      Yes indeed.

Going to pick up my Bulge map tomorrow, and putting this one to print.

IL, I can’t thank you enough.

I love this version more than OOB  by far, looks amazing. I appreciate the work you have done.

      I noticed two things though:

      1. French Madagascar has a SZ line running through it.

      2. The Axis & Allies logo between SZ 32 and 31 has the SZ line over top instead of underneath.

Otherwise, spelling and everything looks great! If you could get this out to me asap I would be eternally grateful.

PS. Once I have this map I will go straight to the printers, and next week I will post ALL of the maps to showcase them  :-D

      Looks beautiful,

I “like” the swastikas, makes it a unique map. Malta and the Azores are welcome. I guess Azores is controlled by whoever invades it?

Does Romania now contain a Victory City? Cool. But I think it might be misspelled, it should be Ploesti, but says Polesti.

I am 99% happy with this version.

IF it were possible, could I ask for the misspelling to be corrected AND possibly remove the units box in the Pacific? The only other “complaint” I have is the SZ border between the UK and Ireland is a darker shade of blue than the others. Same with the SZ below French Indo China.
I also noticed the SZ line going through Madagascar, and the unit box in the Pacific.

I REALLY want to put this to print, soon!

Thank you fishmoto, frimmel, and IL.

I will be picking up my 1914 map from the printers tomorrow, and I will order Bulge then.

      :)

Only reason I asked about OOB was to compare the size, not to print OOB. Sorry for the confusion.

    • RE: 6.1 RULE CLARIFICATIONS DATABASE

Take your time, hash the rules out well. Get that eastern front balanced :)

I will be playing my second game with my group next week. I’ll be going with most of your house rules.

I’m going to put air transports into the game, as bombers should be used to bomb imo.

Perhaps, like escort carriers, there could be more “optional” units added into the rules? Air transports and SP artillery are the only ones that appeal to me personally.

      frimmel,

You are right, but the thing about Bulge is using those hex pieces that make the front line. Otherwise size would not be an issue.

Sadly, I sold my copy of BOB years ago, and I don’t have access to a board atm. I will buy my friend’s copy once I have this map. But I need to print this out soon! I’m in a different city.

If you could literally physically measure out the board, that would be awesome. Exact hex size would be helpful too. I have tried googling this to no avail.

Time is a bit of a factor for me.

      Thanks!

      IL,

I think you might be mistaken. The pics I posted above I got from BGG to show which AA50 map I want.

      I don’t have this printed… yet!

      That’s where you come in.

Do you have the map shown above?

I don’t need a file. I need to know the exact size of the board in real life so I can print it out correctly.

Can anyone tell me what the map dimensions are for IL’s BOB variant map are?

Also, what are the OOB map dimensions? I can’t for the life of me find it anywhere. I also don’t own Bulge anymore, I will buy a friend’s copy, but I want to print IL’s variant map and I need to know how large to do it.

      Thanks!

The print shop guy I deal with is good. I got Global 1940 printed on the exact same vinyl and to the same size as Global War 1939 so they will fit perfectly on the same table.

Thanks again for sending more files. The first one is an .ai file? Which program opens this?

I like most of what I see in these files, but I could do without the icons, convoys and the unit box thing in the Pacific.

      Do you have THIS file:

If so, THIS is the one I want to print. I could do without the units box below the East Indies, but otherwise LOVE it. :)

I hate to keep bugging you, but I really want to send a AA50 map to print, and as I’m sure you can understand, it’s not cheap, so I want the map to be perfect.

      Thank you very much IL.

I will be go to the print shop today with the file.

But, I must also harass you for a few more things:

I want to print your Bulge variant. I have the file, but I need to know the EXACT dimensions that you use (I can’t find out what the normal dimensions are either). I know on the BOB thread you say it’s like 25% larger or something, and that the front line hex pieces fit pretty close, but not exactly. I am fine with that, I prefer more space for pieces anyways. Please let me know asap, the guy at the print shop will give me a better deal if I print more maps.

