “new” 41 intro game with higher income and more pieces.

    • RE: AAZ details revealed (May 21 2018)

Anniversary was just printed last fall, so it would be still fresh in the factory.

The others were a few years before that.
I don’t know if molds are kept or discarded after a certain time.

Using previous sculpts/models to make new molds would be easy enough for new games but AAZ is so close after AAA that they might just run the same molds for the new game.
Cutting costs on production as well.

well, Anniversary was the last game printed so making more minis from the same sculpt makes economic sense.

I imagine keeping the costs down  and retail price low was an important factor for this game.

The zombie map might be a good replacement for the 41 map if the size is right.

The extra IPC territories would be a welcome change.

Agreed, Highlander had such promise but was ruined by the sequels.

This movie is a must do remake IMHO.

A lot of sci-fi borrows from or appropriates history. This is nothing new in that sense.
From what I’ve read, the zombies don’t fight for one side so much as occupy a territory
which has seen a lot of casualties.

This is just a fantasy version of A&A not a upgrade of the core series. WOTC have been trying to cash in on A&A brand for a while. The “collectable” minis used the A&A brand and they had less to do with the game.

I really don’t understand why people are leaving because of things like this WOTC are doing.
It’s not as if they are forcing you to buy and play this game.
From what I’ve read, a lot of you have countless hours of fun playing A&A with your own house rules.
How has a new game announcement changed this?
Larry has left A&A, so unless the community comes up with a new version/rule set/map/etc, I think it is safe to say A&A is in its final edition.
This is fine too as it is a fun and great game to play with friends.

I’m just sad that the battle series didn’t take off. I really enjoy D-Day and Battle of the Bulge.
Kursk or Stalingrad would have been awesome.

All war and military games “disrespect” veterans to varying degrees. (meat shields/canon fodder/cheap to buy for defence/…)
It is players who do the disrespecting through play.
A lot of games have introduced zombies into historical context. It is a fad which will continue until the next great fad comes along.

Quitting A&A because of a new game is the wrong approach.
Not buying this game or future games by WOTC is the correct way.
You have already bought the games, so WOTC has been supported.
Now, not buying this will send a better message and not come across as a knee-jerk reaction of an upset person.

On the bright side, WOTC IS including money with this game so maybe they are listening to one of the biggest gripes people have with the A&A line.

That is true of all software. :-D

I am using CS6 of Illustrator and PS but stopped upgrading the MacOS at OSX.12.

PS is buggy now and I’ve switched to Affinity Photo now.
Affinity is a direct reaction to the highway robbery of Adobe.
Quark has upped its game as well to compete with Indesign.

Still only playing with Designer as I work faster in Illustrator. ( started back in 1992)

All in all, Affinity will replace Adobe in the future. It just needs the time to integrate new features.
Like Adobe did throughout the 90’s and very early 00’s.

Adobe stopped major feature rich updates and lost revenue so they switched to “leasing” and forced people to upgrade/pay.

      Glad it worked out.

Balancing things visually is hard to do as item weight often defies centring logic.

After all the time spent creating this, it’s good to have it perfect before you print.

nowhere man, nothing in your post even remotely hinted at it being a joke.
Next time try adding a smiley face. :-D

more than a pixel, more like 1/16" off.

If you are involved in graphics, it is glaring. If you are just a hobby only person, not so much.

When something is off in your line of work, I’m sure it jumps out at you too.
Best to read and try to understand rather than resorting to ridicule, you might go farther in life.

could be an optical rather than a physical imbalance with the 4.

The tension points between the end of northern and the top of the 4 could be doing it.
I’ve often altered/uncentred designs because of this effect. For some, its like fingers on a chalk board.  :-D

after importing it into Illustrator, I found the 4 is off. It is too far right within the circle. This is what is throwing me off.

    • RE: Map for Guadalcanal?

      Sadly no.

Resolution is set when creating the image.

It can only be reduced after through loss of data/detail/resolution.

You can’t add more detail in after the fact as it has to come from somewhere.

This is why vector maps are superior to raster maps. Vector is scalable without loss of detail.
raster has a set limit when enlarging before it pixelates.

    • RE: Pacific Allies should always attack Japan turn 2

I suppose it comes down to wanting to be offensive or defensive as the Allies.

If you don’t attack, Japan will dictate where you have to move/be.

If you attack, Japan will have to play by your game and react to your moves.

It is a good way to test Allied strategies as Japan can’t ignore the Allies in the Pacific.
It must engage them if they are aggressive or lose troops/income (which it can’t afford to lose).

I like the moved Northern Italy. The number 4 could be nudged right a bit as it doesn’t quite look centred on the text.
The roundel I would leave in its original position. I don’t believe in keeping everything centred at the cost of the overall look.

Agreed, but there were some good battles in the middle east and Napoleon did take troops from there to add to his army.

There were minor battles happening all over the world between Britain and France during N’s reign though.
It would have made ships more of a factor too by making them into transports.

Now, while Bonaparte crowned himself Emperor in 1805, there were 8 years of war previous which France was engaged in.
Napoleon started as an artillery officer and worked his way up before seeing his chance to seize power.
He was not well respected and often feared during this time too. Hence the reason they sent him to Egypt.

I feel adding more map/areas, like in later A&A games, adds more options and enhances re-playability.
If sticking with Europe only, adding more areas would also work.

      Just my take on it.

I wish they had expanded the map more though.
Caribbean and the far east were points of conflict, not to menton Egypt and the middle east and Ottoman empire.
Tilst edition Napoleon Risk has a better map.
