    • RE: Digital Axis & Allies D-Day map

IL I really like the DDay map file here, but is it possible to get it in a higher resolution? Is it your map?
Also, names of all the towns would be awesome!
I know I’ve bugged you before about editing maps and you’ve come through, any way you could help me out here. I really want a DDay map because I want to turn it into a D12 game with specialized units. A bigger better map than the OOB would be amazing!

I tried to order DDay at my hobby store but it’s out of print. I sadly sold my copy years ago. I would prefer an enlarged vinyl printed map anyway. Any way to get this file in a more updated HD form?

The Axis control 7 victory cities on the Europe map

YG, I have to say I don’t think this VT is balanced as Germany typically goes Moscow first before Stalingrad and by doing so with only 7 VCs needed they automatically bag two VTs at once, assuming Cairo is in Axis hands which it could easily be. I think it should be 8 like before.

    • RE: Grasshopper's UK Pacific Nation

      Hi YG,

First off I want to say thank you for ALL of the videos you have made on your YT channel. While I am a very experienced player I still enjoyed watching your strategy videos for all the nations, solid info in there.

I have been on a G40 blitz with my group lately, it is our favorite board for sure. I even have it printed on vinyl and blown up to 150% regular size, it’s awesome.

Anyways, I really like your house rules. Our group would like to try them out next game, especially the Victory Tokens! Normally I hate house rules, but in this case they seem very well thought out and don’t alter the game in any dramatic way, only enhance it.

      A few questions first:

      • Why is the new UK Pacific Nation not combined with ANZAC to make one nation like before? Doesn’t that streamline it better, and coincide with the UK ‘exile’ rule better?
      • Why is the UK capital in exile rule not listed here?
      • The new UK NO, does ‘the board’ include the Pacific side as well?
      • Do you find the ‘first to three’ Victory Tokens rule balanced?
      • Do SBRs only get +2 if bomber started on an Air Base?
      • Do you have a printable page of your house rules as seen in your video?
      • Anything else not listed here?

Keep up the good work, awesome vids!

      Cheers  :-D

Antwerp? You’re thinking BOTB, your improved map, which I already do have printed to vinyl lol.

      I meant D-Day.

And Guadalcanal if you’ve  got it as well.

    • RE: Digital Axis & Allies D-Day map

Does anyone have a scan of the OOB D-Day map? I am interested in printing it to vinyl, and while the TripleA map looks nice, I prefer the extra details like the names of all the towns etc.

Imperious Leader you have come through for me before, any chance you’ve got the original?

      Thanks

PS I am also interested in printing Guad

Does ‘surface ship’ include transports? This is a big deal.

      Great video YG!

One thing I noticed, I don’t believe that Russian tanks and mech can ‘blitz’ through two Pro-Allied neutrals in NCM.
I always place tanks in Turkmenistan and go through UK aligned Eastern Persia to get to Persia.

    • RE: Grasshopper's G40 Victory Objectives

One question I have is what if time is no object? When do you chose to end the game? A given number of rounds, or one side achieves more tokens?

Again, do you count Axis transports as warships?

      Cheers!

    • RE: Grasshopper's G40 Victory Objectives

Brilliant ideas YG. I’m normally not one for house rules, tech or bidding for that matter, things that alter the game too much, feels cheap somehow. These rules seem balanced at a glance, will try them out, along with your other house rules. I like that a winner can be decided at any given round, helps a lot with time constraints.
I do like how G40 gives the Axis an opportunity to win on either board, forcing the US to balance itself instead of just going KGF and not forcing Japan to leave it’s theatre. Your rules take that into account and seem to improve on them.

      Do warships include transports?

Good job on your videos lately, especially the strategy ones, I enjoyed them and even got a few ideas. Keep up the good work.

Man, I don’t even remember where I got it. Off of the forums somewhere. I had it saved from before I even thought about printing maps lol.

But yes it’s great. It removes a lot of confusion for newer players, and even myself.

Heh, I guess it does sound like an infomercial.

I suppose if there is one drawback to these maps is that you need a large table to play on. But most serious gamers will have that base covered. I kind of like standing over the board and moving pieces around, makes you feel like you’re in a war room deciding the fate of the world

Finally, armies will fit into the embattled territories. And no more of the god awful oob chips that came with this game.

Here’s Global 1940, the Europe side

Vinyl is nice because you can simply roll up one end if you aren’t playing it like shown.

Also, chips are almost completely unnecessary, which I personally like.

    • Rammstein's Custom Vinyl Maps - The better way to play

      Hello friends,

Are you tired of playing on SMALL, crummy boards, with too much clutter and creases that wont allow chips to stand properly, never mind trying to read the map and having an ugly fold in the way, then accidentally knocking one corner of the board and having it nuke all your pieces? Ever get frustrated when you invade Normandy and there are so many pieces on the territory you can’t even find it? I know I am. And forget about blow up boxes and task force markers - if these are necessary something is very wrong.

I used to play games like Global with the boards set up and a large piece of plexi-glass on the top to protect it and get rid of ugly creases. I was even considering building a large custom table like some of the people on this forum and permanently covering the board with plexi glass. Or even building a large frame to place the board in to make it transportable…

After playing my first game of Global War 1939 with Gargantua and his group, I was mightily impressed with the map. It was HUGE! And colorful, and printed on vinyl, so there were no ugly creases and it wiped off nicely. This is the way war games are meant to be played. I thought to myself, why not make ALL my favorite maps on vinyl. So that’s what I did.

Special thanks to Imperious Leader, who was kind enough to supply most of these files AND make minor adjustments for me. It was worth it my friend.

First on the list is Global War 1939, just to show the scale and quality. I purchased this off of HBG, but the others I did myself at a print shop.
