Again, I’m looking for:
- '42.2 “new” chips
- '41 “paper” chips
- Japan control markers from '40.2
I have to trade:
- '40.2 “old” chips
- painted P-40
Again, I’m looking for:
I have to trade:
Would anyone be interested in a trade? I’ll give up all my Europe and Pacific 1940 2nd Edition stacking chips in exchange for anyone’s 1942 2nd Edition chips, and any 1941 chips you don’t need. I use the '41 chips as damage markers. I’d also be interested in anyone’s Japanese control markers from A&A Pacific 1940 2nd Edition.
We can either trade in-person or I’ll send you the chips in the mail.
If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, I’ll send you one of my Chinese Flying Tiger P-40s, should the price be right.
Thank you robbie358 for the picture,
They effectively look nice.
Would have tell that sooner, but i’m a new dad now!
Was at the hospital since last Fryday,
She weight 8 pound, 20 inch long!
Congratulations!!!
This is what I did for the Chinese fighter in either game.
Sorry it’s a bit dirty, but these were meant to be played with.
I pulled a P-40 Warhawk out of the Axis & Allies 1941 box, primed it and painted it as close to this as possible…
Hello all. I thought I would solicit your thoughts on which types of pieces in any version of A&A scream for painting the most.
IMHO, the most confusing piece on the board in the original Pacific and Pacific 1940 is the USA fighter in China. Having to differentiate between a Chinese fighter that looks American and any USA fighters in that zone seems like a headache waiting to happen.
Otherwise, I would say the pro-Axis and pro-Allies neutrals in Europe 1940 need attention. The fact is that upon being attacked, you’re supposed to pick any random country to donate an infantry to that territory. If the attacker doesn’t win, the infantry stay there but cannot be moved. Seems like confusion might set in eventually.
Your thoughts?
What are those chips you are talking about, what did they had?
Allow me to explain my complaint. Almost every Axis & Allies game ever made comes with a version of stacking chips that I call the “old” chips.
Axis & Allies 1942 Second Edition comes with a “new” type of stacking chip.
Observe.
The “new” chips in A&A 1942 2nd. Ed.
The “old” chips that come with the brand new A&A 1940 2nd Ed.
Dime added for sizing purposes, not included with the game.
As you can see, the “new” chips are of a higher quality IMO. They are easier to count when stacked and smaller in diameter, leaving more room on the board. They are also stamped with the fancy “Axis & Allies” logo.
I expected that the “new” chips were the standard to be released with all new versions of A&A, but was disappointed when I found the “old” chips included in the latest game.
I hope that clears it up.
There outta be a thread for things like that.
Nah, the game kinda loses a bit of its luster playing without the pieces. Besides, I get enough in-person play from the guys around here anyways.
My mission is to have the most baller A&A set in the known universe. I’ll have to post pictures sometime.
Really? Wow, public opinion is against me here.
No, I don’t play online. Only in person with my nice new set.
200th post!!!
@Imperious:
Give Russia 1-2 free Infantry per turn ( placed in Moscow or Archangel)
This would represent lend lease.
Good idea. Or maybe a USSR-Japan non-aggression pact. I’d like to see some errata from Wizards on this game.
I still don’t understand why they couldn’t just put it on there. I just picked up my 2nd edition and no Italy…
Damn,
So russia still gets +3 for 0 ipc african axis territory.
Allies are still on the ropes in this one. I haven’t seen them win an Alpha +3 game, and looks like the same situation here.
I like and was expecting the '42.2 chips in this set. Why would they make the new chips and not include them in all new A&A games? Prolly due to whiners like you guys.
The new chips were a vast improvement. I’m sorry to see Wizards can’t move forward.
Hello all.
The stacking chips that come with the new '40.2 games are indeed NOT the same chips that came with the '42.2 game as has been previously reported on this site. They are in fact the same chips that come with the original '40 games, only with a few green-colored ones.
Those of us hoping for the new '42.2 chips will be disappointed, not only with Wizards for giving us the cheapo stacking chips, but with others on this board that have preview copies and did not warn us of this.
I recommend a petition be started to demand that Wizards provide us with the proper chips.
@wittmann:
Thanks Gamerman and Robbie.
Remind me;Â what do you mean: Russia gets the 9?
Glad Pacific War bonus has been clarified.
Check the USSR NOs for Europe '40.2. It’s there.
Apparently a change in '40.2 is that China can’t roll for tech.
What gives with that?
I wanna turn that Flying Tiger into a Range 5 Attack 4 beast, baby!
I’ll take Advanced Artillery and War Bonds while I’m at it, please.
Since today is the day, some questions…
1. Is the -1 Brit inf from Global a mistake???
2. What are the Global NOs and the Euro/Pac NOs??? In detail from the box of those who have it.
3. More details on the changes between Alpha+3 and 2nd Edition???
1. No, it’s not a mistake. It’s in the rules:
“Set up units as shown on the setup charts found in Pacific 1940 and Europe 1940. Additionally, place the following units:
Amur: 6 Soviet Infantry
Sakha: 6 Soviet Infantry and 2 Soviet AAA
Buryatia: 6 Soviet Infantry
Egypt: 2 ANZAC Infantry (also, remove 1 United Kingdom infantry)”
Don’t ask me why “infantry” is capitalized everywhere except when referring to the UK guy, but there you have it.
2. See my thread for the NOs
3. Canada is no longer 2 spaces on the Pacific map. BC and Yukon have merged into “Western Canada”. Also, if the USSR attacks Korea, Mongolia will never activate for them. I’ll look for more changes this evening.
