    • Speed up the gameplay

Hello all Global War 1936-1945 game players. I’m working on a few modafications to speedup the gameplay and get our games done faster. Without killing all the fun!
I’ll start with a few basics we use and hope to get some input on options that you have tried. Either what works or what slows it down are fine. Who knows what we can come up with. These can be house rules or anything else that you have tried or thought about. Play test not required!

    • RE: Destroyers for Bases

This is a very interesting addition. I like where this is going!
I would however agree with GHG. That if you implement this you will need to give a similar advantage to both axis and Cominturn.

In GW36 US can’t use anyone else’s bases. Can’t scramble in London etc…
This provides a number of forward bases to the US and 4× the lend lease limit in a turn to the British. Admitted that delivery is delayed by a turn. These may need to be Torpedo boat destroyers to show they are ww1 era. With a drastically reduced cost and effective ability compared to a regular destroyer.
All expansions usually come with a bit in cost though typically at a discount of just buying the items. Say make both UK and US pay a few bucks to start the Scheme to cover most of the ship costs.

I  like this thought don’t throw it out, play test it and let us know what you think it does to Atlantic. Germany typically is out of the convoy raiding before us gets involved anyway.

    • RE: Heavy Cruisers, Batlecruisers and Pocket Battleships

We use some battle cruisers in our 1936 game. The stats work rather well, regular cruisers and battle cruisers all get purchased and have a place in our games as well as Battle ships.
      Battle(heavy) cruiser D12 cost 14 A7 D7 move 3 bombard 3 1hit
      cruiser d12 cost 12 A6 D6 move 3 bombard 2 1hit
      Battle ship d12 cost 20 A8 D8 move 2 bombard 4 2hits

I have not tried to incorporate these with d6 dice so I can’t give something definitive that works. I’m sure others have though

Panzerpenguin on utube has a digital 36 game. This may provide you with an alternative. I’ve never tried it I’m more into the table top variety

    • RE: Any WW1 global players?

Has anyone developed a ww1 setup for the 36 map or any others?
I’d like to have a go at something like that!
Some of the best games are developed by the community on here.

I’ve been waiting for a while for some of these HBG variants…

    • RE: Subjective Complaints about AAZ (Zombies are stupid thread)

I intend to buy this game.

I understand the complaints about this title. But to me it is just a board game. If you don’t like it don’t buy it. I’m buying this for a bit of variety new pieces etc. It will probably become just like the original E/P Dday Guadalcanal and just get pillaged for pieces.

I’ve already looked at the zombie rules and plan to house rule them into a type of historical plague. Similar to influenza, dysentery, spoiled rations or many others. Since this was something I have been distracted from but considering for a long time. Large casualty battle fields are likely to be a source of diseases. I just won’t use the term zombie. WW1 influenza epidemic sound familiar to anyone?

Plus my daughter isn’t interested in AnA but was interested in playing the version with the zombies… maybe this will get her interested in the franchise.

Looking for the positive rather than the ridiculous in this title. Their system may work well as an expansion for my games House Rules. At least

    • RE: Spanish Civil War - Question re: lend lease to repair facility

lend lease is one or the other. Money or in this case repairs, since you can’t send 1/2 of zero income, or a single unit of any type that the sender can build in its home country where the unit is built.

It gets weird with multiple turn build items like ships or facilities each turn you continue lend leasing the same item until it’s complete. Example: A single battle ship takes 4 turns of lend lease by italy to spain. This must be started as a lend lease, not using something already in production by Italy. And is subject to interdiction on delivery the final turn its placed at an Italian Shipyard then delivered to the receiving port. Each turn this uses all Italian capacity for lend lease to spain.

    • RE: Monroe doctrine!

With some thought this is good for USSR. They can now take out India and the middle East from British if they wish. Or many other possible causes… it opens up the game. Allies can attack Russia true but it’s a 2 way street here.

Edit: USSR may want to wait a few turns on this so its income is higher. And the US jump in income is also smaller.

    • RE: GW36 Exploit - The Rabid Bear Exploit -

Ahh I see your point. It’s possible to play that way. I’m also agreeing with your exploitation of the rules point. Usually Russia is too far, or missing the right units (transports) to get this done. But it’s possible.

I still find the idea interesting Jinx. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on strategies.

    • RE: GW36 Exploit - The Rabid Bear Exploit -

Agree with munck on this one. If Russia wants to lose or just sacrifice itself for the allies try this out. I take neutrals as Russia so the allies can’t get them. I’ll also attack Vichy so French don’t get their land back later. I don’t want France liberated fast I want it to be a slow attrition so Russia can take more land somewhere else while the other guys are distracted.

Russia is separate from the allies!!!
They only have the same enemy. It’s a 3 player game!!

    • RE: GW36 Exploit - The Monroe Doctrine Exploit -

Excellent job! This is bang on.

We discovered the Monroe’s failings in an early game. Russia sent an invasion force in advance to South America waiting till 1939 to land it. Purely for additional income for a German invasion. It was so gamey and cheesy, we house ruled out the US war option, requiring US to be at full production first.

This series is bang on! Wish something like this was around when I started to play this game.
I’ve seen them all great work! And a lot of it.

    • RE: Any Territory Name Suggestions and Thoughts?

I’m ok with regional names. So long as you get a local to confirm some of them. The embarrassment of the Canadian labels as an example. :-D Let’s avoid creating more of those.

Definitely shorten names to Haiti as per your example.
Unless you are adding in an expansion with an overlay like Croatia expansion. Don’t over do adding extra territories. The map is already very busy and Europe is tight on space already.

    • RE: WinterAdler's Customization - G40 Setup Card Deck & more

Perfect solution. I’m interested. You could then use these as a way to track income. Trading card ownership to match the map. Way faster than counting the piece covered map.

    • RE: Troops and easy identification painting the bases…

      Thanks the northman!
As for pieces counts that kinda depends on the game. Often we have enough at 9 or 10 units. Though sometimes we need more until the stacks attack. Especially for German and Russian ground units.
Special infantry depends on the strategies but most I saw was 10ish marine infantry for either Japan or US if they are spamming the islands and shipping reinforcement.  4 usually more than enough for the rest otherwise. Mountain troops are a bit more variable. Depending upon placement by enemy, area of stacks etc. 6 is usually plenty or too many.

      Japanese pieces.
We are okish with 5 each of light tanks, light carriers, motorized, med bombers, rarely get heavy bombers. Oob usually ok for most of Japan otherwise I believe.

    • RE: Partisans Expansion

      @GeneralHandGrenade:

      It looks like a really good expansion and I’m looking forward to playing it in a game when Rank Carcass gets here to the War room. I made a video for the Partisan Expansion as I will eventually for all of the others;

Nice! That really is a big game changer. Especially for CCP.

      Can’t wait GHG!
