    • WTS Sealed NIB Nova Games Axis & Allies + French/Chinese Expansion

(Posting it in this forum as it was the original A&A global game, and does not have it’s own forum. Posting this in the “variants” section would be an insult to the patriarch).

It is time for a dear old friend to go - I am selling my treasured sealed NIB copy of Larry Harris’ first masterpiece, the game that spawned all future Axis & Allies games:

**NOVA GAMES AXIS & ALLIES!!!  **

It is sealed, will be shipped in a protected, padded box, and I will include the French/Chinese counter set that was printed and NEVER RELEASED - that’s right, Larry had them in the game way back in 1981.

I’m setting the price at $150 USD, with $20 Shipping in the US - I will ship internationally, you pay actual cost of shipping. This probably won’t last more than a day - so jump on it!

As someone who works in the investments/finance industry, this is capitalism at it’s finest: a win for all.

Value was created by deathshead, capital was added by coachofmany, and lower prices are the result.

I agree with Coach - he is not selling anything other than the printed copies of the map, and cheaper than we can make them.

As the originator of this idea…

I have strong reservations as to “claiming” battles. The A&A community has always had expansions/house rules that overlap (see how many 1939 games there are). Go ahead and make as many games as you want, but know that you really have no claim to exclusivity, and that others will probably use your maps/rules to make better or different games.

      Just a thought.

I like it too - but it would only be accurate for use as an internal Spanish/Nationalist flag during the Civil war (36-39) by the time of the other hostilities the red/yellow/red flag was used.

I have a simple fix for all of this - I’ll post it here later.

And the Confederacy tried to get international recognition, and almost succeeded in doing so from Britain and France.

My point is that the flag can be used without any confusion, as during the civil war it represents the Nationalists, and during all other times it represents Spain.

      Quite simple, really.

      Well…

Go back to the thread “Axis & Allies Travel Game?” and read what I wrote. That was the post that spawned the genre.

    • RE: Axis and Allies Express Series

The general idea is that “Express” level games be an introduction to the Axis & Allies genre.

I would recommend that special rules be kept to a bare minimum, and unit costs/attack/move values be kept identical to the 1940 series.

In a lot of these Express games, reinforcement cards rather than building units will be utilized.

I’m glad to see that a genre has sprung up around a germ of an idea. I’ll be glad to help with any maps that people need.

Franco considered the Nationalists as the continuation of the kingdom.

So Republicans = Confederacy (new flag)

And Nationalists = Union (Same flag before, during, and after war)

There is no confusion - an exact parallel is the US civil war. The north (union) used the US flag before, during, and after the civil war.

I really really wanted a Panzer III as well.

We already have a heavy tank in the OOB set, and for those who want FMG pieces to “replace” and not supplement, we have the Tiger.

Croesus, a better alternative would be lime green UK units from A&A Revised. Get them from coachofmany’s site: www.historicalboardgaming.com

They are a near perfect match.

No idea - these pictures were taken several months before Alpha 2 (or Alpha 1 for that matter) came out.

Stop! It does matter! Only the “blue” set comes with those pieces.

Reinforcement cards are the way to go in a game like this - remove the economic equation completely.

The only color change since 2004 has been shading the Germans from a grayish black to a true black.

Bulge/1942/1940 editions all have Germany in true black.

      Jeremy,

They have used the same colors since 2004. That is 7 years of consistency, and the vast majority of the current product in the market uses the same base colors.

All of the below use the same colors for each power. The inconsistency came about from 1999-2003, as WotC/AH was moving away from the 1984 edition colors and it took a while to standardize. Since then, the colors have remained consistent.

      Axis & Allies 1942
      Axis & Allies Europe 1940
      Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
      Axis & Allies Anniversary
Axis & Allies Battle of the Bulge
      Axis & Allies Guadalcanal

I am a piece junkie, and I admit it - I have probably 10,000 Axis & Allies pieces in total. I have every color version that has come out, including lime green UK pieces. However, I realise that the colors have been stable, and will be stable, since 2004.