Also, any word on the AA50 map file from the pic I posted from BGG above? I don’t know if you have several versions of AA50 around or what, but if so please post them!

      :)

Then why is Belgium blue, and Romania red, etc etc? And why are the Portuguese territories blue on the OOB map?

It’s just that for new players it will cause confusion, plus I will always know…

Any word on the other AA50 map and Bulge?

      Love it IL,

I do appreciate your time and effort, BUT my only nitpick with it is still the color of Portugal and Portuguese East Africa. They should be French blue, correct?

I really want to print this map large on vinyl, but it would be nice for consistency and also to reduce confusion with newer players  especially if those territories could be fixed.

      Don’t mean to sound ungrateful!!!

      Thanks :)

      Do you have links?

Your map files thread only has two versions of 1942, aa50 supreme, and Europe 39.

A new Bulge would also be cool.

Can you post these files here please?

I have seen this on BGG, and it refers that you created it, but I cannot find it.

      IL,

I know you’re a busy guy, but like pitsbrgparatrpr said, any luck yet? :)

Only reason I am pushing is cuz I have a limited time window to print the map to vinyl. Would be most appreciated if you could get a cleaned up version out soon. Thanks!

PS. I got a Global 1940 map printed today, and man is it beautiful. Same exact dimensions as the large Global War HBG map, on vinyl, very rich color, roughly 46’ x 96". I want to print my other favorite maps if possible.

I have asked you about an AA50 map, but I was curious if you have any other versions? I see your supreme map, which is very nice, but it kinda doesn’t do it for me. I have seen another version on BGG that is different than OOB. Do you have that one still? Or better yet, do you have a plain standard OOB 1941 version of AA50?

Again, time is a bit of a factor for me.

      Thanks!

      Much appreciated IL,

The sooner the better please  :-)

Oh, and one more thing. I am interested in printing an AA50 map. Is there a file of the original map without any modifications? I kind of like the map as is OOB, just want to blow it up onto one sheet of vinyl.

      Thanks!!!

I noticed the same things as pitsbrgparatrpr, and agree with everything he said.

Also, shouldn’t Portugal and Portuguese East Africa should be colored in blue just like Belgium and Belgian Congo?

Would love an updated file so I can print this soon!

      Thanks

    • RE: 6.1 RULE CLARIFICATIONS DATABASE

Thank you Tigerman for the prompt reply.

A couple of questions I would like to expand on:

      9. If Partisans do not occupy the Axis controlled territory, this means that the Axis can simply ignore them, could land planes there or move units into or through the territory, yes? As long as an Axis unit is in the territory containing the partisan, the Axis can choose to attack or not attack it at their leisure?

      19. If Germany captures Denmark, does that mean that Iceland and Greenland become German, or do they become Pro Allied territories? If UK takes Crete, but not Greece, only the territory of Crete is activated, right?

      21. I guess my main question regarding naval retreats is that it appears to be a loophole that could extend the movement range of ships.
eg. Say 5 subs start in a SZ containing a naval base, they move 3 spaces into a SZ containing 1 destroyer, the destroyer detects 1 sub which stays to fight, the other 4 subs not only do not get screened but decide to “retreat” 1 space further, not back to a space from which they came. This is legal? The “retreating” subs have now moved 4 spaces. This seems like a loophole that could be abused. Could this retreat rule also be used in battles regarding surface ships?

      23. Argentina, being a Minor Axis, must have it’s capital territory activated by Germany to collect income etc? If Germany land units in Santa Cruz, only that territory is “activated”, not all of the rest, correct?

      Another question:
      24. CONDUCTING COMBAT, happens in the order of SBRs, Amphib Assualts, General Combat.
If I understand this correctly, let’s say a big naval battle is about to occur involving air units and the defender is in a SZ with a friendly naval base. The attacker can chose to attempt a SBR against the naval base to knock it out and thus prevent any AA from it being used in the following naval battle, correct?

When can we expect to see an updated rule book?  :-) Are some of Garg’s house rules going to be considered?

      Much appreciated.
