Why? They aren’t at war…and the USA can’t land units in the UK so it follows that Russia shouldn’t be able to either. Ditto with moving units into China.

@WILD:
Flash, I know that Russia was a wild card, but why do you think Japan could have joined the allies. The US was really a silent partner to the UK and China in 1940. US/UK were already at odds w/Japan, and both were actively aiding China. The US had placed the embargo on Japan before France fell, then really tightened it up w/invasion of FIC. The Tripartite Pact was signed in Sept 1940, but it had to be in the works for quite some time (well before the fall of France). Even if Japan didn’t attack Pearl/Phil, at some point they would have invaded French/Dutch/UK colonies (allied tt). Maybe after the fall of England?
If Hitler would have gotten UK to sign a one way peace deal (that he thought was possible) to stop hostilities ending the allies before the US came in then yea I guess Japan would essentially be on the same side. Such a deal may have included handing over those colonies. Maybe Germany and Japan would have started a fight over control?
Japan would have had to stop grabbing islands to join the allies. But they were allies in the first world war and they got screwed…same with Italy.
4.Committing to much to the Battle of Britain/Canceled Sealion, "Oh Britain isn’t cooperating, looks to the right hey look theirs Russia!
They couldn’t pull off sealion because Britain had…
1. An intact navy defending the english channel
2. An intact airforce that would have loved to see slow moving transports moving in on its costs.
Also as has been said USA broke the code of Japan years earlier. Also even if the carriers had been left it would have just slowed the USA down a bit it would have hardly been crippling. The a-bomb still would have been ready it would have likely just been used in Germany first.
an aggressive ussr is a bad idea. germany will crush ussr if it gets aggressive too early
Not always…it depends on the Russian builds and the rest of the world’s situation. Also dice rolling of course. If America goes all out on Japan then Russia can afford to be aggressive because even if they fail they can pull back and wait 2 turns for America to come bail them out.
How far away are they at the start of the game?
Yes it is! Giving up India then a couple turns later the Aussies because America went all in on some Normandy or Norway plan is just something they are not prepared to do.
Russia has little choice. Either they fall back and turtle safely which I love or they have some give and go. Dont get me wrong, my good Russia opponent never gives up Moscow to some cheezy Italian can opener but I can usually trap things like a small Lenningrad defense force and kill them with the can opener. Last game I trapped 7inf up there.
Ya gotta understand, I am the guy who gets excited about being a pawn up in chess.
Russia has no choice? You kidding me? Russia is quite capable(depending on how long they can build and their rolling) of rolling over Germany themselves. I have seen Russia take out Germany while America crushed Japan.
How can Germany not? US cannot even attack W-Europe or Italy by US3 with anything approaching a viable force. It will take US 4 or 5 for this happen and maybe even longer if there are sufficient u-boats around.
If they pour everything into Europe they can build throw away invasion forces each turn…it totally unbalances the game. I can only figure that your not playing with skilled allied players OR they aren’t working as a team.
If the Japan player does J1 and pulls it off then by J4 they out spend the allies combined…after that its all down hill for the allies. The allies have no stratgies that work at this point and America can’t build a fleet that can’t be beaten sorry.
Wait, wait, wait. Surprise strikes are before EVERY round in a sea battle? If so, I’ve been using subs wrong the whole time I’ve played Axis and Allies.
Unless the other side has destoryers yep.
In this game especially my German strategy is starting to resemble my chess strategy. I use the threat of check, er territory loss, to create a situation where Germany can kill Allied units to with little loss of their own.
In the older, smaller games this was easy in the east since the German airforce was closer. Now I invite Brits into Normandy to be killed every turn and go north and south in Russia achieving little numerical victories killing time waiting for the Japanese to eliminate India, threaten the Aussies and bleed Russuan IPCs.
Anyone else do this? My J2 or 3 Malaysa attack and factory usually excites the Americans to spend some money in the Pacific for some reason.
Nice that the allies go along with your plans lol.
Russia building a massive airforce then sinking the home fleet of Japan(mostly) allowing the USA to pretty much walk into the Japan and take it. Btw…Russia didn’t share this plan with the other allies they just did it lol.
Seeing the crazy one off tactics that Axis players come up with to force stalemates.
How does Germany have the forces to fight Russia and hold off the USA in the west? I am confused about that Karl?
As the USA player I would just take Rome if Germany focused in France or I would Japan crush. Either way Axis loses.
I have said this before and people can bitch about it but its true…for the Axis to win they must plan out their moves and pull them off. If the axis plays as 3 players with no plans as a group they are screwed.
I have a few problems with all of this as follows…
1. As pointed out the Uk has no reason to declare on Japan…the USA player would kill the brit player if they did that. This would be a case of the allied players not talking to each other. In which case they are going to lose anyway.
2. The USA player can’t be so stupid as to disreguard threats near them, you can’t suprise them really. Again if the USA player is that stupid you don’t need weird tactics to beat them, you can beat them straight up through tactics.
Japan can win(will win) through smart playering and brute force…so not sure why you need to come up with one shot ways to win things.
I haven’t ever bought Navy as Russia…everything Russia needs to do can be done without a Navy. Given time I would pour some troops into China to slow Japan down. As for builds I build a mix of guys tanks and atrilley for the guys. And depending on the situation if Germany doesn’t attack turn 4 I would strongly consider attacking them. Also I put my guys and aterilly on the border with Germany and put my tanks one back so that I can move them up with the attack if I get to attack first but also so I don’t lose them if Germany attacks first. Honestly every turn that Germany doesn’t attack is a gift to Russia because it allows them to build up more forces which makes them tougher to take.
a lone transport and pressure from Germany i’ll post how they got they in a 1,2,3 diagram later
A really really stupid Amercian player clearly. Someone who should maybe learn to beat candyland first before trying Axis and allies.
I will now be alert for this lol.

For your AAG40-1942 scenario, I suggest this order:
USSR, Germany, UK, ANZAC, Italy, China, Japan, USA, France
Same reasons here, but I’ll add one more: Japan and USA must play consecutively, or the aussies will make can opener moves against Japan’s fleet blockers. USA has not the same problem, because it’s very rare that the west axis makes its way to the Pacific Ocean

Why would you weaken the AXIS even more by not allowing Japan to India crush? As it is the game is weighted to the Allies they need no more edges.
Will try this out…America having direct support to renforce Russia would really mess with Germany. Especially seeing as Germany would need to station troops in France to stop an allied landing anyway…troops they could otherwise use vs Russia, and then they would have to deal with the Amercian’s hitting them going west as well.
