      @hewhoisnickel:

      I’m not liking the new victory conditions for the Axis. It further takes away from the global feel of this global game. If you can win by only playing well on one side, what’s the point of having both boards out?

      Agreed. I am all in favor of making it easier for the axis to win more games but this destorys the game balance totally rather then restoring it.  I could win pretty easily controling the axis I think with only one axis power having to grab a small number of VC.

      @SgtBlitz:

      It would be nice if you could actually play the scenario where Germany and Russia remain best buds for the whole game.  It probably would actually have happened like that in real life had Hitler not been such a backstabbing treacherous douchebag.

      Not really Russia was planning on atacking Germany at some point, they just got beat too it.

      @deadbunny:

      [ You seem to not understand that the IPM also involves a sea wall defense against an allied landing. 6 turns to Moscow as you say, then America can only land once, two turns from Berlin. Build 3-4 infantry per turn in France and coupled with your air force no landing will last. That gives you room to maneuver and pressure/take Moscow. The 60-70 IPC discrepancy is helped by the Total Unit Value (TUV) that the axis start with and should be taken advantage of. I personally think the CV build first round is necessary but some of the other ideas coming out of peoples post seem non logical.

      Again what stops America from doing a Japan crush if this shapes up? Thats the big issue America is too strong and in the hands of a skilled player can win the game by doing full crushes on one side or the other.

    • RE: Italy taking France I1

      Germany takes France or you can call the game on turn 1 because the germans need the extra cash otherwise they are screwed.

    • RE: Rome by UK1

      Even if Africa falls…lets assume that Italy takes it for shits and giggles that rises their IPC per turn to around 30ish. The American forces still come and kick their asses in Italy or in Africa…once America has a foothold in Africa its over for Italy…or they go annoy Germany a lot in France or Norway.  America is still really strong thats why I think its worth the risk turn 1 for the UK. For the Axis player it wouldn’t be worth the risk at all but for the Allies they can afford to take chances if they wish.

      I have to say that I like some of the changes and not some of the others. At first I thought they were making the allies stronger(which is not needed) but I like the changes to the USA NO. I don’t think it really stops the USA from going germany first though 15 ipc isn’t a huge loss.

      True but that is still one less fully loaded transport or bomber headed to Europe.

      This is true however I don’t think its enough to make a difference IMO.

    • RE: China can become a monster

      @kcdzim:

      ???

      Chinese infantry cannot move into any territory that doesn’t have a chinese roundel with few exceptions (and they’re UK territories on the Pacific board).  Chinese can never be in Russia.

      Do I have the rule wrong then? I thought that in Global China could move troops into Russia once Russia is at war. I was assuming(the rules imply this) that all movement restrictions are waved off once the allies are all at war.

      If I am wrong I am sure that I could still find a way for China to annoy the living hell out of Japan if left alive.

    • RE: Wolves of the Sea

      If Germany spends enough money to safely battle the fact that the USA will be pumping out 5 destoryers a turn(before they go to war and a lot more fleet after they do)  and still manage to win the upcoming navel battle then they have spent so much that Russia will easily roll through Germany(again assuming average dice rolling) once they break through the first german wall. And with getting 6 per German area they take(or even 3 with the new possible upcoming changes) its all over for Germany and thus game is over. So you contain the USA fine, the USA switches to the job of draining resources from Germany in Japan allowing the other allies to move about mostly freely. Also if the Uk fleet lives or they start building off Canada they could put a giant hole in this by messing around with German subs.

    • RE: Rome by UK1

      You wouldn’t lose Africa…The axis can’t take South Africa on turn 1 and thats the only way the UK loses Africa. So idk where that idea came from.

      Also if the UK fleet surives turn 1 game is over because UK is safe enough to be untakeable and now they can annoy the hell out of Germany with fighter and bomber strikes. Plus transports every once in a while. That is forces Germany has to keep in France to prevent an invasion thus(unless Russia roles horrible or is really playing bad) Russia can easily defend long enough for the USA to get forces into the war and the game is just downhill from there.

      I would take the 40% chance(assuming I could do it) to take Rome turn 1 just to piss the Axis off and dirvirt them a turn or 2 as they can ill afford for things not to go according to plan. And if you lose its not a huge deal in the long run.

    • RE: Recovering Italy after Taranto… Can it be done?

      It still doesn’t matter the USA can build a massive fleet and either take Rome or move into Africa(I have seen both done in a single turn). Its still game once Italy falls as the USA can pour forces into Germany and even a few tanks a turn still saps German forces.

      The biggest threat of a China that is alive is them pumping troops into Russia every turn, and thats all Germany needs is more troops to kill when they invade Russia.

    • RE: The key to (killing) Russia's heart is in Nenetsia, 2.0

      I agree if Japan moves its planes away as the allied players in the P I would run all over Japan’s islands. And the allies have more then enough to do it. So America builds enough to defend itself in E and pours everything else into the treat of taking Japan. If Japan manages(somehow) to get its planes back to Japan in time then the USA lands in India and pours its troops up into Russia in a few turns(or frees China), either way it opens up a second front from the axis and causes issues a few rounds down the road. Then the USA switches back to focusing on E while using its fleet in P to keep Japan pinned at home. Japan can use its fighters to sink a USA fleet sittting off its coast but it takes them away from E and messes badly with the allied plan. Again each time they try to fly back the USA repeats its trick and threatens Japan. They can afford to do this a lot longer then Japan can. Meanwhile the USA forces in Asia get close and close to defending Russia or counter attacking Germany.

    • RE: Combining Italian navy is a bad idea

      I have never seen Germany fail to take Paris before. Take all of France yes but not Paris itself. Its just too easy they have too much stuff to push in.

      Rome is still at risk if the fleet is combined. And losing Rome on turn 1 would really suck even though Germany could take it back in a turn or 2.

      See the thing is it still doesn’t matter Germany is crushed and the game is all but over as Italy falls soon after. Then Japan can be ganged up on no matter how many ipc’s they have.

    • RE: Taranto Raid- standard???

      @Shakespeare:

      I was under the impression that it took a turn to implement a repair.  :-(

      Nevertheless, the Germans have nothing to lose except a couple of subs to stave off the sinking of that Italian fleet.

      If the subs keep firing at the dd and the cv they may sink one or the other with a little luck, even the absence of the dd may be decisive, even if the cv is saved.

      Not true Germany has to sink the UK fleet otherwise they run around and cause lots of problems. Like making their way to defend India for example

    • RE: Not seeing it

      the alpha setup in global so totally screws the axis over that after seeing it played out in a few games I refuse to play either side in the game because its too easy as an allied player and impossible(pretty much) as an axis player to win.

      I don’t belive that the people suggesting that Japan can do what they want before the US gets around to taking Japan understand the huge amount of ipc that the USA has. Even in E40 the USA has the income to make a disposeable invasion fleet EVERY TURN. In Global you can go back and forth with invasion fleets. In E40 I have hit africa one turn then Italy the next(and taken Italy as well) and I still was pumping troops pretty much every turn into africa to retake it.  America has an insane amount of IPC…two rounds of fleet building in the P will crush Japan’s fleet and pretty much kill their chances. IF America enters the war turn 1 they build for E first…for 2 turns, hit africa first then Italy/UK(depending on if Germany takes the UK) then they focus on building a fleet in the P. Either to retake Hawaii or they go pure fleet and start tracking down and killing Japan’s fleet.
      Oh and did I mention that if the med is under allied control the USA can hope its fleet from Italy right over to india?
