    • RE: Rules Q&A

      @Krieghund:

      It should say that the income from the Western United States territory increases by 40 to a total of 50 IPCs.  All other US possessions are still added onto that.  If the US still has its original territories, its income will be 57 IPCs when it goes to war.

      If Cal Moore is editing the Europe game too, please please please tell him to do a better job.
      This is a $ 100 game for christ sake.

    • RE: Neutral Territory

      @Funcioneta:

      It’s a awful rule  … just I hope that doesn’t work the same in AAE40,

      I think the rules are streamlined. It will not make sence to have different rules to neutrals in Europe and neutrals in Asia. Anyway, what happens when a neutral with several territories is attacked by a Great Power ? I guess the minor neutral dont have enough military power to counter-attack the aggressor. The neutral milits/insurgents/Homeguard just have to sit and wait in their own territory, and protect their homes. Yes, this is what actually happens.

      I love the neutrals rule.

    • RE: The Air Gap

      @Brain:

      Naval battles are definitely lacking in the European theatre of the games I have played.

      It should not be that way, because both UK, Italy and Germany start with a lot of ships.

      I suggest, that when it is your turn, dont use your planes to sink ships, but send in your fleet.
      Now that should do it.

    • Upgrading of factories

      The Rulebook page 22:
      “A minor Industrial Complex can be upgradet to a major one at a cost of 20 IPC”.

      Q: Can you place units on this territory the current turn that you are upgrading the factory ?

      You do already got a minor factory and are allowed to place 3 new units there, so if upgrading count as one unit, you may place two other units there in the same turn ? This is not totally insane, as you may place units at a bombed factory the same turn you repair and remove damage markers from this same factory. You may also repair an AirBase or NavalBase and use it in the same and current turn.

      So what its going to be, Kev ?

    • No Paratroopers ?

      We were told a long time ago, that Air Bases could send two paratroopers off to attack an enemy territory 3 spaces away. Do this special rule only apply to European Air Bases ? Because I dont find it in the Pacific Rulebook. What happened to the Paratroopers ?

    • RE: Rules Q&A

      @Shakespeare:

      If after war has started and no one has claimed Borneo, may the Brits land airplanes there?

      who gets the IPC’s of Borneo after war starts with UK?

      If ANZAC takess Borneo before the UK gets there who gets the IPC’s?  UK or Anzac?

      Who gets Borneo’s {PC’s after war starts but no one is there?

      Borneo has a UK symbol, and are UK homeland, so its pretty obvious.

    • RE: Allied Strat Ideas

      @Driel310:

      There are two territories on this board which are crucial for the game: Yunnan and Caroline. If the allies can take Yunnan and stack it and take over the Carolines it’s game over for Japan.

      I totally agree.

      To win, Japan must take and keep either:

      • India and Hawaii (most likely)
      • India and NSW (a little harder)
      • NSW and Hawaii (impossible ?)
        To take and keep USA is not very likely. And the 4 other VC are sure.

      The obvious Allied strategy must be to deny Japan any of this 3 VC’s, and to do that, they need Yunnan and Caroline.

      @Krieghund:

      This will be in the FAQ.

      …will be in the FAQ, will be in the FAQ…oh my god, stuff like this should be in the rulebook, so tell me, what have editor Cal Moore been doing last year ? Playing fantazy games ?

      edit: This is NOT a flame bait, its just the usual rant that everyone who own this game will make after they have read the poorly writen rulebook.

    • How the War is won.

      HOW THE WAR IS WON. page 6 in the rule-book

      Allied victory - Capture Japan

      Japanese victory - Gain and keep control of any 6 victory cities

      My guess is, that this edition will see very short play. Japan have an even more severe time limit than in the last A&A Pacific edition. Now Japan must set up for a main attack against either India or NSW, with a potshot at Hawaii, before T3. (Conquering USA is out of question, of course) If they dont manage this, the allied might will push them back to Japan, with no change to recover, and I guess the Japanese player will surrender long before Japan itself is attaced.

      Maybe the 25 point victory condition from last edition was better, I dont know ?

    • RE: China

      The China Rules page 9 says: each new unit can be mobilized on any chines territory, including those captured in the current turn.

      I guess they dont call it “Special rules” for no reason.

    • RE: Neutral Territory

      @Imperious:

      wow that is weird!

      If that is the rule it does not make much sence, but i guess thats how it is played.

      It makes sence to me. MONGOLIA is not any disciplined patriotic community country like the European countries, but more like different tribes living in adjacent territories. Its much like Afghanistan today, where the different tribes dont support each other, but are actually raiding and looting each other on opportunity. After Kev explained this, Razor love the neutrals even more. He barely cant wait to attack a  neutral South Sweden territory in the soon to come Europe game, and watch the swedes in Northern Sweden do nothing do help the south, he he

    • Shan State and Siam

      In this map, Shan State is adjacent to Malaya, and to sz 38 and sz 37.

      In all the other maps Siam is adjacent to Malaya. This is propebly made for playability, even if it will hurt the school pupils geogaphical skills. Razor ask why could not Siam have its real borders ?

    • RE: Neutral Territory

      The rules for neutrals on page 8 is a bit confusing to Razor (and he blame this on Cal Moore)

      The rules says Mongolia’s neutrality is violated the first time Japan attack it, and now the 6 Mongolian infantry will pop up. From that part the rules becomes confusing. The rules says, that if the Japanese attack was unsuccessful, the surviving Mongolian infantry cannot move, but must stay in their territory. So if Japan kill the 2 inf in Buiant-Uhaa, the surviving 2 inf in Olgiry cannot move ? The Mongolian infantry is not allowed to move inside its own country ? This crap rule is even worse than the Special Chines rules.

      And what if Japan kill all the Mongolian infantry, and later Uk liberates Mongolia, will then the 6 Mongolian infantry pop up once again, or are they killed one time for all ?

    • RE: Convoy quirk QUESTION

      That is correct, ksmckay, but my point was that several players may share the same convoy center, and that several players subs may share the same seazone and attack this particulare convoy. Just making the rules clear.

    • RE: Convoy quirk QUESTION

      Take the above example, and add that UK has a factory in Kwa and mobilized a destroyer in seazone 20.

      That destroyer will not cancel the Japanese sub’s convoy disruption in “Collect income Phase” ?
