      I dont know how I could have done so, but i guess I have a good imagination. But I’m sure that it is something I have read somewhere :)

    • Changes from OOB to Alpha +.2

      As i mentioned in another topic, I would make a list of all the setup changes from OOB to Alpha +.2 for the Europe 1940 game.

      I will appreciate if you mention any mistakes I’ve made :)

      Here it is:

      Changes made by the Alpha +.2 modifications to Axis and Allies Europe 1940

      Turnorder:

      USA moves up before UK, so you get:

      1. Germany
      2. Soviet Union
      3. United States
      4. United Kingdom
      5. Italy
      6. France

      National Setup by Country:

      Germany:

      Germany’s changes are in total:

      +7 Infantry
      +1 Artillery
      +2 Tactical bombers
      -1 Minor IC
      +1 Major IC (Minor IC gets upgraded)

      So it ends up being like this(the red is the changes from OOB made by Alpha +.2):

      Holland/Belgium: 4 Infantry, 2(+1) Artillery, 3 tanks, 1 Fighter

      When Germany is at War with the Soviet Union
      2. Collect 5 IPCs per turn for EACH of the following territories, Novgorod (Leningrad), Volgograd (Stalingrad), and/or Russia (Moscow) controlled by the Axis. Theme: High strategic and propaganda value.
      3. Collect 5 IPCs per turn if Germany controls Caucasus. Theme: Access and control of vital Russian Oil production.

      When Germany is at War with the Allies
      4. Collect 5 IPCs per turn if there is at least one German land unit in an Axis controlled Egypt. Theme: Gateway to the Middle-East Oil fields (high propaganda value).
      5. Collect 5 IPC per turn if Germany controls both Denmark and Norway while Sweden is not pro-Allies or Allied-controlled. Theme: Access to Iron Ore and other strategic resources.
      6. Collect 5 IPCs per turn that Germany controls the United Kingdom. Theme: High national prestige.
      7. Collect 2 IPCs per turn for each of the following three territories that Germany controls: Iraq, Persia and Northwest Persia. Theme: Access to strategic oil reserves.

      Soviet Union
      When the Soviet Union is at War in Europe
      1. Collect 3 IPCs per turn for each original German territory the Soviet Union controls. Theme: Propaganda value.
      2. Collect 5 IPCs if the convoy in sea zone 125 is free of Axis Warships. Archangel is controlled by the Soviet Union, and there are no units belonging to any other Allied powers present in any territories originally controlled by the Soviet Union. Theme: National prestige and access to Allied lend lease material.
      3. Collect 10 IPCs, once, for Soviet capture of Berlin (Germany). Theme: National prestige.

      United Kingdom
      When the United Kingdom is at War with Germany/Italy
      1. Collect 5 IPCs per turn if there are no German submarines on the Europe map with the following exceptions: The Baltic Sea (113 -114 -115). The Black Sea (100) and of course the Caspian Sea. Theme: Being an island nation the UK gains a strategic advantage with low German submarine activities directed against its merchant fleet.
      2. Collect 5 IPCs per turn if the United Kingdom controls all of its original territories in North America, Africa, and Europe. Theme: Maintenance of the empire considered vital national objective.

      Italy
      When Italy is at War
      1. Collect 5 IPCs per turn if Axis powers control 3 of these 4 territories: Egypt, Southern France, Greece, Gibraltar. Theme: Stated national objectives – Greater Roman empire.
      2. Collect 5 IPCs per turn if there are no Allied surface warships in the Mediterranean Sea (sea zones 92 through 99). Theme: Propaganda and strategic advantage.
      3. Collect 5 IPCs if Axis powers control all of the following North African territories:
      Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Tobruk, Alexandria. Theme: Stated North African military objectives.
      4. Collect 5 IPCs per turn if Italy controls Caucasus. Theme: Access and control of vital Russian Oil production.
      5. Collect 2 IPCs per turn for each of the following three territories Italy controls: Iraq, Persia and Northwest Persia. Theme: Access to strategic oil reserves.

      United States
      When at War
      1. Collect 10 IPCs per turn for complete control of the continental US (CUS, EUS). Theme: Basic national sovereignty.
      5. Collect 5 IPCs per turn for controlling, Southern Mexico, Central America (Panama) and the West indies. Theme: Defense treaty & trade obligations.

      France
      When France is at War
      Troop Bonus: When the territory of France is liberated, for the first time only, the player controlling this territory immediately places up to 12 IPCs worth of any units on the territory of France. Theme: National liberation & national prestige.

      I just discovered, that there is many more differences to the startup, than I previous stated.

      I will update my findings in a couple of days, when I have added it all together :)

      Kriegshound, is USA really down to only getting +10 IPC when at war? (of the NO’s in alpha +.2, it is only number 1 that US can be achieved in Europe!)

      So all the changes (beside the modifications of the rules) to Europe 1940 made by the Alpha +.2 is essentially:

      9+ IPC to Russia
      +1 UK infantry in Egypt
      NO Germany: +5 while not at war with Russia
      NO Russia: +5 when at war with Germany

      Is that really all?

      So, if I’m gonna play by the Alpha +.2 in a Europe 1940 game, the above listed 4 changes and the rule changes is all?

      Damn it would be nice with a complete list, i.e. “Alpha +.2 for 1940 Europe” - no fancy graphic layout, just text explayning how to set up and play :) Really hope someone will make that. And if no one has made it, by the time I figure it out, I will make it :D But I’m making only small progress here :)

      I dont understand, why these aids dont come with the game in the first place… But then it is great, someone has the ability to make some, that looks great :D

      And bob, I just reread your first post. I beg of you to make updated charts of Europe also, besides the global charts you plan on making.

      I think we are a lot of people playing Europe / Pacific more often than we play the even more time consuming Global edition.

      I really like all these game aids. I dont understand why they doesn’t come with the game OOB.

      Really nice work!

      I have one correction:

      In Germanys NO, you have them set up for 5+ for both Volgograd and +5 for Novgorod. Kriegshound has stated, that you only get +5 for having one of them. You dont get a total of 10 for controlling both of them. (see his answer here: http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=22286.0)

      Is there any change you will make som more aids for the Europe 1940 game? I.E. Taskforce markers and battlestrip.
