RE: Real Fuzzy Mathposted in General Discussion
How about instead of listing an entire library of resources you could think about just listing one source supporting your argument?

You’re probably giving him those funny American $20s. What good are those to him?

I have a better suggestion - slip Frood a $20 and see if the dice gods at frood.net smile on you after that

Yes, unless EE cannot be defended properly against a kitchen sink allied attack (large allied navy). The southern route is a way around that and still march reinforcements to the frontlines.

Real Fuzzy Mathposted in General Discussion
Neutral to most people is better then negative, and thus is good. Even the number ZERO is considered a positive number (which is why there is not a negative sign on it.) And before anyone speaks, yes, there is such a thing as -0. It is approaching zero from the left (ie as the negative numbers increase in value towards zero.)
Sigh Why do I let myself get sucked into this?
Actually, zero is neither a negative or a positive number.
http://mathforum.org/library/drmath/view/58735.htmlThis is technically off topic. I could list an entire library of sources that go into how zero really does have polarity. But I’ll sum it up pretty and pink: The link you refrence is a blogger who is attempting to assist grammer and secondary school students and thus, dumbs down the responses to their level. However, in more esoteric mathematics, you find out that zero really does have a polarity but +0 is equal to -0. The difference comes into play when you are trying to denote from which direction you are comming from. It may seem trivial, but the square root of negative one seemed trivial at one time as well. As did the acceleration due to gravity constant, the speed of light, and all other mathematical break throughs.
Anyway, long, LONG story short, zero has polarity. But in fundamanetal mathematics, it’s unneeded and thus, you are told that there is no need to denote the polarity. After all, at your level of mathematics (you= plural) a zero is a zero. If you are dividing by it, you have n assymptote. If you are multiplying by it, you have negated the coefficients and products of that zero.

RE: Suggestions for MapViewposted in TripleA Support
I’ve had no end of problems in TripleA telling apart UK units from USA units (my colour-blindness). What’s worked very well for me is superimposing a very small nationality emblem on each unit type so you can easily tell a UK bomber from a USA bomber by the emblem. Haven’t checked out the new Mapview map so I don’t know if this is an issue for you though.

RE: UK1 Battleship?posted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
Yeah, I think Jen is talking about fighting both battles in the same turn (sea and land). The problem with this as she mentions is no BB support shot for the amphib invasion, but also some fighters/bombers might need to be diverted from the amphib assault to ensure the sea battle is won. The allied fleet typically does much better defensively than it does offensively, and may need the added air support to clear out the baltic fleet.

RE: German navyposted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
Russia remains strong in this scenario, as German infantry and artillery are slow to reach the front. However, since eight German infantry have been produced, Germany can reliably start pressing into Russian territory around the fourth turn. (German infantry produced in Germany on the first German turn can move to Eastern Europe on the second turn, Belorussia or Karelia or Balkans on the third turn, and Archangel, West Russia, or Ukraine on the third turn).
Should read German infantry produced in Germany on the first German turn can move to Eastern Europe or Balkans on the second turn, Karelia or Belorussia or Ukraine on the third turn, and Archangel, West Russia, or Caucasus on the fourth turn.

I think he was talking about trading 2 IPC territories with Japan (Novisibirsk and Kazakh)

RE: German Buildsposted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
My concern with having equal numbers of attacking and fodder pieces (ie 5 each in Jen’s ratio) is that your fodder is first to go, and you end up exposing your offensive pieces to counterattack. I suppose it depends as much on your style of play (and your opponents) as anything else (ie. how aggressive are you, do you prefer to strafe or take, etc). For me I think I prefer to have a few more fodder pieces if possible - 3-1-1 or 4-1-1 probably, or maybe 4-1.5-1 (ie. 8/3/2). I think it’s pretty easy to “math it to death”.

RE: UK1 Battleship?posted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
Don’t forget about landing in Germany proper. With the German med fleet gone, potential landing zones become:
WEU
GER
EE
KAR
NOR
ARC
and possibly SEU if you have a 2nd fleet in sz12. Can Germany protect all of these territories from landings? Can Germany even deadzone all of these territories from landings? They might have to hole up in GER/SEU to protect everything, in which case they have handed you KAR, BEL, UKR. -
RE: Engalnd: 2 bomber buy?posted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
They are nerfed in LHTR, but they still do better than regular bombers. I’d still make sure I was extra aware of how many bombers my opponent had if they had this Technology:
Average IPC damage with regular bombers: 3.5IPC
Average IPC damage with heavy bombers: 5.5IPCChance of hitting with regular bombers on attack: 66.7%
Chance of hitting with heavy bombers on attack: 88.9% -
RE: German Buildsposted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
One problem I have with NPB’s analysis:
This is a thread about german builds, with earlier posts regarding specifically G1, G2, G3 builds. Good analysis on Russian builds, but of limited us here.

Have you tried this 2 IC strat after a GER1 baltic fleet build? Including transports?

RE: Africa, should you buy an IC?posted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
I have seen both Japan and UK build an IC in Africa. I think it more likely successful for Japan (in Egypt). Japan will usually own Tr-J (so have free passage through the suez) and have much of it’s navy near sz34, so defending this complex is not difficult. If the allies are landing in ALG then this supplements the troops that Japan can shuttle over using transports. If the allies leave Africa alone this complex can still be used to add to the japanese navy in sz34 or to produce ground troops to walk to Persia from there.
